I live in Jersey and work in NY.

If Petraeus is not allowed to succeed, NYC is the place most likely to go up in a Toadstool cloud. Boston, Detroit and San Francisco are probably high on the list as well. Yet NY (and nearby NJ) both had both Senators vote "poorly", as did both from MA, and one each from MI and CA.

I think this was a silly and pointless vote. It isn’t the role of the Senate to pass resolutions about ads that offend them. We have bigger issues at stake. This is pandering pure and simple.

It's true that the ad was offensive, but politically it was extremely stupid. We see less of the MSM's preaching about how Iraq is hopeless, because this puts Dems on the defensive. Moveon.org gave Republicans a sword to bash Dems with:
