"The Incredible Shrinking White House"
SFGate: The Ross Report ^ | 8/13/7 | Andrew S. Ross

Thus The Economist sums up what it calls "a new blow to an increasingly isolated White House," although, it adds, he "may have outlived his usefulness" (especially after the 2006 GOP drubbing)

Despite the pledge of undying friendship from a "grim-faced" President Bush, "Rove leaves the White House in anything but victory," opines Adam Nagourney at the New York Times. His legendary reputation was seriously diminished by the Republican defeat in the 2006 midterm elections, and has been eroded almost every day since then, . . .

They're just jealous because they won't have the White House for at least 12 years after the departure of the Clinton criminals.

They're going to be past the unglued stage when the GOP wins in 2008, to a period in their psyches of just plain acceptance. Americans will not let Hillary or Obama take the reins of power. Any one of our top 3 candidates, Guiliani, Romney, or Thompson, will mop the floor against Hillary or Obama.

2-0 in Presidential campaigns, 2-1 in congressional years. Not bad in my opinion considering the massive lies and distortion of the left. How well did Billy Jeff’s guy do with a fawning and manipulative press?

The Libs could never wrap their minds around the fact that a man who they described as “a drunken frat boy, and stupid to boot” kicked their collective butts over and over... and over again. So they had to create the fiction of a Man Behind The Curtain.

Must get pretty lonely in the second-half, second-term for any President. All the people that you are most comfortable working with are long gone, leaving you with a bunch of comparative strangers.

“Anything but Victory”? This guy beat the Democrats every time they turned around. There’s no need for him to stick around. I hope he has a great retirement and make as much as Clinton does giving speeches. Best of luck to him and his family.....they deserve it.

Did bill pay for an abortion?

Rove may be leaving the White House, but do you think for a moment that he does so in retirement. He has done all he can in mapping presidential strategy up to 2008, and the path is clear, depending on what happens both domestically and internationally.

Karl has left to be in a venue where he is much more useful in helping get a Republican president elected. The Republican machine will now take on an interesting dynamic of struggle between the RINOplasts, and the conservative wing of the RNC. It will happen quietly, as the conservative wing defines what the nation is facing in the world, Iran figuring prominantly in those deliberations, as well as the illegal alien issue.

And hanging in the balance , is the future of our nation and its freedom.

I’m sorry, but despite how horribly the GOP did in 2006 Rove is still one of the greatest political achievers of all time. He won three consecutive Congressional elections, two while a WH incumbent!!

And without the help of Duke Cunningham and Mark Foley he would have been 3-for-3 in winning Congress and the Senate (do we blame Rove for the macaca fiasco?). I think Rove was wrong on a lot of stuff in the last two years but I also think that he has been bunkered down so much with FitzSchumer out there that he has been essentially neutered.

Rove, when he was allowed to actually do his job, was better than anybody we’ve had since Lee Atwater. He will be missed and hopefully he will not stay quite.

Socialism light or heavy? Bush has added to the entitlement culture. Bush has avoidedd dealing with immigration, and been on the wrong side when he did. I don't feel like he's done a lot to enhance our future freedom.

I guess treading water (R's) is better than drowning (D's)... but neither qualifies as swimming to the shore.

You see Clinton's handlers are all treated as genius's. Pretty-boy Stephanopolous is ABC's Washington editor, James Carville is on Meet the Press and other talking heads shows constantly, and is considered the guru. Even the horrible Donna Brazil who lost the only race she ran (Al Gores) is afforded respect by the MSM.

But Rove is treated like a criminal. What a pathetic joke the MSM is!

This article is just more fantasizing from the left. 2006 was not a GOP "drubbing", more a historical correction, and not much of one by US standards. The rats do not have a veto-proof congress, they are stalemated on legislation and are reduced to foaming-at-the-mouth 'investigations'.

The WH is not 'isolated', it still has plenty of partners in congress; witness the ill-fated attempt at immigration reform. Dubya just got everything he asked for in the latest wiretap legislation, etc.

The left wants to believe so bad that they drove Rove off the ranch. Not even close.

His legendary reputation was seriously diminished by the Republican defeat in the 2006 midterm elections

Liberals suffer from the "Arabism" decease which is a severe clinical delusions. They create their own parallel delusional universe where they see themselves all mighty and powerful and their enemies defeated, when in reality they are the ones who are utterly defeated.

Liberals wish to have someone with 10% of the political genius of Karl Rove in term of running the strategy of winning campaigns. Also Rove has little to nothing to do with the 2006 elections losses, it was a Congressional not Presidential elections, he works for the President not for the Republican Party in Congress. Even if liberals want to add the 2006 elections to his portfolio, still Rove has a record of 3-1 of national campaign management victories including 2 Presidential elections. Add to it 2 victories when President Bush was elected twice governor of Texas from 1994-2000.

Mr. Rove thank you very much for a job very well done. You will remembered as the smartest political strategist in modern time.

2006 was all about Iraq. As a matter of fact, everything the democrats do is all about Iraq (and hating Bush). Take away Iraq and what will the democrats have? Nadda, nothing, ziltch. That is why they are so damn frightened right now. Good news is flowing from Iraq that not even the MSM can ignore. The dems are so deranged that they are scrambling to find things in Iraq to call defeat. This time, the news isn’t quite matching that defeatism. If public opinion keeps sliding in the direction it is, then suddenly the democrats are left exposed out on a radical anti-war limb.

The CW is that the Republicans are in trouble for 2008. But if Iraq is no longer as big an issue and Hillary is the nominee, I just don’t see how that is the case.

Why pick on Monica Lewinsky? She never did anything to you. She was sexually harassed by the President, at a very young age. She was a victim. You wouldn’t want rapists to beat the rap by tarring the victims, but that is what you are doing to Monica. Grow up.

"The CW is that the Republicans are in trouble for 2008."

As I see it, the Republicans have one thing to do to get ready for 2008 and that's get back to a traditional American conservatism message. If they manage to do it, 2008 looks OK, both for congress and the White House.

The rats on the other hand, face a number of internal and external problems:

They have BIG problems with the moonbat base. Rat civil war could erupt at any time. The Pelosi/Sheehan lovefest is just the tip of the iceberg. And that's occuring on the far left end of things. The MoveOns and KOSkids have publicly stated that they own the party, and by the way the elites have been kissing their asses, it may just be true.

Then there are the so-called Bluedog Democrats. The rat leadership can't count on them for solidarity on war issues, guns or taxes.

The rat media and elites have greatly overvalued their political stock. Hence, the retirement from reality as evidenced by tons of stories just like this one. In their fantasy world, they are a colossus, standing astride the American body politic, invincible and beloved by all. A grateful nation beseeches them to end the long nightmare of (fill in the blank).

Any polling that points to their negatives is ignored or poo-pooed as being insignificant. If the rats continue to be stymied on legislation, keep on their course of bipartisan bickering and stabbing our military in the back, things can go very badly for them.

From where I'm standing, '08 doesn't look that bad at all, if the Republicans play their cards right.

(Attn. Drive-By Media): Why pick on George Bush, Karl Rove, and the rest of the “embattled” White House? They never did anything to you (except defend your sorry arses). The Administration was viciously harassed by you Drive-By Media, at a very young age, even before you were known as Drive-By Media. Grow up, Drive-By Media (or better yet, go extinct).

P.S. Monica got paid very well for the 15 minuets of fame she actively pursued. Moral: watch out what you wish for, you just might get it...

Good grief, this happens with every President! Nothing sinister about it. There are folks in every administration who start leaving in the year or so before the next election so that they can rolling on a new career. Why wait until the last minute? They want to take advantage of that previous position!
