Tony Snow was interviewed by Brian Lamb on 8/12
The interview is a full hour and worth watching.
To: saveliberty; All
Sorry to be so late to the Thread, but I just received an e-mail from Tony Snow who is apparently tired of reading of his imminent demise. Tony does sport grey and thinning hair because of his chemo regimen which ended Friday. Unlike the rest of us with grey and thinning hair, Tonys will return to its darker color and fuller amount as the effects of the chemo recede.
He pointed out that he did 45 minutes of aerobic exercise on Thursday, in 93 degree heat. And while it may have not been the wisest thing for a 52 years young man to do, he felt great afterword's. Thats the point. He is feeling fine!
He has also been honest to everyone about his difficulties so I am sure that if he was leaving because of ill health, he would say so. Instead, he is leaving as any capitalist would...to make more money! Bear in mind that with three kids, he is probably staring at well over $600,000 in college expenses alone.
Two final items.
To allay any doubt, Tony wanted me to remind everyone that he sends out his own e-mail and letters. They are not canned or done by staff, but by Tony himself.
And, last and most important, Tony wanted to "thank" each and everyone who has sent thoughts and prayers. They have been deeply appreciated. Maybe, when Tony leaves government, he will be able to return and post for himself. Then again, maybe not. We will all have to wait and see. [With fingers crossed.]
A Presidential run would probably preclude his return to Free Republic, but at only $400,000, I am not sure he could endure that pay cut either. 8)
Please pass on the good news of Tony's good and improving health. Thank you, FReepers.

Tony says that he is doing fine and that he has not made any announcements about leaving the White House. He says that reporters are getting ahead of themselves. This scoop does not exist. Hed said all along that he wont be able to last until the end, but that he would stay as long as he could. He really does love the job and love working for the President.

I heard from Tony. Here's what he said:
"You may also want to pass on to those who think I look like death warmed over that I'm at exactly the same weight as before surgery, I'm working out, my bloodwork is all very good, I have (hurray) completed chemo and I'll get a CT on Monday (two previous CTs were very encouraging). I think most of the concern has to do with my hair, which is very thin and awful looking. I may cut it short while on vacation this week. At any rate, decisions about my longevity are not related to health concerns. I intend to be knocking around for quite a while."
Woo hoo!
Snowflake ping in case you haven’t seen the video from 8/12 of Tony Snow on Q&A with Brian Lamb. It’s an hour long and it’s an amazing video.
Tony, we worry about you because we love you. Continued prayers for you.
Hello barker,
Thank you for your good wishes and prayers for Tony. It would help him if we tried to trust his positive outlook
:-)
A little positive thinking goes a long way.
Cheers,
sl
You could make fortune if you required them to put in a quarter for every time they were cussin under their breaths.
SL, thank you for this VERY good news this morning. The leftist media are not content with trying to destroy everyone in Pres. Bush’s cabinet, they have to attack his spokesman. They will destroy this country if we let them.
Tony, take heart. You are much loved. And our prayers and confidence in your recovery continue.
Of course, I would feel pretty good, too, if I were receiving as much love as Tony does from all of the FReeper females! How does Mrs. Snow sleep at night knowing that hoards of FReeper vixens are “lusting in their hearts” [sorry, Jimmy Carter] after her husband. She must be a strong woman. 8)
Off for coffee!
Hello kitkat,
Thank you very much for sending the kind message and for your prayers for Tony.
Cheers,
sl
LOL
There’s always a troublemaker in every crowd. Yes, I mean you, FOX.
LOL
Thanks for the info. I’m so glad to hear the good news about Tony, and my prayers for him continue. I saw only a minute or 2 of that interview and was concerned by his appearance. I knew it wouldn’t be easy treatment for him and expected him to look more haggard but it’s always a surprise when one sees the effects.
You are welcome, fortunecookie.
Maybe it’s the video vs. the televised appearance, because I thought that he looked great and not haggard at all.
Although I do not know if Tony listens to Merle. :-)
He’s had his last chemo and is working out.
Cheers,
sl
Could be, too, that Tony's hair will grow back in curly! "Chemo curl" is a common phenomenon after chemo treatment is completed. My hairdresser (who is a breast cancer survivor) experienced it,and she said it happens quite often.
Just can't imagine Tony with curls instead of his sleek, sophisticated look, but we'll love him whatever his hair looks like.
As an aside, way back in the '90s when Tony was hosting Fox News Sunday, I sent him an e-mail teasing him about his hair, asking if his kids had cut it for him. He read my e-mail on the air - I was thrilled!
Tony may listen to [Merle] Haggard, but I think he really likes [Johnny] Cash! [Me,too.]

LOL
Inspectorette, thanks for your kind (and humorous) post. While I am chuckling, I have to feel sorry that Tony gets so much grief for his hair. But this is a fun story.
Thanks very much for your support.
Cheers,
sl
LOL
This is the best I can find on such short notice, FOX
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E4TRvYAyt3k
LOL
I think that they have people more talented than I.
Sorry, I drifted a bit off Thread. "Luv ya, Tony!"
How is that for getting back on topic?
LOL
FOX, everyone has an inner blonde. Some of us listen to our inner blonde more intently.
LOL
Now FOX, my feelings and intentions for Tony are completely pure. LOL!
Thanks for posting this, sl.
I used the link you FReepMailed and saw/listened to it. I’m glad you gave it its own thread!
:-) It is a fantastic interview. I am glad that you liked it too.
Pure alright; pure passion!
Your desire for Tony may drive your hubby into the arms of another woman. Worse case...Nancy Pelosi. No, not the worst case. But, I won't go there.
Nice to see ya here. I am off to lunch.
Absolutely,Tony! Exactly what Barker said!
Mr.FF has better taste than that, he married ME! lol
Yes,Mr.FF has superb tastes.* [But, how did he win you over? The old fashion way with alcohol? Or was he more creative?]
*I was not questioning Mr. FF’s obviously superior standards. I was worried that your feelings of affection for Tony would “push him over the edge.” Fearing the loss of his most prized possession [Well next to the Emmy of course!] Mr. FF might become unpredictable. One must always consider the consequences of one’s actions. 8)
Mr.FF was just his normal cute self.
I do worry that he believes too much of the crud his union tells him. But I doubt he’d think pelosi is worth a glance.
When I was a young pilot, I asked my Captain how he dealt with the union-management conflict. He told me every month he looked at his check. And he was loyal to whichever side signed it. [Even pilots get paid by management!] His wise advice guided me through my whole career.
Unions are too socialistic. It has been my experience that they protect the bad guys at the expense of the good guys.
Amen to that! I had to belong to the IAM-AW when I worked at VAFB, even though I started in the clerical area. Eventually got promoted to missile inspector. Sixteen years of paying dues, and watching as the international leadership got more and more liberal.
It was so bad that in 1988, IAM-AW President William Winpisinger endorsed Jesse Jackson for president! Of course, the rank and file was generally pretty conservative (we're talkin' aerospace mechanical and electrical technicians and inspectors here), and our local leadership caught a lot of flak about that.
Off to sleep I go. Hope these memories don’t give me bad dreams.
Thanks for the ping!
Thank-you so very much for the ping.
You are welcome, Alamo-Girl!
You are welcome, Wandaroos!
Wow, FOX! You really are a troublemaker! Or trying anyway.:-)
Dennis Miller said of Nancy Pelosi when she became speaker of the House that this was a great break for cartoonists because they wouldn’t have to draw her; they could use her picture.
Perish the thought! LOL
That is so true. Mr.FF’s union is part of the larter Communications Workers of America, and they have delusions of grandeur Big-Time. Whenever he gets stuff in the mail from CWA, I’ll say “here’s something for you from the Communist Workers of America.” Which usually gives him a chuckle... deep down I think he knows the deal.
That said, ABC under Disney doesn’t have the broadcast engineers’ best interests in mind most of the time. The things they’ve had to give up would stun you. Of course their local union is a lot to blame for standing for it.
I’m so ambivalent here, I was raised to abhor unions at all costs. Yet I see what goes on at ABC... everything is case-by-case I guess.
larter = larger
