Early on Sunday morning following the annual Mügeln municipal festival, Singh and seven of his compatriots were pursued across town -- a regular manhunt -- following an apparently harmless jostle on the dance floor. An angry mob made up of dozens of festival-goers chased down the Indians before severely beating them -- shouting racist insults all the while. Six of the pursued made it into Singh's pizzeria and locked themselves in. The rioters kicked in the front and back doors. Windows were smashed and Singh's car was demolished. Only a large squad of 70 policemen was able to force the romping crowd back, although the policemen were themselves attacked using bottles, glasses and benches. The violent rampage left 14 wounded, including four of the attackers, two policemen and all eight Indians.

It is not a scene that residents of the small town in the eastern German state of Saxony like to look back at.
A mob of around 50 young Germans chased a group of eight Indians across the main square, forcing them to take shelter in a pizzeria owned by one of their countrymen.
When the pursuers reached the restaurant, they kicked on the doors and vandalised the owner’s car.
The violence came during a festival in the town of 5,000 Saturday evening, which took a dramatic turn, resulting in injuries to the eight Indians.
Witnesses said some of the mob chanted Nazi slogans with onlookers staring impassively as the gang set about their victims.
The mood in the town was muted Monday.
Locals avoided journalists who had come to learn at first hand what happened in Muegeln, 45 km east of Leipzig and 50 km west of Dresden, Saxony’s two largest cities.
Mayor Gotthard Deuse of the liberal Free Democratic Party (FDP) sought to play down the xenophobic motives of the attack.
‘There is no right-wing scene here,’ he said. If the incident had a racially motivated background, then the assailants must have come from neighbouring areas, he added.
One of the victims, Govinda, said he had never encountered any racial hostility before in Muegeln. The 26-year-old’s friend, Kulvir Singh, said that he, too, had not been harassed in the five months he had lived there.
Now their faces are bruised and swollen and they are covered with cuts from flying glass.
Some locals said that right-wing radicals had announced in advance they planned to come to the festival, an indication that trouble was to be expected.
Mayor Deuse was quoted in the Leipziger Volkszeitung newspaper as saying that he had received a tip-off from the local youth club and had alerted police to the potential danger.
Right-wing rock groups have staged concerts in the region around Muegeln and there is also a mail order business in the town specialising in right-wing music.
Police would not rule out the attack was racially motivated, but said they were pursuing various lines of inquiry.
‘The whole affair has gained momentum,’ said police spokeswoman Ilka Peter.
Police are now under enormous pressure to find the culprits after coming under criticism for keeping quiet about the incident for more than 20 hours.
Witnesses said it took around one hour for police to arrive on the scene after the violence erupted. About 70 officers eventually restored calm.
Two Germans aged 21 and 23 were detained after the attack, but later released. One of the injured Indians was still in hospital Monday.
Saxony is one of the states formerly part of communist East Germany, which have seen disproportionate rates of violence against foreigners since German reunification in 1990.
The belated police response was reminiscent of events in the neighbouring state of Saxony Anhalt where officers have come under fire for their handling of attacks by right-wing extremists on a group of actors in Halberstadt in June and a Vietnamese family in Burg earlier this month.
The last serious incident involving right-wingers in Saxony occurred in February when a group of about 20 skinheads broke up an anti-discrimination meeting in a cafe and injured two of the participants.
Local citizens groups claimed there was ‘a strategy of silence’ among the authorities when it came to right-wing tendencies in the state and appealed to the state government to stress the dangers emanating from right-wing extremism.
Saxony state premier Georg Milbradt, a member of Chancellor Angela Merkel’s Christian Democrats, said he would visit the town Monday evening for a first-hand look at the situation.

They were two teams of 14-year-olds. But that didn’t seem to matter. Right-wing fans rained anti-Semitic and racist insults down on a youth-league game in Eastern Germany last month. Police are investigating, but it’s far from an isolated incident.
The Ascension Day holiday was to be a big day for the football community in Wurzen, a small town of 15,000 near Leipzig in former Communist-ruled East Germany. The local junior league had a match scheduled with a team from the industrial city of Chemnitz, formerly known as Karl-Marx-Stadt and located near the Czech border.
A number of fans had found their way to the stadium and by the time the whistle blew for kick-off, they were in high spirits, swilling beer and chanting supporters’ songs. The usual horde of young neo-Nazi skinheads and xenophobes were in the stands, looking for trouble.
Then the taunts began. The fans struck up a welcoming chorus for the visiting junior soccer team: “We’ll build a subway from Chemnitz to Auschwitz...” You “Fiji pigs,” they yelled at two 14-year-olds who were subbed in. You “foreigner pigs!” They made monkey noises every time they touched the ball.

They are to many but not to all of us. Many of us are sick and tired of the blame game and the full frontal offensive to denigrate western (”white”) culture taking place on our own shores and in Europe for that matter.

Blacks and other mostly urban minorities arguably have more political power even than their numbers merit as a voting bloc due to their clustering and white guilt.
We are allowing illegals to stream into our borders and set up shop and afraid to deport them since most are brown or non-white.
The worlds largest transfer of wealth to ostensibly help minorities get a leg up...mostly failed admittedly but the money sure got taxed and taken from us.
Whites have been marginalized here voluntarily to accommodate as a form of redress and also because trying to do right in time is simply our way.

In several places in Europe, I would expect the locals are very pissed off about the influx from islamic origins, primarily. At least in this example.
It appears in Germany, it goes to all newcomers, not limited to muslims.
I had a good friend years ago, who first moved from Bombay to Tehran, as he was Zoroastrian. That fact alone made him “Iranian” to those with little knowledge of history.
Anyway he found a happy life in the US, where for the most part we discriminate regarding who we discriminate against. I recall soon after 9/11/2001 some Sihks were beat up, no doubt by idiots who thought they were muslims.
Germans have a history in this regard. But it is just a few, and hopefully the government will track them down and punish them. I lived in Germany in the erly 70s, and at that time, I knew of no incidents of “white supremists” but I imagine there were a few.
On the whole, this is true of almost all countries. Even supposedly "safe" countries like New Zealand and Singapore have their rough sides.
I spent last summer in Dresden, the capitol of Saxony, and saw no evidence of a racist underground. Everyone I talked with seemed normal enough, and without exception, all were ashamed of the Nazi period.
In Dresden I went to language school with Indians, Arabs, Poles, Russians, Japanese, etc. etc. and no one that I knew ever complained of any discrimination or racism of any kind directed at them.
Neo-nazis in Germany have the same (or worse) reputation that they have in the states, i.e. low class hateful losers with too much time on their hands. Every country has a few such people...

World: South Asia Sectarian violence in India
Police in the west Indian state of Gujarat say they've arrested a number of people after violence between Hindu extremists and Christians. There have been clashes over the weekend following violence on Christmas Day when buildings, including schools, hospitals, and churches were attacked.
The Christian community say the attacks are part of a concerted campaign against them which has worsened since the Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata party came to power in Delhi in March.
