I don't like the VVA and I don't like the symbolism of the Wall, defeat. a black hole. The Brothers Statue which was erected to satisfy those that feel as I do, is a better representation of VN Vets than a list of KIA, many of whom were friends and relatives.

I don't know what to tell you about the VVA, but I will tell you that you're wrong about the Wall: when you're there, late at night - long after the last tourist leaves - in the quiet you almost feel like you're back there with those guys again.
The Wall is a somber place but it's also a respectful place with our brothers honored forever.
You need to go there yourself and see what I mean.

I have been there several times and I have visited the Moving Wall when it came to my City. It is heart rendering but it stinks of defeat, these people were never defeated.
I was a donor and the final selection really pissed me off, thank you James Webb, Rat VA.

I can certainly see how and why you could perceive it that way. When I went to DC in March, I felt I could not intrude that Saturday. I went back on Sunday. I could, and did, see it as a big black hole. I got close to those names. Names without a face and the wall disappeared. I felt so surrounded by love.

What a beautiful way to thank these brave men and woman, and give them the respect and appreciation they deserve.
