arbara Walters announced that comedian, actress, and liberal activist Whoopi Goldberg will take Rosie O'Donnell's place as the moderator on "The View." Barbara Walters made the announcement.
"Today is the day we have been waiting for. You are about to meet the new moderator of 'The View' and we are thrilled. She is brilliant. She is funny. She's an enormous talent. She's an Oscar winning actress, a Broadway superstar. And we have her. Please join us in welcoming Whoopi Goldberg."
Although she will likely be less controversial than Rosie she does have a history of left wing remarks.
Most recently, as a guest co-host of her new show, Whoopi railed that "nobody as a right to burn [their own Dixie Chick CD's]" and "burning them in public brings on 1933."
Speaking at a Democratic National Committee fundraiser in 2004, Whoopi used crude remarks to describe the president exclaiming, "keep Bush where it belongs [points at crotch] and not the White House."
In 1997, upon interviewing with Katie Couric, Whoopi discussed her support for abortion rights and "outed" Katie Couric as an abortion rights supporter. Claiming they "marched together." When Couric denied it, Whoopi joked "it was somebody that looked like you."
Just how reinforced is that chair? Titanium struts? 6” I-Beams?
I don’t agree with Woopie’s politics. But I will say she’s smart whereas Rosie is not.
I still won’t be watching.

No improvement at all. One screeching leftist replaces another. I’m surprised that they even have a token conservative on the show in Elisabeth. Hell, they may as well put Cindy Sheehan on that show.
Whoopie is smarter than Rosie even though she is a lefty. She wont be so inclined to make statements that are factually false. She does however have a mouth that is full of expletives.
She debates in an educated manner, yet she is always wrong in my view.

The Goldberg part comes from her mother telling her that Whoopi Johnson wasn’t Jewish-sounding enough for her to get rich.

In that case, I must plead ignorance. I have no idea why the Johnsons named her that.
Why bother to tune in yet another Commie show? What ever happened to the plan that Ann Coulter was to fill Rosie’s place at that table? Now Annie I would watch. :)

I accidentally caught some of her radio show while driving to work this morning. For about 30 seconds, I thought I was listening to a man with a really bizarre voice. Suddenly, I realized I was listening to “Waking Up With Whoopi.”
I don’t see a lick of difference. Both are vile, nasty, disrespectful vermin.
Trey and Matt nailed her when on South Park they had her hosting the Oscars, and the only thing she said over and over was “Republicans are Stupid” to the cheering audience.

Actually, Whoopie is every bit the wacko Rosie is, she’s just smoother about it.
Watch as Whoopie also eventually implodes on this ridiculous show.

I watched this mornings show, not to see the big announcement but to watch Elizabeth Hasselbeck and man she looked radiant even more so this morning ... doesn’t matter if she’s so many months expecting, she’s a beautiful woman and her politics are good too!
Whoopi does tend to be lib. But she’s not scared of asking hard questions, and I think she is actually open to listen to answers.

My understanding is, when she was an unknown standup comic, she had this “gas problem,” so her fellow comics nicknamed her “Whoopi,” as in “whoopie cushion.”

Well, she is MOSTLY fair - there was her bad Bush joke in the ‘04 election.
The fact that Barbara KEEPS picking people like Rosie and Whoopie tells me much about the fact that the choices are deliberate. Barbara picked Rosie for the very repulsive things that she "brought" to the show (and the reason that she is off it!). It will be interesting to see how what Barbara and Whoopi have cooked to keep Rosie's presence on the show without the bombast!!
FWIW, Barbara is doing everything she can to try to breathe additional life into a show that should have been declared dead years ago. Whatever they pretend "The View" is, it still amounts to little more than PMS on steroids!
That really is a frightening thought. She goes beyond coyote ugly, I think I'd elininate some additional body parts beyond my arm if I ever woke up with Whoopi.
I think given the choice between waking up with Whooping Cough or waking up with Whoopi, I’d lay in a supply of Vicks 44 cough syrup and take my chances.
