Record High Antarctic Ice Levels Ignored by Media
NewsBusters ^ | September 12, 2007 | Noel Sheppard |

Posted on 09/12/2007 4:30:58 PM PDT by george76

NewsBusters reported Sunday that the media's fascination with record low ice in the Arctic ignored history while relying on satellite data that's only been around since 1979.

At the same time, the press have totally boycotted news from the Southern Hemisphere where ice and snow levels are currently at their highest since data have been collected.

Pretty convenient wouldn't you agree?

Meteorologist Joe D'Aleo wrote at IceCap Tuesday :

" While the news focus has been on the lowest ice extent since satellite monitoring began in 1979 for the Arctic, the Southern Hemisphere (Antarctica) has quietly set a new record for most ice extent since 1979. "

Yet, that's not all the media are hiding from you about this region:

While the Antarctic Peninsula area has warmed in recent years and ice near it diminished during the Southern Hemisphere summer, the interior of Antarctica has been colder and ice elsewhere has been more extensive and longer lasting, which explains the increase in total extent.

Pat is finally getting it. I’m just happy the President is getting it also. Finally after years of being let get away with empty calls for peace the phony humanitarians, the pink tide, is being turned back. It is being turned back by the truth that has been hidden in plain sight about Vietnam and all the Liberal debacles.

They did not cry for Peace when the North Vietnamese invaded the South after liberal Democrats cut the military funding that allowed the South to hold its own for 2 years leading up to the 1975 fall of Saigon. All the peaceniks were too busy celebrating, smoking dope, and sharing STDs when our Vietnamese allies were being butchered. Air support alone could’ve stopped the North but we stood by and watched our ally who we pledged to protect by raped and dismembered.

I read the stories and I can hear the screams and imagine the carnage and it disgusts me that Americans ran away and left the defenseless to die in such a way. It is understandable when the weak retreat out of necessity but when the strong do not embrace their destiny the shame is written in the blackness of the rotting dead.

Can you imagine a world if China hadn’t went red? Can you imagine a world if FDR had stood against the Soviets and demanded that the previously occupied territories been freed not split as spoils of war. The cost to liberty and humanity of standing down has been paid in more blood of innocents than has been shed in all the wars since humanity arose from the darkness and first aspired to civilization. There is no conservation of life when tyranny is the alternative to war.

According to the findings over at ClimateAudit.org, the southern hemisphere isn’t warming. Neither is the US. Only northeast Europe and some of Asia is warming. That’s the basis for giving up 50% of our economy.

Global warming hype is largely BS!

Ozone hole concerns on the other hand are supported by certain indicators which are difficult to ignore.

It could be Calpain, or it could be ultra violet radiation (same thing?) that is causing Myopia (cataracts) in South American sheep.

Whatever, something is happening. It is all worth looking at.

related, from an oldie but goodie:

“...the Byrd-Hagel resolution (Senate Resolution 98) passed by the Senate in 1997, that Kyoto would be harmful to the economy of the United States and was flawed in its failure to restrict the emissions of developing nations... The fact is that while the North American continent emits about 1.6 billion metric tons of carbon every year, North American carbon sinks actually absorb 1.7 billion tons of atmospheric carbon every year. North America is therefore a net consumer of carbon dioxide. The same is not true of the European nations, who essentially see their emissions cleaned up by North American or other carbon sinks.”

The local Seattle paper just ran an alarmist story this week claiming that Antarctic ice was “disappearing”. What on earth is going on? BTW, Isn’t the southern hemisphere having winter right now anyway? It wouldn’t exactly be “news” that the ice receded in summer, and grew in winter, but then again it IS a leftist paper.

Ozone Hole Reaches South America dated October 2000

Biggest ozone hole over Chile puts southern cities on sunblock alert

Sorry I can't link to the hole article: "ULTRAVIOLET radiation warnings have been keeping 120,000 residents of Punta Arenas, the most southerly city in Chile, virtual prisoners inside their homes this week while the sun burns high overhead. ... A hole in the ozone layer, which shields the earth from harmful rays that can cause skin cancers and cataracts, now extends from Antarctica over the tip of South America into populated areas. Second- stage health alerts, cautioning that unprotected skin would burn after just seven minutes exposure, were also issued in Ushuaia, Argentina, on the nearby island Tierra del Fuego."

The Ozone Hole: Consequences

Read the abstract at the bottom, which is eye-opening (hope you're wearing sunglasses).
