When will these candidates learn to turn or take off their microphones. At the end of an NAACP Presidential Forum in Detroit in which fringe candidates Mike Gravel and Dennis Kucinich repeatedly upstaged the top two tiers, John Edwards approached Hillary Clinton at her podium and, perhaps forgetting that microphones were still on, can clearly be heard saying "we should think about at some point... maybe some time in the fall, we'll try to have a more serious debate with a smaller group of people."
Hillary agreed with Edwards, saying "We've got to cut the numbers of these, because they are just being trivialized." Edwards responded "And they're not serious. They're not serious," then walked away. Hillary caught up to him to add "I think there was an effort by our campaign to do that, but it somehow got detoured," saying "We've gotta get back to it." While shaking Dennis Kucinich's hand, she added "our guys should talk."

I notice Gravel in that clip saying NAFTA came from a democratic administration.......at best a half-truth.....it was Bush 41 who (AFTER having lost the ‘92 election) put NAFTA on “fast-track” legislative status and signed the agreement with foreign participants to do so......of course it sailed right through Clinton and the democratic congress, but it was begun by daddy BUSH and that direction is rabidly pursued by baby BUSH.....much to the liking of the Democrats and RINO’s.
I can’t wait to see the reaction of the lower tier candidates, such as Kookcinich and the Potted Plant, to this conspiracy at their next debate. BTW, WHEN is the next Democrat debate? Is it that gay debate?

It looks like to me this is going to be Hillary/Edwards Ticket. No way Obama will team up with the Wicked One.
Well, for most of them it would be way to complicated to find the switch on the wireless and move it to off. Both Off and On are spelled O-something.
The sound guy wires them up and tells them not to monkey with anything- else you’d see one of them soundless at showtime and some person with a brain would have to scamper onstage to turn it on.
They must trust the sound engineer to not keep the mic live when it’s not supposed to be.
Remember the talking head whose mike was “accidentally on” when she had a conversation in the ladies room, and it went out over a Bush speech? Same deal, the talent is told not to mess with the hardware.
This means, freepers, that a clever person with a scanner and a recorder could grab the raw output from a wireless mic, with no sound board or engineer involved. That may be illegal, check all applicable laws before you record a Silky Pony conversation and post it somewhere, I certainly do not suggest that anyone records a Hillary backstage rant. If the secret service caught you in a van with a yagi and a scanner you’d have ‘splainin to do before your indictment.

By the way, when a Lefty reporter stands up to Harry Reid (i.e. the "will the Iraqis be safer when the U.S. leaves" question and followup), that's saying something.

Give us, the voters equal opportunity to see ALL of the candidates and let US decide who is best suited for the Presidency. It is time to stop the artificial stifling of the candidates. I don't need HR Clinton or Edwards or anyone else deciding who is a "lower level" candidate and who is serious or not. That is up to us, the voters, the decide.

I finally looked at the video this morning Edwards initiates the discussion of cutting out some candidates, going over to Clinton. She agrees and as they turn to leave, Clinton saying "our guys should talk," they both blow off Obama. Kucinich has every right to be outraged. And all the others. Where do these two get away with trying to machinate the debates? Edwards gets the main boos here for bringing it up (more me time, please!); Clinton for agreeing and offering to sic her dogs on the issue.
“Candidates, no matter how important or influential they perceive themselves to be, do not have and should not have the power to determine who is allowed to speak to the American public and who is not,” said Kucinich.
“Imperial candidates are as repugnant to the American people and to our Democracy as an imperial President.”
The Kucinich campaign will immediately take steps to address the planned actions of the Clinton and Edwards campaigns.
