What if Al Gore had been president? (Guaranteed hurl!)
The Bowling Green News ^ | September 7, 2007 | Jason Jones

Posted on 09/08/2007 7:17:25 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Declined rate of death caused by firearms, universal health care, and increased environmental awareness.

Now those all sound like significant positives as opposed to unaffordable health care, high mortality rates in instances where guns are involved and a society of environmental incontinence - all three of which we struggle with today.

William J. Cromie of the Harvard University Gazette reports that more than 30,000 people are killed, and another 65,000 are injured in incidents involving firearms each year.

The number of people killed alone could fill the entire Doyt L. Perry Stadium as well as the Ice Arena here the University, and still have 1,000 people left over. The amount injured more than triples the total number of students enrolled at BGSU.

Surely everyone has also heard of global warming. After all, one would have to be living under a rock or in the Bush White House to not know about it.

So besides being aware of the fact that polar ice caps are melting at a faster rate than ever before. Plus the fact that at this rate cities such as Miami and San Francisco will be under water by 2100, as reported by Stephen Leahy, remember that your grandchildren will likely be experiencing that in their lifetimes.

Then we have our health care, which is another problem many Americans face. The National Coalition on Health Care reported that nearly 47 million Americans, or 16 percent of the population, went without health care insurance in 2006.

Now imagine if these problems didn't exist in the state that they do. Imagine that on Jan. 20, 2001, Al Gore was sworn in as the 43rd president of the United States.

Envisioned in this world is a yearly rate of about 500 deaths related to incidents involving firearms.

In this world Gore has implemented a zero tolerance gun control policy where first time offenders get somewhere between 50 years to life in prison, and no one with so much as a misdemeanor has the right to own firearms. The new law saves 25,500 lives each year and prevents roughly 60,000 injuries.

With this policy, three state troopers in New York aren't shot and killed last year in what they believed to be routine traffic stops, Denver Broncos wide receiver Javon Walker doesn't witness friend and teammate Darrent Williams die in his arms after he was shot in the street, and a married couple with two young children aren't pulled over, shot and killed in a Florida drug deal's collateral damage.

Global warming is less of a threat. While it is still real and dangerous, America is the world leader in environmental safety. With everyone driving hybrid cars and recycling as if it were a religion, the quality of our oxygen is increased, and the threat of swimming on San Francisco's Golden Gate is no longer an issue.

To cap it off, Americans now have a universal Health Care program where anyone who has a pulse can afford medicine. 47 million people don't just become more healthy, more are also able to enjoy the fantastic world they now live in.

Now bring yourself back to reality, where someone you know has a realistic chance of being injured or killed in an incident involving firearms, where your neighbors or maybe even you yourself can't afford to pay for health insurance, and where San Francisco and Miami are still on pace to be aquariums in 100 years.

Embrace George W. Bush as the leader of this country and all the pain that goes with it.

Work hard or stay sick, prepare an apology for your grandchildren, and know that walking the streets can be high risk activity.

So live with it, and from time to time, dream of what might have been.

Gore as Prez....man,what a nightmare.
911 would have resulted in increased hug a terrorist programs. Saddam Hussian would have build WMD and exported them accross the world. IF this jerk thinks that handgun deaths are bad, he should think about a Bio attack on NYC.
Poeple like this live in a sort of dreamland that tells him that if we are nice to everyone, then nothing bad would happen. He dont beleive in evil and that there are certain parts of the world community that wants to see every American DEAD, even this goober.

The writer missed the part where most businesses have outsourced their work to foreign countries because of oppressive taxes and regulation.

...and the part about Lawyers suing those that remained.

...and the part about unionizing the military into a force of bureaucrats

...and the part about colleges teaching arithmetic because elementary and high schools don’t

...and the part about Gore sleeping in a tent on the front lawn because the Clinton's never moved out of the White House

If Gore had become President we'd still be negotiating with the Taliban as to how much we'd be paying them not to attack us again.

That's if he didn't go completely insane after 9-11-2001. Just losing the election made him gain about 80 pounds, become raving lunatic, and grow a beard just in time for the Taliban to become personnae non grata. Imagine if he had to deal with 9-11. He'd be hiding under Tipper's skirt asking if it was OK to come out now.

If ifs and buts were candy and nuts.

I wonder how many more would be killed because of little rat cars that algore would thrust upon us? I wonder how many more would be killed because we would have been attacked again and again by terrorists?

Perhaps algore himself can ponder that as he flys over the country in his Gulfstream in a quest for reduced CO2 emissions.

Hey, he forgot, Al Gore would have used his incredible super intellect (He graduated from Harvard! Where he took a survey science course!) to ward off 9/11. In fact, if Al Gore had been president the Gregorian Calendar would have been amended so that Monday, September 10, 2001 would have been followed by Wednesday, September 12. There would have been no 9/11!

This Calendric reform would have been as effective in combatting terrorism as his King Canute carbon credits are in warding off global warming.

Socialism Socialism Socialism.

Al Gore would’ve launched some missiles somewhere on 9/20/2001 to show that he was not a “wimp” (the public R/D was clamoring for some sort of a response).

We would’ve seen continued attacks on US soil and US interests (many have been thwarted and there were some plotted before we went into Iraq).

Saddam would still be in power and he’d still be providing aid to international terrorists.

We still would not have Osama Bin Laden and he’d be on tv 4 times a year instead of once every 2 years.

Your toilets would be replaced with buckets, you’d be limited to 5 light bulbs per person per household or face heavy fines. The “man” would be around once a month to check for your compliance.

If Al Gore had been elected? $10.00 per gallon gasoline, rolling blackouts nationwide, 10% unemployment, 10% inflation, ruins where terrorists had struck all of our major cities, Saddam Hussein arriving to survey his new lands in Jerusalem, Dubai, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. Tax increases have pushed businesses out of the US and Gore’s energy policies have done the rest...Criminal gangs running the cities since the citizens have been stripped of their guns.

Declined rate of death caused by firearms

Highly unlikely as under 1 % of all firearm deaths are accidentally

99 % of firearm deaths are criminals killing innocent people or other criminals or LEo killing criminals

Under Al Gore the RTBA would probably be harder and making it easier for criminals to kill more innocent people since self defense would be less likely

And Al Gore Junior Junior would still be a multi-offending dope smoking driver.

Have you looked at the mayors’ aides and city councils in the major cities? Organized criminal gangs DO run our cities. The corruption is exposed from now to then but there is no national revolt and the corruption is networked between the cities.

30,000 people are killed [in the U.S.], ... in incidents involving firearms each year.

Of which about 17,000 are suicides, 11,000 homicides and 1,000 accidental, 1000 undetermined or other. The 12,000 homicides include justifiable homicides, e.g., people killed in the commission of a felony.

Besides, the correlation of crime with legal gun ownership is strongly negative. Cities with high rates of legal gun ownership have lower rates of gun homicides.

Please explain why Lieberman would be president--what would have happened to Al Gore, Jr., in the meantime?

The author of this fantasy doesn't try to estimate how many more Americans would have died in terror attacks since 9/11 if Gore had been President and the US had continued the Clinton strategy of talking tough and doing nothing about terrorism.

But if only (sob, sob) he were elected President instead of Bush, we would have watched in awe and amazement at his super powers as he singlehandedly transformed the universe... Excelsior! I'm serial, man...

Declined rate of death caused by firearms, universal health care, and increased environmental awareness.

1. No, more like an increase in those killed by firearms since under gun control you have no way of shooting back at your attacker.

2. Universal health care is NOT ideal. Unless you want to pay ridiculous taxes to help the govt pay for your coverage and wait for months to see the doctor the govt tells you to go to.

3. No, decreased environmental awareness. Global warming alarmists know zip about science and ignore facts and change data to suit their agenda.

What an ignorant student. Clearly a product of the liberal university system. I'm about to be a college student, I and, unlike this blowhard, intend to keep my brain cells when I graduate.

Al Gore stills acts like the silver spooned brat he was raised as a child.

Just look at the people closest to him (supposedly) — Al Gore III ticketed for speeding at precisely the time his dad is basking in liberal glory (DNC Convention and Global Warming Concert), daughter wearing see through dresses in 2000 mid campaign for President to get some attention, Tipper on meds galore...

The thing about these “what if” scenarios...is that they never happened. Purely speculation that drives more speculation that feeds on more speculation.

What if the Red Sox had kept Babe Ruth?

What if Marilyn Monroe had stayed married to the Yankee Clipper?

What if Senator Craig had never gone into that bathroom to relive himself?

What if everyone in New Orleans had actually left the day before Katrina?

What if the levees had actually held and no floods had occurred in New Orleans?

What if Monica had never chatted about her liaisons with Bill Clinton as local office gossip?

What if Moses had gotten truly lost in the desert and never wondered out?

What if Hitler had invaded England?

What if Ronald Reagan had died on the day that he was shot?

What if Barry Bonds had never taken any steroids?

What if Bud Selig had never been commissioner of baseball?

What if Micheal Vick had been dragged into a revival and never harmed a single dog in his life?

We can go on and on about “what ifs”...and they are just about worthless. Its ok to study where you came from, and how you got to this point...but what ifs...are worthless.
