Local group calls on Home Depot to boycott FOX News
Ann Arbor News ^ | July 31, 2007 | Susan Oppat

Posted on 08/05/2007 10:03:43 AM PDT by Winged Hussar

Seven local residents showed up at Home Depot in Pittsfield Township Tuesday to present a petition calling for the retailer to pull its advertising from the FOX News network.

Copies of the same 40,000 signatures - collected nationwide over the past three weeks by members of the Sierra Club and MoveOn.org - were also given to managers at five other Home Depots across the country. The Pittsfield Township store was the only one targeted in the Midwest.

TOPICS: Politics/Elections
KEYWORDS: billoreilly; dailykos; foxnews; homedepot; kos; moveonorg; oreilly
My understanding is that MoveOn.org is attacking Fox News' advertisers because of Bill O'Reilly's exposure of anti-Semitic and anti-Catholic hate speech at the Daily Kos.

MoveOn's Action Forum contained, with the full knowledge and approval of MoveOn's moderators, material far worse than what was at Kos!

E-mail Bill O'Reilly and Fox News (oreilly "at" foxnews.com and yourcomments "at" foxnews.com) to make sure they know about MoveOn's sponsorship of anti-Semitic, anti-Catholic, and racist hate speech.

If Fox News uses this information to fight back against MoveOn.org, MoveOn will cease to exist as a viable political entity. It has been proven beyond any doubt that, contrary to MoveOn's claim that it didn't know about the hate speech until last August, it exercised editorial control in its favor! (E.g. criticisms of MoveOn and the hate speech were deleted by the moderators, and the hate speech was allowed to stand.)

Examples of hate speech from MoveOn.org's disgraced Action Forum

"Israel is guilty of war crimes in their cowardely attack on Lebanon and the whining, arrogant Jew wants Lebanon to demonstrate responsibility ! This is another example of how many Jews/Zioniosts in our Congress use the U.S. for their own greedy purposes. DUMP ISRAEL." 14 out of 17 voted to AGREE with this.

Note: MoveOn's Action Forum allowed people to vote agreement or disagreement with the statements. In this case, 14 out of 17 agreed with "whining, arrogant Jew."

"Our parents abused some of us, some were drunks, some were divorced and some had Jewish parents. We don’t have to hang on to our past."

"We can all see how AIPAC/Israel has taken control of America. Not to get nasty but jews have a long history of subverting governments for their own enrichment and glory to the detriment of whole societies. Many more than "6 million" have died by semetic aggression, 100's of millions even," (13 out of 16 voted to agree)

"Any one who saw the collapse of the two World Trade Center towers would have to be blind not to see that they were imploded from within due to controlled demolition..." (11 out of 15 agreed)

"Did Anyone Watch the AlteraVista tape Showing A Missle Hole Not An Airplane Shape into the Pentagon? And many other things from video and reporters as 9/11 was happening that it isn't what it looks like." 9 out of 11 agreed.

"Removing all Israeli obsessed Jews from congress would stop a lot of killing." 12 out of 14 agreed.

Nearly 3/4 of the entire Jewish population was exterminated. If you can’t tell us why, We are stuck with logic and commonsense. I’m saying Jews instead of Israelis because I read the Israeli newspapers, the “Israeli Lobby” papers and have seen the House vote 410-8 in support Israel while the UN typically votes 191-4 against Israel. Also the billions in aid and military equipment are conspicuous. The world court unanimously voted against Israel. By blaming Hitler you don’t have to face the truth. I will stop condemning Jews when they become acclimated with all people. Stop professing to know and start reading.
9 of 12 voted to AGREE that Jews did "something" to deserve the Holocaust.

"The Israelis see themselves as a new race and a new nation and are rather ashamed of their Jewish past." 7 out of 7 agreed.

"Isn't it time to tell the American people the truth, i.e. that Jews control all the media." 8 out of 8 agreed.

"Mr Goody-two-shoes, I hope you didn’t volunteer for Vietnam, otherwise you are just a mercenary like the others." 11 out of 13 agreed.

"Thanks Harry, for telling it like it is. Rice and Powell ARE "house slaves". And the "Republicans ARE like the Jews who worked for Hitler". And Shrub IS "a tyrant and a terrorist". Harry, we need people like you in Congress. " 12 out of 15 agreed with this racist remark.

"And the Supreme Court is packed with Opus Dei Catholics who support a monarchy, placed in the White House their own man they put there by stopping authentic vote count or having a open hearing about vote fraud." 13 out of 14 voted to agree with this.

"But until the priests are hounded down and arrested like the baby rapers they are, the neverending cycle will continue. You want to throw a monkey wrench in both political parties? Call for the arrest and immediate incarceration of the Catholic Pedophiles of America." 8 out of 9 agreed.

"The vicitm class will expand until you too can be jailed for ridiculously minor offenses while the Catholics are raping your children. " 94 percent agreed.

This is an official MoveOn.org picture, which may have encouraged the anti-Catholic hate speech.

So Home Depot is going to listen to DailyKos & MoveOn types because they’re such rugged, self-reliant DIYers...ROFLMAO.

They closest they come to making a fist is signing a petition or holding a protest banner, and all their tools work for the DNC or the MSM.

What, that's all they could collect, nationwide, over a three week period? Pretty weak. That may be the entire active membership MoveOn & Sierra Club. The MoveOn folks signed two and three times, of course.

Meanwhile, Fox News has more viewers than that just for the commercials!

This has nothing to do with the O man. Rather, they are complaing about Fox “telling lies” about environmental issues. As usual, Fox tends to present all sides of the issue. The Environmental Nazis can’t stand to see a different opinion aired.

Here here! The worst thing that can happen is for these unpatriotic idiots to succeed. The only practical solution is to counter boycott these neo-fascists.

Let them call for the boycott and let them do it loudly. Please please put anybody who favors the boycott on TV. Then let us all counter boycott by giving business to the object of the boycott. Take it one step further, buy more even (if you can afford it) substantially more form these businesses even if they are not your vendor of first choice.

There are major principles at stake here. If Moveon, the DU and Daily Kooks succeed, they will do more damage then Al Quada ever could hope to do.

I would too, but ours has been taken over by mexicans and I'm sure most are illegals since that's about all we hear spoken there. Most employees are now mexican and the store looks like something in a third world country. I hate going in there now. Just a couple of months ago it was a totally different place.

If you click the link and read it all, they aren’t calling for a boycott of home depot. They are trying to pressure HD to stop advertising on Fox.

I think its stupid because Fox viewers are far more likely to be the consumers that Home Depot wants to reach.

They will tell moron.org to go pound sand.

Seems Move On is showing their interpretation of what "free speech" and freedom of the press is.

No speech except their speech, no views except their twisted views allowed. No hate speech except their hate speech allowed.

I think daily kus, Moveon.org should be charged with hate crimes for their attacks on Christianity. After all, if putting book of hate (koran) in the toilet where it belongs is a hate crime, surely Moveon is guilty of hate crimes against Christianity as well.

The Anointed Left does not do home repairs or construction. They use the downtrodden for that, those who were born with dirty hands and firm wrists.

Were the chain to listen to them, the reaction by the Unilluminated would put them in Chapter 7.

Try it, Home Depot. Try it.

I would too, but ...

Sorry, but the alternative is to let the looney left win. If they win this one, who knows who they'll intimidate next. If they succeed here, next time it just be may the threat of a boycott that will effectively limit free speech. Remember Imus? Is it more important to have a Home Depot with no illegals or have freedom of speech.

Sometimes there is no perfect alternative.

I understand that and technically you are correct, there is no "formal" boycott at this time, in this situation. But what do they mean by "pressure"? What else could it mean if it's not economic pressure. and what other kind of economic pressure can they exert if it's not a boycott?

They will tell moron.org to go pound sand.

Just like the many white viewers did with Imus' advertisers who backed off? I'm sorry I see these people as dangerous.

Here is how they can win. Remember they don’t have to get a majority of customers to boycott in order to be effective. A 10% drop off in sales would be huge and a 10% increase to their competitor who “plays ball” with them will only compound the the effect. What would happen to HD’s stock price the next quarter? Do you really think corporations are that principled that will stand up the hoards in the face of these financial losses? Want another scenario? How about if they "pressure" sympathetic business owners (especially those with unionized labor) or politicians (e.g school boards, etc) to begin buying their materials at Lowes?

This can happen if the boycott materializes and good people like yourself do nothing other than complain.I am not saying that they definitely will start boycotting advertisers. But if they do, they will succeed if people don't stand up to them economically

Lowe’s is a far better company.

There's room for both. Lowe's is more upscale than Home Depot. It seems to me that Lowe's strategy is to build new stores in areas where a Home Depot has been operating stores profitably. The closest Home Depot is closer to me than the Lowe's, so it just depends on what I want to buy whether I go to Loew's or Home Depot.
