Six years after 9/11, the mainstream reading of the War on Terror still circles around the essence of the conflict. Two young men indicted for charges of possession of explosives aren't yet perceived as part of an Urban Jihadist campaign inside the United States, despite the fact that a number of cells and of individuals have been arrested over the past years, all linked to Jihadism.
Ahmed Abdellatif Sherif Mohamed, 24 and Youssef Samir Megahed (in Egyptian accent it reads Mujahid) 21, are affiliated with South Florida University in Tampa. As one reviews all news reporting (until this day), no link was made yet to an ideology which is the master chain between the perpetrators and their action. The AP story begins with "two Egyptian students at the University of South Florida were indicted Friday on charges of carrying explosive materials across states lines and one was accused of teaching the other how to use them for violent reasons." The News Agency doesn't explain what these violent reasons are. Was it about drugs, social crisis, Palestine, Americans Politics, Egyptian politics, Abortion, or other matters? The mainstream media says "Terrorism," and so advances the Government, so far.
Ahmed Mohamed is an engineering graduate student and teaching assistant at the Tampa-based University. He and Megahed are facing "terrorism" charges for "teaching and demonstrating how to use the explosives." The question is: using them against whom, in which war, by whose instructions, under which doctrine? If none of this information is available how to define the terror factor beyond criminal charges?

Yeah, I am sure they were just teaching boy scouts a newer and quicker method of building fires.
Check out the NMJ poll at the bottom-left of the link...
Beach Boys? Yeah, they did that great old song “Little Pipe Bomb”:
Well I’m not braggin’ babe so don’t put me down
But I’ve got the hottest little pipe bomb in town
When something comes up to me he don’t even try
Cause I’ll blow him up and watch him fly
She’s my little pipe bomb
You don’t know what I got
We need to put up billboards reminding folks that we are at WAR! We use to have a War Department and sold War Bonds and the whole nation was on the look out for the enemy! No, I am not speaking from experience, I am barely over 50 but the movies from the 1940’s taught me alot.
Political Correctness will be the death of US! We are at War and I am sorry but ME guys make me a wee bit suspicious! Get over it, Persian firecracker BeachBoys, if you are innocent in OC, CA. Sue me, or talk to my childrens uncle :):) I do not want to find out that we are that nice little frog in the saucepan slowly heating up to a boil, because we did not dare offend the Muslims.
“We need to put up billboards reminding folks that we are at WAR!”
Ok. As long as we use common sense. There is alot of overreaction going on at times and there is always someone telling us that we must sacrifice our rights so that they can effectively fight the WOT. Our rights have survived darker times than these intact.
Here is a fine example of a lack of common sense in fighting terrorism:

Easy answer: they had a pipe bomb. A pipe bomb is a shrapnel generating mass casaulty weapon. Had the engineering teacher been demonstrating shaped charges, he could probably point to an engineering syllabus and explain how it was all just a terrible misunderstanding. But playing with pipe bombs is learning how to murder and terrorize. It fits the modern definition of terrorism and you don't need to add ideology to make that charge stick.
I said common sense. I don’t feel sorry for Timmy either, but what about everyone else on the plane and all of the people that had to respond to such an obvious farce.
Everytime some idiot declares that an ipod “may” be a bomb, they detract resources from other places where they are needed. When people don’t point out the idiocy they are responsible too. It also makes a mockery of the system that needs to be in place for real events.
Here is another article about this incident that mirrors my sentiments: http://www.canada.com/ottawacitizen/news/opinion/story.html?id=1c0072fe-4d98-44e4-8414-652f83e27868
The two are Islamics and they were transporting illegal explosives. That combination of circumstances is all I need to know about their motives. Book 'em Dano.
I am with you FRiend :)
Here is a view from mine and Bill Whittle’s perspective,we obviously don’t agree.I apologize for Mr. Whittle language!
But politicians are running scared from this responsibility.
