Thanks for the reply.

Well, this news story is nothing but speculation-and speculation actively denied by the UK government. As I mentioned earlier in the thread, the same edition of The Times has a full spread report on how the US military was planning how to pull out of Iraq without having people hanging onto helicopter as they did in Saigon. By your logic, I should now ignore all US government statements that they are to ‘stay the course’, because the evidence given in that article says otherwise?

If Brown was to say that UK troop numbers were under review, he would have said it by now surely to aid his popularity?

“f Brown was to say that UK troop numbers were under review, he would have said it by now surely to aid his popularity?”

- Lets’ give “Squishy” Brown a decent interval of a week or so to show his true colors, shall we? He’s a flaming liberal who’s better at reading pols than reading what’s in the best interest of his own country. After all, this is the guy who is in favor of turning over his country’s 1000 year history of democracy to an unelected EU bureaucracy than to any idea of his country’s tradition and honor.

Brown had exactly the same line on troops in Iraq as Bush at today’s press conference.

Regarding Europe: There are strong calls in the UK for a referendum on the issue of the EU Treaty and at the very least, Labour has maintained sovereignty red lines that other countries have let go.

Regarding British history, Brown has proposed a ‘Britain Day’ and is emphasising the British flag (ordering them to be flown on government buildings). He has also promised to deport 4000 foreign prisoners by the end of the year. He’s creating an integrated Border Protection Force. And has stated that immigrants need to learn English. I understand your skepticism, but so far Brown has done OK.

“Brown is now in Washington and, dollars to donuts, the meeting will conclude with Brown making some squishy statement that Britain’s presence in Iraq is, “under review” followed, as soon as he can get back home, by a bug out announcement, oops, I mean “phased withdrawal”.

- The above is an extract from a reply that I sent you on July 30th., with regard to my prediction that Brown can’t wait to boost his popularity at home and show just how he differs from Blair by announcing a pull out from Iraq. Well, according to news reports - see http://www.guardian.co.uk/Iraq/Story/0,,2143879,00.html, he has waited about one week to begin the process. Even I thought he would give it at least two weeks before beginning his crawl. All the Islamofascists back home in England will be pleased to see that their campaign of blackmail bombing has succeeded.
