CBS) NEW YORK What was thought to be a violently windy thunderstorm that plowed through Brooklyn Wednesday morning turned out to be a weather event of historical proportions.
The National Weather Service confirmed that the storm brought with it Brooklyn's first ever tornado since such weather events were recorded. Officials measured it to be an EF2 twister, characterized by winds of anywhere from 111 to 135 miles per hour.

Where’s Al Gore? He should be out there telling us that places where tornadoes are unheard of are now getting tornadoes. And he can use the Brooklyn tornado as his example. Since everything is caused by global warming, then this Brooklyn tornado must have been caused by global warming.

Global Warming!!
Drat, capt. norm beat me to it.

I called my friend maybe a minute after finding out about this, he lives in Gravesend. Thankfully him and his family are alright. It just woke him up at about 5AM and the power went out for a second or two.

No, don’t go home...well, unless you wanna. :)
Actually, inkling beat me by saying it was Karl Rove firing up the weather machine. That’s an even better explanation. *Snort*

What was thought to be a violently windy thunderstorm that plowed through Brooklyn Wednesday morning In the past tornadoes were most likely thought to be just windy thunderstorms. Today we have the technology to identify them as tornadoes.

. . . how long before global warming is blamed for this? A device to measure the fraction of a second has yet to be designed.

I was talking to a buddy of mine who was staying down near Raritan N.J. last night. He described the storm that went through, and it seemed identical to a storm I observed. Constant lightening — it looked like an accident scene with all the emergency lights flickering. My storm (near Philly)turned out to be an F1 or F2 tornado.
I wonder if this Brooklyn tornado formed over Raritan . . .

Ahhhhhh! So they're against global warming because they believe it's a massive Rovian conspiracy to generate strong tornadoes causing massive destruction in major urban centers thereby eliminating a major part of the Left's constituency. </sarc>
(Actually, the real reason has more to do with creating a false alarm to generate political support).

The tornado uprooted trees in Leif Ericsson Park (alongside the BQE , call it 67th st..) on Vista Place , along Bay Ridge Ave and over a few streets to 71st ... If you want to map/locate the center of the storms hit Use 6800 6th Ave, Brooklyn (corner of Bay Ridge and 6th Ave) and extend out 3 or 4 blocks in each direction.. This used to be a nice Italian area until the 1980’s or so ,,, since then it’s gone arab, the homes there are mostly brick 2 story duplexes built in the 1920’s ==> 1940’s ,, some homes lost roofs and windows but the basic structures are rather solid in that area , no wood frame , all masonry...
To: Neidermeyer
since then its gone arabI noticed... I saw a nice catholic church right in the middle of what appeared to be a neighborhood full of middle easterners which struck me as odd.

I was just there 2 weeks ago (relatives live in the 6800 block of 6th) ... I was shocked at the changes ... I’m no NYC expert but you’d have to be blind not to see the changes,, you can buy a burka half a block from my aunts home and I got cursed at in some arabic language when I refused to buy a Pepsi at a corner store (cooler was lukewarm and the owner was po’d that I returned the bottle to the case..)
