“Wow... a 100 dollar screwdriver”
Alert the Defense Department, Housing and Urban Development, Homeland Security...Eureka!, the budget deficit is solved.

"I’m sorry about the Saga Of the Screwdriver. Maybe Bob can immortalize the episode."

It would be presumptious for me to try, when the subject has already been broached by none other than Robert Frost.

THE OBJECTION to BEING STEPPED ON

At the end of the row
I stepped on the toe
Of an unemployed hoe.
It rose in offense
And struck me a blow
In the seat of my sense.
It wasn't to blame
But I called it a name.
Amd I must say it dealt
Me a blow that I felt
Like malice prepense.
You may call me a fool
What was there a rule
The weapon should be
Turned into a tool?
And what do we see?
The first tool I step on
Turned into a weapon.

Robert Frost

On the other hand, it could be fun.

Hmm ...

From “Independence Day”

President - “Where did you get the funds to build this place?” (Area 51)

Father of Hero - “ Well, you don’t think we really spent $50,000 on a toilet seat, $20,000 for a hammer, did you?”

Bill gets a poem!

(Supplying everyone in your family with a personal poem could keep me busy, but I've already gotten a fair start ...)

A Curious Twist

Turning in, and turning out,
That's what this thing is about.
Find the right one to apply,
Your screwdriver will get you by.

Screws get stripped, so in a pinch,
You may have to use a wrench.
There are rules for using tools,
Often broken by us fools.

Cautious workmen guard their art,
By keeping watch on every part,
If, say, a screwdriver has gone lost,
And into laundry gotten tossed,

Murphy’s Law dictates it must,
Resurface to make something bust.
A calm machine, sedate and mild,
Attacked by a tool that has gone wild.

Jammed into the heart of gears,
It could have dissipated years.
Instead, though it made something melt,
The washer only needs a belt.

So to the worker it returned,
His “merit” badge a lesson learned,
Extract your tools before you close.
Your other errors, no one knows.

Some of my happiest memories are from travel in Canada. She was my first “foreign” contry. My Granfather took me from Toronto to Revelstoke on the Canadian Pacific as a child. I traveled from Windsor thru Quebec and the Maritimes in a pickup truck one entire summer in the early 70’s. My first wife and I had our honeymoon in Ottawa, TO, and Niagra falls. My present wife and I have walked walked more of Montreal and Quebec City than Trudeau. Where are Y’All from?

Thank you, Bob! I’ll file it.

Bill probably won’t appreciate it all that much, though, since he denies he ever saw a screwdriver in our home at any time, and where’s the washing machine, anyway?

Sounds to me like you have seen far more of Canada than I have, although I did travel from Toronto to Montreal by train for Expo ‘67.

I’m Ontario born and bred.

Do you live near the border?

"You’re a poet and didn’t know it."

Oh, I think I knew it ...

Discomfort

The warming sun is sleeping late,
The chill of darkness lingers.
Without my cup to keep them warm,
I blow upon my fingers.

I stand out on the waiting spot,
Bus timing is a puzzle.
Of late the morning dew has grown,
Some white around its muzzle.

Some weeks ago I sought the shade,
As sunshine made me suffer.
Today the shade seeks me instead,
What warmth have I to offer?

The warning comes in by degrees,
Soon Winter rules the land.
Discomfort would be welcome when,
I take my life in hand.

I half expect in Spring they might,
Discover that my statue,
Is only some poor rigid fool,
Flash frozen in his achoo!

Notice the anomaly on your own map, West virginia never existed as a “south of the Mason Dixon” state.
