Salt Lake City mayoral hopeful Keith Christensen's newly minted support for a downtown skywalk will not vault Mayor Rocky Anderson back into the race after all. "I'm out. I'm not running for re-election," Anderson said Friday, slamming shut the third-term door he had creaked open last month.

I hope, for the sake of the poor people of SLC, that he got back internal poll numbers that showed he would be trounced.
Awesome news.
Those “poor people of SLC” elected this jerk! I have NO sympathy for the city.
Because the city proper is liberal and rodent. There hasn’t been a Republican Mayor of SLC since Jake Garn 33 years ago.

Is one Commie just leaving and what is the next guy like? Is hs RED?

Quick question. Are their municipal elections partisan or non-partisan.
THE ULTIMATE HANNITIZATION?
Urban SLC politics is unbalanced due to the University of Utah influence.
Rocky The Flying Squirrel couldn't be elected dog-catcher anywhere else in the state.
Wasn't DeeDee whats her name a Republican? I thought she was a Rino.
Non-partisan, I believe.
Palmer DePaulis was a pretty cool guy. He used to come to my shop on Saturdays and hang out wearing his old bib overalls. He's still around, working in the state government now. They don't make democrats like that anymore.
Nope, Corradini was a rodent.
All numbskulls should really leave politics. Glad you’re going.
DePaulis seems to be close to a DINO. Both Leavitt and Huntsman have given him jobs.
DeeDee Corradini was a dem
No, it’s not sad for me. It’s sad for SLC, that they would elect someone like that. They could have voted for someone else.
We have a Mayoral election going on here in Nashville, too, and an open seat, but it’s not getting much attention. It is “non-partisan”, too, but that’s regarded as a joke. No Republican Mayor has been elected since Tom Kercheval dominated the Reconstruction and post-Reconstruction era for 13 out of 17 years between 1871-88. We haven’t had a Conservative Dem Mayor since Beverly Briley (1963-75). His grandson is running in this election, but he is of a far different ideological stripe.
The only thing that passes for Conservatives are our former Fire Chief, Buck Dozier, whom I’m tentatively backing, and former Congressman Bob Clement, a moderate, pro-life Dem. Clement is leading in the polls, and our local rag is championing the moonbats, namely Karl Dean, who is predictably promising that moon to the voters and spending quite liberally. I’ve found it (not so) amazing that Dean has gotten away with cutting political ads inside public schools going back to the spring utilizing large numbers of students, implying that they’re endorsing him. It strikes me as potentially illegal (especially given that he is a city employee), but I haven’t seen any moves to charge him. I have a sneaking suspicion the teachers forced the students to participate. That was the same crap they were pulling back 21 years ago in my high school with the principal aggressively wanting a unanimous vote in our mock election for the rodent candidate for Governor. I was still a brainwashed liberal yoot at the time, but took great delight in being the fly in the ointment in championing the Republican running. She had me thrown out of her school at the end of the term, along with other people that supported my “cause.” That made me a Republican for good.
Unless SLC merges with SL County, it’s doubtful they’ll elect anything other than liberal rodents. SLC isn’t even a Mormon city anymore, even if the HQ is there. It’s suffered like so many other urban locales that were formerly Republican.
Thank God! The majority of my friends in SLC think Rocky walks on water—or at the very least, the Great Salt Lake.
After hannity exposed the mayor as a booger pickin moonbat, what else could he do?
Buck Dozier looks like the dude for Nashville - he was a good fire chief who looked out for his personnel (better equipment, expanded EMT training, etc).
So you’ve been causing trouble since high school, eh? Somehow I’m not surprised.
That was actually 7th grade. I was in the most prestigious magnet high school in Nashville in its premiere year (1986-87), that being Martin Luther King, Jr. Magnet. To say I was not wanted there was the understatement of the decade. It pretty much set the course for my views on public school to date, and that the system needs to be smashed with a sledgehammer.
I wouldn’t go as far as to call Bob Clement “pro-life,” but he did cast many pro-life votes in Congress. See http://www.capwiz.com/nrlc/bio/keyvotes/?id=545&lvl=C&congress=1071
Compared to our current Rep., he seemed pretty solidly pro-life. He was at least consistent voting against partial-birth, which separated him from the moonbats. Clement tended to vote right about half the time.
Lil’ Bob would be considered a moderate nowadays. Not that any mayor has any influence on abortion pro or con. Nashville’s have the weightier decisions, like determining if it’s a Christmas tree or a “Holiday Tree”. Seriously; all the power flows through the council. If the office had any relevance beyond resume’ garnish John Jay Hooker would have pulled a stint.
Since TN is threadjacking here: You WOULD have a snit with a school some parents would literally kill to get their kids into. I went to Tennessee Preparatory School voluntarily to escape a succession of foster parents and was thankful for the opportunity to excel in that little pond. Almost got into Webb School (very nice place) but the funding didn’t come through. Water under the bridge that I don’t add tears to.
This Rocky Anderson guy makes Karl Marx and Adolf Hitler look like pikers.
