LOL....it would appear so. My husband served his country seven years in the air force getting really bad pay. After honorable service, he then completed college....with out any assistance from the government or gi bills. He has now been employed with a local government in a position that would pay more in the private sector, he believes in government accountability and is working to ensure no waste at least in his sphere of influence. It would be nice for those posting that while there are many leeches on the payroll some people are actually civil servants and are serving you.

Try reading 18 again.

I figured someone would mention the military. BTW, I'm a veteran.

Now do you want to answer the last line of 18? What are these millions on the government payroll producing?

Uh huh, and what exactly are these millions producing?

They are probably producing just about the same as anyone else in today's 'service' society.

If you want to know how many are government employed. Find the statistics. There are so many thousands in the State. Every governor that runs for office makes the claim of cutting government employment by X number. What they don't tell you is they never cut the jobs that fill the pockets of the poor.

They cut the auditors, etc whose job it is to assure the program is worth its money. But then, cutting is the important part--doesn't matter if there is fraud because there is no one to find it and no desire to prosecute their buddies who made money off the taxpayer and their fraudulent activity.

Let's see what else do government employees do. Well, they keep the parks up so campers can utilize them, they sell you a license plate, driver license, on and on. Do you really think your local politician is gonna do these jobs? Politicians don't care what kind of job is done nor do they care if it is done right or wrong. It is the worker that has that pride. They are only interested in getting elected and protecting their special interest.

I fail to understand why the government employee is always taken to task for corrupt politicians. They are only doing the job they were hired to do. If people are jealous of their wages--maybe they should apply and shut up or maybe they could privatize the process and have it done out-of- state or by illegals. Then you could complain when your taxes are raised because your revenue is down. Furthermore, government employees have access to much personal information. How would it be if we put that information out in the public arena for minimum wage and contractual employees who have no vested interest?

Including local, state, and Federal, I've read that outside of the military, we now have about 20 million people on government payrolls. They are serving the people.

Uh huh, and what exactly are these millions producing?

They are probably producing just about the same as anyone else in today's 'service' society.

So, according to you, Americans produce little or nothing, very similar to our millions of people on the government payroll.

So the people that build a home for me some years back, and all those that transported in the materials, mined the materials, cut down the trees, installed the AC and heat and the waitress that served them meals on breaks, from the cook that cooked their meals are just like the millions government employees where most sit at computers or push paper?

Wow!

I don't go to parks, they are way to restrictive thanks to government, and they charge money to get into these parks, when I am *already* paying thousands in taxes. And I am supposed to be thankful for the DMV? The same arrogant over paid jerks with lousy attitudes that want me to re-register and pay them money for the same darn vehicle over and over and over every stinking year?

You've got to be kidding right?

I didn’t merely mention the military, it is relevant to the post. Now do you have a link to your statistics? As for what they are producing, I cannot possibly speak for other agencies but I know within my husbands position, he spends 75% of his time completing paperwork in order to comply with federal regulations. Get rid of big government and you will be able to cut government payrolls.

Reread what you wrote above and tell me how much government involvement/regulation/oversight, etc. is in that single paragraph. You sound like it is the government employee that is responsible for all the woes of a taxpayer. Who wanted all this regulation? Just look left and right to your neighbor.

So the worker has bad bosses—put the blame where it belongs on the politicians that the public elects.

Huh? So I should be blaming the politicians, (that are also on the government payroll) for forcing me to register the same vehicle every single year? I shouldn't be blaming the millions of people on the government payroll? Blame the politicians?

Boy, this blame game has become rather humorous.

We've got government employees blaming the politicians for hiring too many government employees? Am I reading this right?

Amazing, being on a conservative forum, and watching people stand up for and support these millions on the government payroll, as our government becomes larger and larger and more intrusive.

Most interesting.

Get rid of big government and you will be able to cut government payrolls.

People have been screaming for that for years. Yet government gets bigger and more intrusive.

Why is that?

You elected the officials that established these programs. You elected the officials that passed the laws that you have to follow. Yet you blame the ‘pencil pusher’ for your vote.

O.K. lets get rid of all the government employees and their bosses-the politicians. No government good move. LOL

I've been waiting for the, "It's Americans fault for this monsterous government".

So it seems you are saying, American's love big government, they want larger government, and more and more taxes, regulations, and fees.

Funny, the Republicans were in power for 6 years, and government and government spending has only increased.

Hmmm...

The federal government is the largest problem, we need to reduce their power and give it back to the states. This question is worthy of an answer which would take too much of my time. We both know we need truly conservative people elected to office and we need to get rid of federal power.

Or, let's go to work and get a federal law that makes government employee salaries private.

Um, you are overlooking something...

You see, we is the employer and they is the employee. Of course the public has a right to know what WE are paying them!

The Public has a right to know; the Media has no right to publish.

Of course the media has the right to publish. They have the absolute right to publish anything they want, as long as it's truthful.

Why is this? Did the Republicans hold the power for the past 6 years? Why did government spending and the size of government increase?

And no, it's not just the Feds. It's the state level and local level that are also a BIG problem. Every time I turn around, they are jacking up their fees, taxes, making new laws, and pushing for more regulations, ordinances etc.

It's no secret.

Sure, and what is your position regarding observation cameras providing coverage of the roads and sidewalks?

That's the real issue I raised ~ not this salary thing. You guys'll believe anything you see the government tell you and if they say I made $98,000, fine ~ just as long as you didn't know about the rest of it.

I couldn't agree more. I'd love to see who in my neighborhood is on the government payroll, and how much they are being paid by my taxes.

I think to see this would cause absolute outrage among the working class in this country.

Hope pensions and benefits are also going to be listed so private citizens will get pissed off.

I just mentioned this court decision to my wife who's a human resources consultant. She said on average public employee salaries now are about 120% of salaries in the private sector, and benefits are around 300% more than private. Cart before the horse?

Like they always say...

If you aint got nuthin to hide, then what's the big deal?
