Where do you think the term “shanty Irish” came from?

Sounds like a perfect place for a “FLIP THIS HOUSE” episode.

the 19th-century mansion has 18 rooms, 10½ baths and 12 fireplaces. The property also includes a pool, pool house, tennis court and stables.

Well, if it was sitting on 50 acres, yes.
Shoehorned into little more than 5, No.

“Heritage” homes are money pits. Had relatives purchase one “cheaply” and spend tens of thousands to bring electrical and plumbing up to code. They stopped after they lifted up the carpets and didn’t find the hardwood they assumed would be there. Despite the low cost of purchase and numerous upgrades, they ended up taking a huge loss selling to a developer who razed it and put in condos. Lesson learned.

LOL! By the way, I attribute a lot of the real estate speculation here in South Florida to that show. A few years ago there was a Condo buying frenzy here to buy condo units and FLIP them. Problem was that there was nobody to flip to. The investors outsmarted themselves and got stuck with big monthly payments for condos they would never even be able to break even on. The result was a big PLUNGE in the housing prices here, especially for condos and townhouses. On the beach, at least half the condo units are EMPTY.

skeletons in the closets?

And the attic, basement, walls...

Probably an inspection by the DEA prior to taking possession, too.

Oh no. Most Irish are great. Kennedys reinforce the negative stereotypes and give the Irish a bad name. Mainly big drinker Ted. He must have a cast-iron constitution as he is 75 1/2 (born 2/22/32).

Think you may be on to something there. The pictures, downthread, are not real impressive.

Ethel is trying to cut her carbon footprint in half so her son will stop calling her a ‘traitor’ and MAYBE even STFU.

Knowing that Kennedy family had do discipline, they grew up wild, that place is a ramshackle old dump.

A smart investor would talk the price down lower. Then after buying it at the reduced price, dismantle the house piece by piece and auction the pieces off to the hordes of fanatic Kennedy worshipers out there. I bet the net profit would be over $25 million. I mean the auctioneer could say, “This is the Kennedy Mansion toilet. Joe Kennedy took a dump here thousands of times. How much am I bid for the for this toilet seat lid?...And we have a $50,000 opening bid from that starry eyed gal up front!”

My wife is a No.Virginia realtor. . ..houses were way over-priced. Everything is being slashed to move. . . foreclosures, short-selling galore.

The main problems with the Kennedy house is that everything with the house is old: plumbing, wiring, windows, roofing. ..it all needs to be replaced. ..they are trying to sell "as is"
