CRAWFORD, Texas - Cindy Sheehan, the soldier's mother who galvanized the anti-war movement, said Sunday that she plans to run against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi unless she introduces articles of impeachment against President Bush in the next two weeks.
Sheehan said she will run against the San Francisco Democrat in 2008 as an independent if Pelosi does not seek by July 23 to impeach Bush. That's when Sheehan and her supporters are to arrive in Washington, D.C., after a 13-day caravan and walking tour starting next week from the group's war protest site near Bush's Crawford ranch.
"Democrats and Americans feel betrayed by the Democratic leadership," Sheehan told The Associated Press. "We hired them to bring an end to the war. I'm not too far from San Francisco, so it wouldn't be too big of a move for me. I would give her a run for her money."
Messages left with Pelosi's staff were not immediately returned.

What a choice! Pelosi or Sheehan?
If I had that choice, I’d take the hint that I needed to move.

Good for her! I hope she wins. That would help seal the fate of the wacky left (to which Pelosi belongs).
It’ll be the Wackier than Thou showdown.
I’d contribute $$ to Sheehan’s campaign just to watch that happen.

I think Ms. Sheehan has been too busy being used by antiwar leftists and America-hating Marxists. She needs to go home and mourn for her son—and then get angry at those who used her.

Sheehan announced in late May that she was leaving the anti-war movement. She said that she felt her efforts had been in vain and that she had endured smear tactics and hatred from the left, as well as the right. She said she wanted to change course.Laughing my a** off run cindy run and see just how nasty your own people will be.

The dignity that eventually comes from withdrawing oneself from the public eye can’t be high on Cindy’s wish list. What next? American Idol? Filling Rosie O’Donnell’s spot on “The View?” Better yet, how about starring in an off-Broadway production of “A Streetcar Named Desire” as fallen Southern belle Blanche Dubois? She could utter the famous line “I have always depended on the kindness of strangers” and they could usher her offstage to the nice room with rubber walls where you can’t hurt yourself, even if you want to. This is one sad story, and evidently there’s no one in the extended Sheehan family willing to step in and coordinate an intervention.

Cindy Sheehan, the soldier's mother who galvanized the anti-war movement, said Sunday that
she plans to run against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi unless she introduces articles of impeachment against President Bush in the next two weeks. Oh Jesus, more lies. This sounds like about 50 inmates of Hollywood who were going to move to Canada and France if W was elected.
Why are they still here?

I’m a lifelong San Francisco resident, and Pelosi is “my” congressperson. (Yeah, I know. Ewwww.) If this Sheehan challenge actually happens, it will mark the first time in her history as an elected official she will really have to do actual campaigning vs. just raising cash. It was her acumen in raising millions for Democrats that got her handed a no-risk district the Demos have held since before I was born.

Yeah, totally clueless. The constrained life of a very liberal, very junior Congressperson is probably not the venue the “attention whore” is looking for.
Hope she decides to run. Not that she has much chance. Even SF liberals can figure out the difference between returning a very senior House member for another term and sending in a brand spanking new member to start all over again at the bottom of the seniority chain. (That difference is the reason why, no matter how incapacitated he becomes, Senator Byrd will be re-elected by WV voters until he dies.)
However, “they” might just be “mad” (in at least two meanings of the word) enough to do “it.” Once she announces, I may have to send her some money, just for the irritation it will cause Pelosi, if nothing else.

I'm not too far from San Francisco, so it wouldn't be too big of a move for me. Sheehan's ignorance is showing. She doesn't have to live in Pelosi's district in order to run for Congress there, as long as she lives anywhere in California. There is no residency requirement for Congress in the U.S. Constitution. Indeed, Sheehan could run in Pelosi's district even if she lived outside of California prior to her actual election (per Article I, Section 2):
No person shall be a Representative who shall not have attained to the age of twenty five years, and been seven years a citizen of the United States, and who shall not, when elected, be an inhabitant of that state in which he shall be chosen.
Someone please tell Cindy that she doesn't have to move, so that shouldn't be an inhibiting factor at all.
