English and History are excellent choices for those who want to ... teach at a college level.

Teach what at the college level?

Nothing ever costs less than the amount it is subsidized for.

This is always the justification for employee athletic facilities, but can you cite ONE credible study where this actually has been documented?

In return the research depts. at these colleges provide psuedo-scientific studies that support whatever nanny state legislation congress wants to force on us. It’s a symbiotic relationship.

Not only that, but SVSU is a modern full sized university campus and hence has pools, state of the art athletic facilities, dining areas, etc. Obviously they don't have a comparable golf course. Yet.

The only difference here is that the faculty believe they are entitled to a Country Club lifestyle, but as true liberals, believe someone else should be made to pay for it.

Something tells me the trial membership is quite a bit more than 35.71 per faculty member. The Country Club web site shows a cost of more than $5000/member and that’s without all the perks listed in the editorial. The monthly dues are between 160 and 400, plus club stock, plus minimum food purchase, plus initiation fee (which seems to have been waived) I don’t think the yearly fee is 25,000 per member

But then again...

The total for 700 members @ 25000 each totals out to only 17.5m. SVSU budget is...quite a bit more than that.
