Ron Paul has yet to speak out on these associations, one way or the other. A number of his supporters here have said in effect "We can't help it if some goofballs find Ron Paul attractive". Yet, on this thread More Ron Paul supporter scams! Change Party Affiliation to Republican? their argument is essentially "So what if these people want to vote Republican, doesn't the GOP have a big tent?".

That's playing both ends against the middle. Either RP disclaims all such associations or he lives (and his candidacy dies) by them. He can't have it both ways, and we should hold his feet to the fire.

Dead Americans give less than a tinkers damn about Constitutional arguments...

So do some of the live ones, but that doesn't mean I have to join them.

How many accounts did you have before this one?

Well, so be it, if that is the argument you want to believe. I myself find it lacking and would encourage you to heed Peggy Noonan's calls in today's WSJ and engage his arguements:

"Mind our own business, bring our troops home, defend our country, defend our borders". *That* is a conservative argument if I've ever heard one.

regards

Defeating the Islamic jihadists is our business. Destroying their terrorist organizations before they can attack us again is a matter of our national security.

Believe as you will.

We all do. I'm having a hard time buying the argument that Ron Paul is doing this because he wants to destroy this country. If that's what he wanted, he'd be helping subvert the Constitution and every opportunity that promised some political favor in return.

Check out http://dailypaul.com/blog, then scroll down to the 8th heading in the left column under "blogs": "The Next BIG Challenge: Become a Delegate to the RNC".

There sure appears to be a concerted effort going on to manipulate the GOP primaries and convention. Following the links, one comes to this subpost:

The Republican National Convention could be the first that is brokered in many, many years. What that means is that on the first ballot, no candidate receives 50% + 1 votes. What happens next is that the power players go in the back rooms and start trading votes for promises, etc. Then a second ballot happens on which all delegates are free to vote for whomever they want. Here's an unlikely, but possible scenario where Ron Paul gets nominated. First ballot - Thompson 28%, Rudy 24%, Romney 20%, Paul 18%, others 10%. On the second ballot Rudy loses support from certain committed delegates because he's a RINO. Most delegates who voted for others vote for Paul, some vote for Thompson. Romney loses delegates also. Second ballot - Thompson 30%, Paul 26%, Rudy 20%, Romney 18%, others 4%. Third ballot, other real conservatives dump Romney and Rudy, moving to Paul because Thompson has made some major gaffe. Third ballot - Thompon 36%, Paul 34%, Rudy 16%, Romney 14%. Seeing the handwriting on the wall, Rudy and Romney supporters capitulate, but can't stand Thompson, so go with Paul. Fourth ballot - Paul 52%, Thompson, 42%, Romney 4%, Rudy 2%. QED.

Point: We can look at candidate percentages all we want at this time. But there is a very organized campaign at play and it doesn't only consist of GOP supporters for Ron Paul. We should pay attention to this.

****However, JimRob does have a fundamental instinct toward the most free speech he can grant here at FR. It’s just that some FReepers make it hard for him to do that sometimes without have a circus of flamewars.***

As a veteran of the old flame war days, I can say that I have never seen a thread here that approached that type of flame war. In the flame wars of the early to middle 90’s, it was a balance to see how nasty you could be without getting kicked off the forum. Sorry Freepers, but the old TH forum was the best forum ever on the Internet. I would say that Freepers approached it in the late 90’s. In its last few years, TH became a self regulating forum with virtually no moderators. If a person was a real jerk or A@@hole, people just never responded to his posts and he went away. I would think that if the old TH was still going, the arguments against Ron Paul would be on a much higher intellectual level than what I have seen here. IOW, his opponents would be discussing why his non interventionist policy was incorrect rather than calling him a coward.

****************

He doesn't want to protect it, which in the end amounts to the same thing.
