SOSDD........
A flipfloppin I will go, flipfloppin I will go, hi ho a porno, flipfloppin I still go.
Unless Romney (1) knows what's on the cable channels in the hotel rooms in the first place; and (2) is on the board of directors with sufficient clout to make a change, in the second place; I don't see how he is personally responsible for every marketing choice made by Marriott.
Besides, with what passes for network TV these days, if the TVs carry the major networks and MTV somebody could accuse it of being pornography. It's certainly trash.
What kind of “ties” to Marriott? Is he an investor? Does he have Marriott in his stock portfolio?
This is a stretch as I would bet that all of his competitors on both sides of the aisle have at one time or another stayed in a Marriott or one of its off brands.
Oh yeah I wonder how many of them have ever stayed in a Hilton Hotel?
This along with my post is the most silly item of the day.
We need to know if they provide Lotion too for the guest. Perhaps Fred Thompson lobby for the lotion company....
OH GEEZ YOU BROWNBACK IDOITS. YOU GUY IS NOT GOING TO WIN SO STOP THROW FIREBOMBS AT OTHER CANIDATES LIKE A BUNCH OF HOLY ROLLERS.
“...with what passes for network TV these days...”
Yep just like Amazon does not carry XXX yet but it does have a giant “gay/lesbian” category. Which is worse? Perhaps the faggot stuff that is geared toward influencing early teens in their most awkward times of adolescence is worse than the XXX that just shows sexual congress.
It's pay per view porn, and everybody knows about it.
(2) is on the board of directors with sufficient clout to make a change
Yes, he served on the Board in the 90's, but apparently made no effort to change the chain's policy. Can't pass up tens of millions of dollars in porno sales, you know, even though Mitt makes a big deal about how anti-porn and anti-R-rated movies (ha!) he is.
Not saying you all. But my guess is this is coming from Brownback people since they seem to be attacking everyone but McCain now or days. Geez I wonder why not McCain.
LOL.
If you are going to call some one an idiot, you should at least know how to spell the word.
He was on their Board of Directors at one time, but resigned in 2002.

No, he’s not responsible, but now he will have to answer the media questions on this issue anyway. That’s how the game is played, find the dirt no matter how far-removed and bring it right into the center. Romney will have to now come out pro-porno or anti-porno, with ramifications on either side.
He was drawing 100K/yr while an active member of the board ... he took the money some of which came from sale of porn in the hotels he helped to keep operating and selling the smut, and he knew where the money came from.
Well, for that matter he took money made from the sale of liquor in Marriott Hotels - big frickin’ deal. I’m not even a particular supporter of Romney (Run, Fred, Run!) but this seems to be an incredible stretch.
Wow. Talk about a slanted sentence.
I'm no Mitt fan. I won't vote for him under any circumstances because I think he's a flip-flopper with no core principles who's willing to say anything he thinks you want to hear to get elected, but this attack is way out of line.
Unless he personally instituted the PPV project, defended it, or attacked other hotel chains for XXX pay-per-view, there's no hypocrisy here. Any more than as a Mormon he's a hypocrite for serving on the board of a hotel chain that stocks minibars.

So wait, your telling me this guy has strong beliefs but chooses NOT to force those beliefs on others? Why that’s just unAmerican... /S
Well I suppose liquor and porn profits won’t harm his Mormon standing. But alcohol isn’t even remotely like porn unless you’re noticing the destructive work of both in human families.
Folks, it might be just as easy to actually read the material posted, which answers all questions asked so far and rebuts most if not all false assumptions posted in the comments:

P&V writes: “So wait, your telling me this guy has strong beliefs but chooses NOT to force those beliefs on others? Why thats just unAmerican...”
Actually, his track record indicates he has no strong beliefs. He strongly “believes” whichever side of an issue his finger in the wind tells him might get him elected, which obviously changes from one election to the next (abortion, homosexual issues, guns, etc.)
Further, choosing not to SELL hardcore X-rated porn would not constitute “forcing” anything on anybody.
As a member of the board, his job is to do whatever he can within the law to MAKE THE COMPANY MONEY...not to make decisions that takes money away from the company.
...and didn’t you post the same article a few days ago?
If this is the worst they can say about him Romney will be our next President. This is just lame.
By your standards, Strawberry, Mitt should have encouraged Marriott to operate prostitution services in all their properties in Nevada, scheduled and billed through the front desk.
And no, seeing as how the Focus on the Family story wasn’t aired or posted online until today, I didn’t post the same story a few days ago.

I did post another story on the same subject. I suspect there’ll be more in the days ahead. I’ll be sure to keep you well-posted as they emerge.
Yeah, and I stayed at a Marriott once and the ice machine was out on the floor my room was on. What did Romney do about it? Nothing. He is clearly not up to being president if he can’t even get an ice machine repaired. /s
And the fact that Mormon doctrine is VERY much against alcohol consumption and even having dealings with alcohol.
Then again - Catholic doctrine is very much against abortion, yet look at how many "Catholic" politicians directly support abortion... So I guess it's all the same...
Mitt made a big deal about what a family-friendly anti-smut crusader he was for not putting his money in a Bain Capital investment in a movie company that made R-rated movies.
So he uses his opposition to R-rated movies in his campaign yet served on the board of a company (with a generous salary) that generates major profits (yes, it's a cash cow) from ppv pornography.
Yes, that is hypocrisy.

Immoral Goings-On Strongly Suspected
I don’t personally think it’s all the same ... abortion is deadly by design. Porn is a profit maker by exploiting the lowest level in people’s character. You can drink and use porn without killing any other person, but abortion kills by design. God doesn’t like any thing we do to harm others, and designing to make a profit through harming others is something you don’t want to question God on be you Mormon or Catholic. If a Catholic Priest were making money promoting porn, would that be okay?
I don’t care whether he is on the Board of Directors of Marriott, personally watched the movies, or starred in the films. This is a non-story.
Stretching a little far aren't we?
If you are talking to idiots, they won’t know it is spelled wrong - so doesn’t matter.
A member of the board of directors has a fiduciary duty to the stockholders - to maximize their investment. To be the only hotel chain offering prostitution would have been a terrible public relations move and ruined the chain’s image for the sake of a handful of locations with negligible revenue on a chain-wide basis. Though I am sure there are some who avoid Marriott because they offer porn, that number if probably negligible and pales in comparison to the revenues generated. To have made the corporation less profitable due to his personal beliefs would violate his fiduciary duty. One can argue whether, as a matter of principle, he should have accepted the board post, but having done so he made a committment to Marriott shareholders.
Same post, different source.
Good point!
I also believe that Mormons disapprove of caffeine - just think of all those Marriotts with in-room COFFEE MACHINES!
If your facts are correct, you have a good point.
“Called to task” by a handful of pathetic bigoted nutjobs.
Wow, between this and the dog on the roof thing, they sure are scraping the bottom of the barrel pretty hard.
Proximity anyone?
This type of story does Romney’s campaign more good than he could even do for himself. If this is the worst they can bring up, then I’d be OK with Mitt.
ROFLAMO! I hate it when that happens.
“This is a non-story.”
In WWII, President Roosevelt said, “Tell it to the Marines.”
Your opinion is duly noted, Lab, but in this case, “Tell it to Dr. Dobson.”
And the over 1,000 Christian radio stations that are today broadcasting your “non-story” as their lead story.
Don’t tell me you didn’t post this story 2-3 days ago...I saw you do it. Same story from a different source doesn’t make a new story nor does it mean that anyone other than the relative handful you fall into actually care that Mitt, as a board member, did nothing to rid Marriott of in-room porn pay-per-view.
There’s plenty to go after Mitt without resorting to this lame BS.
It’s very simple. Mitt’s job was to make money for the Marriott hotel chain. By allowing prostitution at the hands of Marriott, it would generate enough negative attention towards Marriott that it wouldn’t be fiscally viable as a program. They are, afterall, a 2-4+ star hotel chain. They might actually lose business for being a bordello. In-room porn does not do this at all because it’s still a choice...and it’s freakin’ EVERYwhere as a choice....that one has to pay for...and only a tiny handful of folks care that a board member didn’t do away with this and would go to another 2-4+ star hotel chain that didn’t provide in-room porn.
Good luck finding that porn-free hotel...maybe you won’t get bed bugs, as it would be less than a one star place that doesn’t even give free cable.
You gonna post this story again when it’s brought up by yet another source?
The original poster has posted three different versions of this ridiculous story since Tuesday.
