 NEWT ... A CANDIDATE?

Newt Gingrich said that he might still consider throwing his hat into the ring if he can raise $30 million by November.

After our American Solutions workshop on the FairTax next week, he is going to spend the month of October seeing if he can bring that money in.

By November 1st, he will decide whether or not to run.

Remember what I said on the air the other day? A caller asked me what I looked for in a presidential candidate. I answered that I wanted someone who really didn't want the job all that badly; someone reluctant to serve. People who spend their live chasing after that kind of power give me a rash.

This Gingrich bit ought to be interesting to watch. Speaking of the American Solutions Day events...we'll be broadcasting the show live from Cobb Galleria Centre here in Atlanta as part of the festivities and you are all invited! Come watch the Boortz Show broadcast live September 27th.

Watch the Neal Boortz radio show – live and in person at the Cobb Galleria Center [map] in Atlanta, Georgia Thursday, September 27th.

http://www.cobbgalleria.com/maps.html

The broadcast is from 8:30 am until 1pm and is free and open to the public.

Special guests at the broadcast: WSB's Sean Hannity and Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich. Plus, Royal Marshall and Belinda Skelton .

Newt will not be raising anything close to 30 million. Maybe 3 million.

Candidate For what?

Newt is a policy wonk and about as polarizing as Hillary Clinton.

We need to run a nice affable guy against The Glacier.

I have my campaign slogan all ready to go for our nominee..."You may have to be married to a Bitch, But you DON'T have to vote for one"

So, let’s say Newt doesn’t raise 30 million, he only raises 15, he doesn’t join, so where does the money go?

Now, I don’t think Newt is up to any shenanigans, I trust the guy, but I do wonder.

This is so true, and this is why I was thrilled with the election of the new Pope. He didn’t want to be Pope; therefore, I knew he would make a good one.

I’m curious how you came up with that figure.

Please explain.

Newt carries more baggage than a freight train. Thanks, but no thanks.
He tried to get Clinton but all he succeeded in doing was to get his own ass thrown out.

Ugh, I am tired of those who think this man is electable. He blew that chance in the 90’s. No matter what anyone thinks about how smart/conservative Newt is ( blah, blah ) the press will spotlight his personal and professional failings and the sheeple of America will not vote for him. He would be more of a Ross Perot candidate than Perot was and pull away just enough bonehead conservatives to throw an election. Newt needs to accept his role as a writer/adviser, he did it to himself.

In the age of mass media image carries just as much weight as platform.

These Newt head needs to wake up and tell Newt to stay home.

Unless Fred Thompson seriously bombs out, I don’t see the overwhelming demand for Newt popping up in the next couple of months. Weekly appeareances on Hannity’s radio show aren’t going to get him that kind of support.

If Gingrich runs it will obviously be because of his own big ego. He must know he cannot win. Thompson seems to be doing very well right now. If Gingrich gets in it just muddles the race that much more, and splits conservatives.

Here is a thought to embrace or comment on: Newt for VP, General Petraeus for President. An intellectual type as VP and a respected General in Charge during a World Wide Terrorism Era. Also put General Honore in charge of our southern border security - A quick change of attitude over night.

I really respect the discipline of the of the Military - I think we need that skill now more than ever.

God Bless our Brave Military Men and Women!

PLEEEASE don't put Paul's name any where near Newt. Ewww.

Newt has well-thought out ideas (hanging out with some of US' most brillian minds, has far superior debating skills, and a vast understanding of our past history to draw on.

I'm more of a Hunter person, but love the ideas Newt brings to the debating table.

Pretty much, yeah. There was a big need for a Conservative Frontrunner out there, but Thompson has filled that void for now. Newt sat it out too long.

One can only hope that he sees this $30 million benchmark as how much interest there actually is in a Newt campaign, and hopefully, assuming that he doesn't get that amount, he won'ttry anyway.

WAITING THIS LONG AND PUTTING THE NUMBER SO HIGH GIVES NEWT A WAY TO LIE TO HIMSELF ABOUT WHY HE DIDN’T RUN.

Newt can’t stand going even a single day without seeing his name in print. This will solve his ink jones for a month or so then he will have to do something else. maybe another picture of him with the beast endorsing her medical coverage scam.

that “Contract with America” thing was great and actually had some very good results. Too bad GOP conservatives got sidetracked by lib MSM and RINOs.

I really like Newt, as a thinker, but will not be wasting my $s on one that has no chance of getting elected.

“He tried to get Clinton but all he succeeded in doing was to get his own ass thrown out.”
Newt gets far too much credit for smarts. The beginning of the end for the GOP agenda was the infamous “government shut-down” where Clinton thoroughly out-flanked Gingrich by having his lapdogs in the msm blame the Republicans for undermining the USA by closing the National Park Service over the weekend. Newt was unable to counter, and the GOP revealed it’s weakness. Clinton knew he had them from then on.

"If you'll recall, the Republicans did exactly what the Contrct called for."

And if you remember - Newtie got blown out of the water as his payback.

(Personally, I think he's just setting up to write another of his inane alternate history novels)

Gotta ask - A20 as in the way-back light bomber?

Well then Newt must give him a rash, then, since he's not so secretly been coveting running for president for a few years now.

Speaking of defining negative turnout, that would be quite the election. Between Hillary and Newt, even a third party candidate might have a chance.

Liberals hate him for being a part of the "revolution" that took them from power. Conservatives are less than thrilled with his global warming crusade, embrace of Hillarycare, Katrina rants and own personal baggage. I suppose if Newt really wanted to split the conservative vote and let Rudy win, he could enter.

Seriously, I don't mind his brainstorming behind the scenes. Some of his ideas should be tossed, others are acceptable. As a candidate? No way in Hell. Sorry to any conservative spokesman out there that still have a soft spot for Newt and would support this lunacy, but I'm not walking that path with you. I liked Delay, do NOT like Newt.

I thought I'd never hear myself say it, but I am choking down his ego and other personal flaws and declaring for Newt.

Newt is a visionary with the smarts and energy for the biggest job in the world.

Newt is a serious, ideological conservative...as serious as they come.

Newt has the communications skills of a great leader...he is extremely quick on his feet (although there is nothing that he hasn't already thought about) and he speaks with passion and with wit.

Newt is not an unknown vessel for our hopes and wishes (like Bush41, Bush43, and Fred). Bush has a long record as a passionate conservative.

Let's give this man another chance: He was an electrifying leader in the run-up to his speakership...remember those days, his c-span "special orders" speeches? And he sparked one of our greatest electoral triumphs.

But Newt stumbled when he got to the top. He couldn't finish the job...couldn't close.

But Newt is smart, and he learns. Sure, I'd rather have a young Reagan, but we're fresh out. Newt is our smartest, most electrifying political personality. We need a great conservative leader. Let's give Newt another chance.
