Is This The End of The New York Times?

Of course this isn't THE end of The New York Times, but it has been a particularly bad week for the paper of record. Conservatives, for one, were almost unanimous in their anger at the full-page Moveon.Org ad that appeared in the September 10 edition of the New York Times, anticipating -- sabotaging? -- perceptions of General Petraeus' testimony. And today news of weak ad sales brought the paper to its 52-week low.
Clearly things are not going to get better for newspapers in the forseable future. Although Arthur Sulzberger, Jr. graciously attended last month's swishy Diller-von Furstenberg yacht party on the occasion of Rupert Murdoch's taking over the rival Wall Street Journal, ''Pinch'' is in for a real squeeze against a media competitor who is not known for losing.
Topping things off, last week disgraced former New York Times journalist Judith Miller landed at the right-wing Manhattan Institute.

The socialists always blame their demise on the internet because they can’t admit the fact people are becoming tired of their deceit and anti American bias.

And today news of weak ad sales brought the paper to its 52-week low.I heard Rush say today that MorOn.org got a $102,000 discount on its full page ad.
A full page ad in the NYT normally goes for $167,000 but MorOn.org only paid $65,000.
I find Sulzberger's business acumen........odd.

I’m sure that news of the $102K “discount’ on the cost of the MoveOn.org ad didn’t exactly thrill investors either.

It’s only a matter of time before the Dummies and Moveon creatures begin to claim that he was hired by Rove to destroy the NYT.

Is This The End of The New York Times? If they keep on using such deplorable tactics, and the Move-on thing was NOT the worst they've done, YES.
Maybe some sensible party could come along and buy it, fire all the idiots and start over, but don't hold your breath.

Since they are giving a discount to MoveON, does the NYT have to register as a 527? If not, why not? I really don’t know what the ruling on newspapers is?

"I’m sure that news of the $102K “discount’ on the cost of the MoveOn.org ad didn’t exactly thrill investors either." EXACTLY, what kind of business can not only guarantee to lose subscribers, and ad revenue, and then offer discounts to extremely partisan political groups, and then lose 25% of it's value? IMO anyone who owns shares in the NYT is a fool, it appears to me that the thing to do would be to sell the NYT short and make a killing on that faded lady.. Murdoch is going to kill them, they are already down to a 1 million or so subsribers, and they have alienated half of the country who will never buy that paper.

The NY Times stock price is down to what it was in early 1997.
Nearly 60% of their shareholder value has been vaporized by Pinch and his merry crew of sodomites, femnists and terror enablers.

Interesting chart, but not interested yet. Show me a NYT-chart @ $15.90 and I’ll show you a Fool willing to throw a few thousand into the pot. :-)

That's because the picture is out of context.
Put him in a bathroom stall, tapping away, and his expression makes sense . . .
