Rather than facing possible embarrassment over an invited guest with admittedly loose ties to a terrorism case, the Justice Department cancelled a Muslim-outreach event featuring the attorney general.
Aug. 8, 2007 - The Justice Department this summer abruptly cancelled a high-profile “Muslim outreach” event featuring Attorney General Alberto Gonzales after discovering that one of the invited guests was an officer of an organization just named as an “unindicted co-conspirator” in a major terrorism case.
The scheduled event was slated to take place in the main department auditorium known as the Great Hall of Justice on June 27—with Gonzales billed as the keynote speaker. The program was titled “Securing America: Law Enforcement Partnerships with American Muslim, Arab, Middle Eastern and South Asian Communities,” according to the official invitation, which went out to scores of groups and individuals last spring.
But after the invites went out, aides to Gonzales suddenly became alarmed that it could create a new embarrassment for the embattled attorney general. The reason: one of the featured speakers was a prominent Northern Virginia imam who serves as vice president of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), which had just been branded by federal prosecutors in court papers as a U.S. branch of the Muslim Brotherhood—the international movement, based in Egypt, dedicated to the creation of a worldwide Islamic caliphate. ISNA, which has not been charged with any crime, was among more than a hundred organizations and individuals who were listed in late May as “unindicted co-conspirators” in the prosecution of the Holy Land Foundation—the Texas-based group now on trial in Dallas for allegedly conspiring to funnel funds to the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas.

Steve Emerson was way ahead of his time. I can only imagine what went through his head on 9-11. He knew all along. He had sounded the warning bells. Repeatedly.
Little did Governor Bush know, but the man standing next to him would later audition for a part in “Gitmo, the Musical”.

At first glance, it appears to criticize the "embattled" Gonzalez as screwing up once again by inviting unindicted co-conspirators to a DOJ conference.
But then it goes on the remind us that Bush invited these same unindicted co-conspirators to a Islamic center re-dedication.
Then we get to the meat: a multi-page argument (complete with the usual professions of innocence) that the Islamic groups in question, ISNA, CAIR, and by extension the Muslim Brotherhood -- why even Hamas itself -- really could be seen as "charities," and that the "unindicted co-conspirator" designation is just a legal formality necessary for federal prosecutors to put documents in evidence.
The money quote which pretty much sums up this apologetic tripe for the simplistic leftist mind: "Even though Hamas leaders last year won elections and now effectively run Gaza, the group remains a U.S.-designated terrorist organization." Ostensibly, if a terrorist group gets themselves elected, they are no longer a terrorist group, per Newsweek, and any and all who have associated with Hamas, or raised money in its behalf, are therefore not sponsors of terrorism.
If anyone believes or hopes the designation of CAIR and ISNA as unindicted co-conspirators in a terrorism case will tarnish their image, rest assured that Newsweek is hard at work to minimize, apologize and obfuscate in their behalf.
And why this dimtwit fights on so hard in Iraq and Afghanistan and sucks up to every moslem and mexican he can find in America is way beyond my ability to figure. Why should my boy go to Afghanistan and fight (TWICE) while Holy George is busting his butt to give our country away? Is it ‘09 yet?
And I think Emerson, IIRC, stumbled upon this, walking down a street in Oklahoma City(?), seeing a bunch of these guys go in, so he went in and heard what was being said.
A friend of mine told me he heard somewhat similar things at a mooselimb student group “gathering” at KU back in the 1980’s. He got invited by some guy he barely knew and tagged along because of boredom. Was rather surprised at some of the conversation that went on.
If the USA keep clowning around with these terrorist-sympathizers / enablers / fund-raisers, we’re gonna get burned bad.

I avoid all newspapers, so the only time I see pictures like the one you posted is here. I guess I needed to see it, but it is so sickening. I am sure he is doing this to try to fend off what is going to happen here eventually. He will slow it up, but he can’t stop it altogether.
We’ve got to keep our eyes open. The Trojan Horse is inside the gates.

We can give small thanks DOJ went after Holy Land Foundation, Islamic Association for Palestine, Sami al-Arian, etc.
But this PC nonsense is counterproductive. At least THIS one got stopped but oy vey.
