Syria refuses peace talks with Israel
DAMASCUS, Syria, Sept. 24 (UPI) -- Senior Syrian officials said Monday the U.S. airstrike on a Syrian nuclear facility Sept. 6 has ruined all chances of peace with Israel.
The announcement came after Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said earlier Monday there would be no war with Syria, the Jerusalem Post reported.
Olmert said ongoing tension with Syria in the past few weeks would not turn into armed conflict, and while Syria's troops are "on alert," Syrian Information Minister Mohsen Bilal said Syria would not initiate an attack, Ynetnews reported.
Regarding talks with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Olmert said they "have gained momentum since the Palestinian unity government was dissolved and Hamas took over the Gaza Strip," the report said.
Opposition leader Binyamin Netanyahu challenged Olmert, saying the prime minister was "the only one in the State of Israel who believes (Abbas) is a partner," the report said.

Too bad Pelosi didn’t stay there with her favorite rag on her head.

U.S. airstrike? That’s bizarre.
I think Science Daily may be showing their true colors...

US air strike?
Well, F15s flying at 35,000 feet all look about the same. No one would be any the wiser.

Actually, it would not bother me one freaking bit if it WERE a US air strike. Seems damned good to me. Screw those rag head SOBs. I am sick of the liberal leftist socialist homo loving abortion approving elites telling me how to live my life, what I can say and what I can do, where I can go, what I can do, what I can say. They claim to be the voice of everything. Well, this voice is telling them to kiss my red, white and blue @$$. BOMB the entire country flat.

I noticed that Bush would not talk about Syria at all during his last press conference.
The question to him was, "What do you think about the Israel attack on Syria?". His answer was, "No comment on that subject."

No, his normal wimp out is to mutter something about
how unfortunate it is for the peace process.
His N.C. speaks volumes - to the Syrians, the PRK,
the Russians, Iran.
Whatever happened, the Syrians are dumbstruck.
They haven’t even been able to pull together Reuters
fauxtography of Baby Milk Factory ruins. This REALLY
got their attention.
With any luck, Im-A-Dinner-Jacket and his beardbrain
buddies in Tehran are deeply concerned. They felt the
need to brandish their entire inventory of QF-5i
“F/A-18” killers.

To follow-up on my own remark:
> Whatever happened, the Syrians are dumbstruck.
Has anyone heard from Assad since this began?
All I’ve seen are spokesdroids.
Is it possible the IAF hit a target while Assad
was touring it? Is a power struggle what’s keeping
the Syrian PR machine so quiet?
And back at the SD “U.S. Airstrike” freudian slip,
I wouldn’t rule out the IAF providing visible low
cover for stealth stuff above doing the heavy lifting.
If the sites just blew up with no air defense alert,
it would be clear who dun it. With the IAF lighting
up the Syrian screens (just before jamming them), and
a few strategic drop tanks, who knows ...

if the ground team was there to recover nuclear material, unless they were wearing complete radiation suits perhaps the fighter attack fro IAF was a simply diversion

What I'm wondering about is that if Israeli commandos managed to grab some nuclear material from the site before it was bombed, it seems to me that they might also have grabbed a number of people as well. Maybe some Iranians and North Koreans??? Sure, this is pure, wild speculation, but think about it... The Syrians wouldn't have just left nuclear materials laying out...
