Durham — A teacher at a Durham private school underwent a sex change over the summer, sparking a debate among school administrators and at least one parent over how to approach the issue in class.
Leslie Webster has taught music at Duke School for Children for 12 years as a woman but started the new school year Wednesday as a man.
The parents of all 460 students at the private elementary and middle school, which isn't affiliated with Duke University, received a letter this week notifying them of Webster's sex change and outlining plans to inform students on Sept. 4.
School headmaster Dave Michelman said in the letter that "children will be told that Leslie was born a female but felt like a male" and became a man with doctors' help.
But Jim Gossett, whose 9-year-old daughter is in the fourth grade at Duke School, said the issue isn't appropriate to bring up in class.
"This is not an issue for a child to have to undergo by any means," Gossett said. "I do not believe this has any bearing involved in the learning process, nor should it be in it."
Gossett said he doesn't object to Webster's sex change, only the school's plans to discuss it with students.
"That is her prerogative. I have no problem with her decision for herself. (But) now it infringes on my daughter. That is not right," he said.
Webster couldn't be reached for comment, and Duke School administrators declined to comment.
In his letter to parents, Michelman called Duke School "an open, accepting community that honors diversity in many aspects."
"Leslie's transition is making him more content," Michelman said in the letter. "Leslie's feeling of peace can only translate to the children having a better (classroom) experience with him."

People change their minds about tattoos, careers and spouses; how can anyone possibly believe that mutilation can fix a mental disorder? I know one, and he’s truly the most tormented human being I’ve ever known. I wonder (since they’ll never do a serious study on the subject) what the “afters” are like regarding drugs, suicides, depression, etc.?
I worked with someone undergoing a sex change process way back when. It wasn’t an addadicktomy but rather the opposite. IIRC, the counselling s/he got was to cut all ties (NPI) with the past life including the job. It looks like now that has changed and s/he will force everyone around him/her to deal with it. It’s all about the “me,” isn’t it?

Something has to be done to put a stop to this idiocy. Children do not need to be disgusted by these sicko's describing their sick behavior to them. The best option is to keep them out of schools and AWAY from kids completely. It should be obvious they are always after our children trying to entice them to indulge in their sexual perversions.
I don’t get it. If you are a lesbian don’t you do the deed with other lesbians. If you have a sex change and you become “male” won’t your lesbian girlfriend no longer be interested? And I would not think that straight chicks would be interested either. Just seems counter productive. Take me for example. I am a lesbian trapped in a man’s body. So I get some attractive straight chicks. It may be a bit dishonest on my part, but I’m getting some and what they don’t know won’t hurt them. Now if I go through with the sex change I’ll be an ugly lesbian chick that can only get other ugly lesbians. Not a good trade off.
I always thought it was peculiar how teachers are free to discuss things with students in school that would get them arrested if they did it in a public park.

Parents should take action, What if this nutcase decided to end it all, and take a few children with her while she made a statement?? What id she suddenly decides it was a mistake, and decides to end her life, taking a few children with her? It could happen. She should be in therapy,(in a mental institute) not a classroom.

Would they have made a statement if the teacher had:
1. Gotten a divorice
2. Moved into a new home
3. Contracted AIDS
4. Recieved psychiatric help
5. Had cancer
And on and on. Those that want to make a ctatement have an agenda.
Sorry, you can’t fool the DNA experts. You may be able to change your appearance but you can’t change your genetic makeup. A man will always be a man and a woman will always be a woman. Period.

It sounds to me like the agenda is to lose enrollment if you ask me. It is not right to force this issue into the children's face, especially against the parents will.
It would be better to let her/him go and say nothing.
In the sicko pervert world, It becomes obvious that they aren't just gay because they are "born that way", and like sex with other gay men,
they are after straight men, and will do anything, including a sex change, to have sex with straight men in order to humiliate them. This proves they aren't even in it for what they claim is "gay sex", it's a need to humiliate someone, same as a rapist needs to rape a woman, rather than date women and get it through a developed relationship, a murder needs to murder, a child molester needs to bugger small children.

It IS? Yegad. Well, they should opt out. Who wants to pay for that? Altho I heard from a PARENT about an Episcopal school where a gay couple were on staff, went on field trips together and so forth. And the parents paid tuition. UCK.

The good news is that it won’t cost the parents anymore to send the kid to a public school, which will also teach that sicko’s and perverts are just fine.
