Globe's Carroll: Bush, Not Ahmadinejad, Desecrates Ground Zero
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 09/24/2007 6:39:32 AM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

vThis morning's column by James Carroll, the Boston Globe's resident gushy liberal, is so predictable you wonder whether it might have been written by a liberal-column generator software program. You know the kind: insert issue, names of political players, a few factoids, and let the program spit out the boilerplate of a standard leftist diatribe.

I mean, as soon as you knew that Carroll was writing a column about Ahmadinejad's visit to the U.S., could there be any doubt as to where he'd come down on the controversy surrounding the Iranian president's desire to visit Ground Zero? And Carroll doesn't disappoint. Naturally, this was just one big Kumbaya moment squandered:

What if, instead of shunting Ahmadinejad aside as one unworthy to enter the sanctuary of our national trauma, we Americans had said, "Yes - stand here with us. Look at what threatens the universal future if we do not find other ways to relate to each other than with contempt. Relive that horrible September morning with us, when the rank evil of terrorism showed itself with such clarity that the human family, decidedly including the Iranian nation, stood together against it. Let solidarity be the meaning of this place."
Can you feel the love?

And yes, of course we knew that Carroll would have his "it's all Bush's fault" moment. Even so, the former priest outdoes himself with his concluding paragraph, flatly stating that it is our president, and not the, shall we say, eccentric Iranian leader, who by his presence defiles the 9-11 site [emphasis added].
Here is George Bush's most grievous failure: Instead of enabling his nation to reckon with the blow of Sept. 11, and move on from it, he has worsened that anguish immeasurably. Yes, Ground Zero is a holy place, but Bush is the one who desecrates it.
It might be time to recalibrate that liberal-column generating program. We don't want to make the putative authors look like complete fools now, do we?

This confirms that liberalism is a religion, not a thought process.

I guess it's a Massachusetts thing (blush with embarrassment!). Gov. Deval Patrick:

"Among many other things, 9/11 was a failure of human understanding. It was a mean and nasty and bitter attack on the United States. But it was also a failure of human beings to understand each other, to learn to love each other."

That this Iranian SOB can even come here let alone speak and receive so much attention is further proof, if you needed any, that our democratic system has morphed into a hyper-democracy. A system meant to guarantee free speech, freedom of assembly, freedom of religion, etc. for all US citizens has become the club our enemies beat us with.

The Boston Glob? Isn’t that the paper that ran discredited sex site photos as “proof” of rape/abuse by US troops in Iraq?

They ran the photos AFTER they’d already been disproven.

100% accurate. Those of us who receive the morning edition of the paper were treated to visible hardcore porn in the background of the published picture. Those who received later editions got a blurred-out version of the picture.

Really, by now, James Carroll is a complete mockery. The handwringers of the left love to style themselves deep thinkers, but not a one of them has had an original thought since 1970. All they need to do is sit down at the computer, type in the cause du jour, hit F1, and presto, out comes a lefty jeremiad.

James Carroll needs to learn from Gov. Deval Patrick about seeking love and warmth and “human understanding” with all.... oh, wait, to idiot leftists only George Bush and Dick Cheney are beyond the pale. Every kind of terrorist and Ahmawhackjob is deserving of our empathy, kindness, and understanding, but Bush/Cheney are evil and must be stopped.

What a bizarro world is inhabited by the political left.

When I hear drivel like this”Failure of human beings to love one another” I think to myself? Hmmm” How can you love someone WHO WANTS TO CUT YOUR HEAD OFF?!!!! The liberal mind is so freakin tainted... Its just like the bumper stickers that say COEXIST with the letters replaced by the religious symbols.. As I said how can you coexist with people who want to kill you? Libtards in action as usual.
