they call it “night soil.”
Here Here!
I am now China obsessed. I check everything I buy. Some items don’t matter but a lot do.
I’ve heard the difference in odor that the Chinese (and Asians in general) are referring to in re Westerners is that of dairy. Westerners consume milk, cheese and butter in fairly large quantities, ingredients that are pretty rare in East Asian cooking.
Big nosed, butter smelling, hairy barbarians-R-US!
Beware of Walmart!
A lot of their ‘Great Value’ brand foods are produced in China.
And item like cornstarch and baking soda do not say where they are from.
After spending 3 weeks in Asia, you fly into the US and everything is bright, clean and fresh smelling.
Its like when you switched from VCRs to DVDs.
America is a country club and its good to be a member!
You know the “American Doll” collection that all young girls are wild about these days. All of the “American” dolls are made in China. It would be funny if it wasn’t so sad.
I know, it’s very scary. The fruits are marked with country of origin. Harder to figure out with veggies and meats. We go to a local fishmonger who knows where his fish come from, but it’s more expensive. Better than farm raised Chinese $#!+ cakes though.
I have become a huge Kimchee fan as well.
I really dig bulgogi and lettuce wraps.
I made it with sticky rice. I have not attempted to make kimchee yet. I am not that daring.
So the pets dying was just a part of ratcheting up the pressure on China?
You are mistaken my friend. You do not understand the mentality of a third world culture. The motto is ‘if you can get away with it, its o.k.” They have no moral compass. This will not stop. They will clean up their act for a while and then go back to the same old ways.
Hundreds of thousands of little farmers in China are not all gonna play by the rules. Bribery is o.k. if you can get away with it.
These should all be American made.
This one’s made in Japan.
Because obviously, the answer to every problem is more government intrusion into our lives.
It is the government who foice this stuff upon us in the first place a the age of 5 or 6 I remember my mother talking about pretty color dishes made lead paint and throwing them out they came from China it was rare in those days 1950.
I remember hearing stories of people from the old country (Europe)when they came back from a visit had to let go at customs some of their favorite treats or foods.
Yet look at today all is forgot by many of these Gen X-Y-Z'ers many are so dumb down and they think they need to re invent the wheel!
Than south of the border we have Mexico who many still use outhouses and some of out foods are coming from there.
Farmers Use Human Urine as Fertilizers, Pesticide
People forget all of the health issues America had before indoor plumbing with tape worm and other things!
I was in retail in ‘01 during the time China held our Air Force guy hostage for about 3 weeks.
You would not believe how many people came in the store and if they saw ‘Made in China’ put the item back down and walked off in a huff.
I emailed Walmart several weeks ago, asking where their green beans and baking soda are produced and they never answered back.
A mouse from China? I can live with that. But food?
Not on your life. I have thrown out several cans of manderin oranges that were from China.
VERY FEW, since there are little to no alternatives at this point, because pretty much every corporation has already chased the almighty profit to China.
“Buy US raised garlic.”
Yes! I have Christopher Ranch garlic in my fridge. I’ll never go back to buying the bulk garlic, there is no country of origin on that garlic.

Their garlic may be fine, but watch out for their ginger:

Well that totally sucks. I’m gonna call them and complain. Here is a picture of how you can tell the differance between real garlic and Chinese garlic.

Non-Nestle? Are you boycotting over the formula scandal, or have they done something else dreadful lately?
