An Abortionist's Nightmare
pfl ^ | August 24, 2007 | Fr. Frank Pavone

Posted on 08/24/2007 6:53:06 PM PDT by Coleus

Dr. McArthur Hill used to kill babies for a living. Now he has repented. At a conference of former abortionists, he shared the nightmares he had:

"In my nightmares I would deliver a healthy newborn baby and I would take that healthy newborn baby and I would hold it up, and I would face a jury of faceless people and ask them to tell me what to do with this baby. They would go thumbs-up or thumbs-down and if they made a thumbs-down indication then I was to drop the baby into a bucket of water which was present. I never did reach the point of dropping the baby into the bucket because I'd always wake up at that point. But it was clear to me then that there was something going on in my mind, subconsciously."

I have helped abortionists make the transition from killing babies to repentance, and can attest that Dr. Hill's experience is not uncommon. In fact, his nightmare reveals some common aspects of the suffering of abortionists.

Notice, first of all, that Dr. Hill has in his hands a "healthy newborn baby." Abortions are done on healthy unborn babies, but in this nightmare, the doctor's conscience is reminding him that a baby is a baby, and that the lies of abortion propagandists who try to make the public think that abortion is only done for "health reasons" are exactly that - lies.

More significant still is the fact that the abortionist is holding the baby up in front of a group of people. What happened to the "private, personal" nature of abortion? Abortionists know better. It's a public industry, a public battle, and like it or not, the world has its eyes on them. They are committing that wrong which humanity itself, in the judgment of history, knows to be the same wrong that constitutes genocide and holocausts. Yes, this "private" act is really as public as can be.

The abortion propagandists try to paint this issue as "a woman's choice and hers alone." But the abortionist's nightmare tells us a different story. The mother is absent. It is society, represented by a jury of his peers, that is making the choice. This represents both the abortionist's resentment as well as his attempt to evade responsibility. "It's not that I favor killing babies," many abortionists will say. "It's that either I provide this service or someone else will do so, in a less professional way. Society has made this choice available, which is a good thing, but somebody has to carry it out."

Finally, the jury is "faceless." Of course it is. Nobody wants to claim responsibility for legal abortion. Legislators blame the courts; judges blame precedent; others blame the "law of the land."

It's time for the abortionists nightmare to wake us all up! Now is the time for us to put our own face on this issue, and claim responsibility to break through the faceless crowd and declare, "The killing stops here! I will no longer be silent!"

Better late than never,I say.If an abortionist wants to repent and stop dehumanizing women and killing children then that is good. But,IMO,the abortionist’s repentance must include speaking out against abortion and vowing to use his/her medical training to *preserve* life.

"Better late than never...

Good...Repentance is a good sign. His next hurdle is the realization that our Lord's perfect sacrifice really is sufficient to cleanse us.

I don’t think so. It can see progress taking place, slow but it continues. Lots of prayers continually for this crime against these precious babies.

I got a problem with what Fr. Frank Pavone wrote.

This is all about the evil, wicked and remorseless abortionists by Father Frank's tone.

I have made the same mistake as Father Frank in this column: I have to learn to hate the sin and love the sinner.

We are called to condemn abortion as an evil. But there have been conversions in the ranks of abortionists. I have known pro-life people who have tried to reach out to abortionists -- praying for them, and even going so far as to send Christmas Cards, etc.

Please pray for Father Frank...

A short version of what I am saying is that we are called to reach out to abortionists, but at the same time let them know abortion is wrong.

Sometimes pro-lifers digging in causes the abortionist to dig in even more... The door must be open for the abortionist to walk towards the pro-life camp...

Father Frank does not paint a picture of making sure the door is open and that the abortionist will be welcome if he/she realizes the terrible things the abortionist has done.

I am very concerned about Father Frank Pavone and PFL.

The way Father Frank Pavone was running PFL when I worked there, if he died, the organization would have been in serious trouble.

Since the time I left PFL, two priests have left the organization. This happened after I left, so I don't know why.

Additionally, Dr. Paul Schenck left the organization.

Paul Schenck could have helped with the day to day operation of PFL. He had run another organization, so he had experience.

When I joined PFL, I was asked what was the best steak house I had ever been to. I was very concerned that this an important question to ask a new employee.

The other great concern is that Father Frank could have a guest columnist -- Archbishop Charles Chaput of Denver, Bishop Yanta of Amarillo, Archbishop Emeritus John Francis Donoghue of Atlanta, etc.

So much of what goes on at PFL has to be personally supervised by Father Frank Pavone that becomes incredibly inefficient.

Back in the 1980's, Senator Ted Kennedy advocated Micro-Management. Father Frank Pavone seems to believe in this philosophy.

It is my opinion, having worked for IBM, GE, Motorola, and Texas Instruments as a contractor, that micro-management is a good audit tool -- use it to see what the current state of things are and the direction they should go.

The saddest thing about my expierence with PFL is at the end I was being spiritually attacked by Satan. I had trouble fighting this attack because Satan was using true things I knew about Father Frank to attack me.

In the end, I realized if someone came up to me and asked if Father Frank Pavone was a good priest or a bad priest, I would have a lot of trouble answering that question.

The closest work situation that fitted what I did at PFL was my work at the Playboy Mansion. And I found that Hugh Hefner and Father Frank Pavone shared some things in common -- besides making appearances on TV.

Make no mistake about it -- Father Frank Pavone is one of the greatest Pro-Life leaders in the country. And his ability to come across on TV is great.

I consider Father Frank Pavone's greatest pitfall is the fact he is extremely unwilling to offload some of the simplest work to others that could be.

I also disappointed that Father Frank Pavone did not try to go out to abortion clinics and invite employees to do that on Saturdays.
