MUSKEGON COUNTY -- The village of Casnovia is being evacuated due to safety concerns, and emergency personnel urge people to stay away from the area.

A car containing seven sticks of dynamite wired to an alarm clock is parked in the driveway of a residence in the village, North of the railroad tracks.

The vehicle with the explosives inside is registered to the same person who owns the house it is parked near.

This is not known as a big ROP area, but you never know. Could just be a Mullet-American with a stump problem on the back 40.

This is the land of my forebears, so it caught my eye...

Not sure if 7 sticks of TNT makes for a “loaded” car or not, but it will cause a nasty bang.

Perhaps the owner thought this was more effective than using The Club.

Why not? Gives you a known time to detonation.

Exploding stumps in physical proximity are as unpleasant as anything else.

-—that’s poorly written; I blame the time. Anyway nobody said the clock is ticking (I know they haven’t said it isn’t, either).

Perhaps he intends to dispatch the stump at precisely 7:00 a.m.

This caught my eye too since I grew up, as a child, in Twin Lake. This isn’t too many miles away.

I suppose we’ll know more in the morning. Related WOOD-AM is my Rush’n’Sean station, and I have it on five hours early (on the way to work).

Still have kin up there; 140 years ago the family settled in Muskegon County. I think I’m down to one aunt and cousin still living close enough to call Casnovia home, but still out in the country.

The dune buggy rides at Silver Lake were a great thrill. When it reached the top of a dune and then accelerated backward the screams were profuse. Great fun!

A little more difficult to release it all at once, I imagine.

How much energy is stored in a hundred acres of deciduous forest? That would be statistically impressive, if a bit of a bust in the explosives department.

I’ve camped at the state park there, and at the Jellystone Park nearby :) Wouldn’t mind a repeat.

Gas soaked rag and a lighter will set it off.
