EL PASO, TX. - The El Paso and Juarez fire departments responded simultaneously today to a call about a body floating in the Rio Grande.
The male victim appears to have been 30-35 years and apparently died while trying to cross the border illegally in the early morning hours just south of Chihuahua Street in the Rio Grande. U.S. crews arrived first on the scene in South El Paso.
The fire department says it appeared the body was closer to the U.S. side of the river. As crews prepared to suit up and recover the body - firefighters from Juarez showed up, jumped into the river, and pulled the body to the Mexican side.
Neither department is commenting about which jurisdiction should've recovered the body. Both say it's an unusual situation that doesn't happen often.
Ping!
If you want on, or off this S. Texas/Mexico ping list, please FReepMail me.
We should build little bridges, just for illegals, to go along with the water towers we’ve already built.
Let ‘em snatch ‘em, and pay the cost of the police work and all of the rest of the expenses of getting the body back to the family, burying him, etc. Fine with me!
Just how deep is that water? The last I saw that river, it wouldn’t make my knees wet?!??
A long stick to push it over to their side would decide jurisdiction.
Good ,it wasnt on our tax dollar.
There’s been a lot of rain this year. In fact it’s a record for the state for the most rainfall ever up through the end of July.
