Vitter Applauds Defeat of Immigration Bill

June 28, 2007 - (Washington, D.C.) – U.S. Sen. David Vitter today issued the following statement regarding the defeat of the immigration bill.

“This is an incredible victory for the American people. The Kennedy immigration bill was flawed and granted amnesty to millions of illegals.

“For a while, a small group of us were the only senators advocating the position of the majority of Americans. I am thankful that the continued calls and persistent engagement of the American people on this issue paid off.

“The next step is to immediately push the president to take up his word and enforce security at the border. I am ready to support the work that is needed to accomplish this goal,” said Vitter.

Thanks to everyone who helped kill this bill: senators, pundits, and voters.

Today I sent an email of thanks to my Senator from Vermont, Bernie Sanders, for voting against cloture. I never thought I’d ever thank Bernie for anything!

Forget it. Bush will never do it. He has a sickness about this issues and the Mexicans...it is not healthy, nor is it in any way, good for America and its people, let alone desired by the majority of Americans. It is hard to believe this man’s position on this, and that at the same time, he is the President of this country. Beyond shocking.

Right now Rudy might be Vitters choice, but I really think the Rudy is much to liberal for conservatives. As an example, Rudy praised R.Bader Ginsberg-—thought she was a good Supreme Court Justice. I don’t know about you, but to me R.Bader Ginsberg is a leftist; and as a former head of the ACLU, is really out of step with the American people.
I didn’t mention his stance on Abortion. I’ll save that for another day. I think once Fred T gets in and shows he’s capable of the job, I really think Vitters will switch.

I heard him, too. I guess it’s time for the likes of McCain and Lott to step aside, as they can’t “reign them in”.

Yeah, she called him one of the Young Turks. I know that she was specifically referring to 4 young GOP Senators. Vitter, Sessions and DeMint. Do you know who the 4th was?? I want to write a note of thanks to them all.

Doesn’t sound like they got any help from Mitch McConnell either. I was surprised at how frank the discussion was on Laura’s show. Though I guess I shouldn’t be, especially after she spiked Tony Snow. Thank God someone is watching out for us!!

Vitter was truly a nice surprise. He was awesome, yesterday, interrupting Harry Reid to pose questions and raise objections. And, Vitter firmly stood his ground. When Reid offerred to give Vitter 30 minutes to speak, Vitter says...’the time is not the issue...even if I only have 5 minutes, I want to use the time to speak about what I want to speak about not what Speaker Reid wants me to speak about...’
I tried to call Vitter’s office today to say thanks....but, lines were still busy.

Thank you Republican Senator Vitter, Republican Senator DeMint,Republican Senator Coburn and Republican Senator Sessions for leading this battle against this horrible bill that would give Amnesty to 20 million illegals and would allow them to bring their family members to the U.S.A... Thank you for saving the United States.

Shame on you Democrat Senator Clinton, Democrat Senator Obama, Democrat Senator Kennedy Democrat Senator Reid, and the vast Majority of Democrat Senators for voting for Amnesty for illegals and for opposing the will of 85% of the American people. Shame on you liberal, socialist, Stalinist, communist villains for voting to end debate,to pass this horrible bill. This bill would give Amnesty to 20 million illegals and allow them to bring their family members to the U.S.A.. That would turn the U.S. into a 3rd world socialist hell hole. Shame on you liberal villains for trying to destroy the United states and freedom.

The fact that the vast majority of Democrat Senators voted for Amnesty and to end debate shows that the Democrat party is a threat to America, freedom, our prosperity, and our way of life. That Democrats are overwhelmingly for the fairness doctrine , socialist government healthcare, more taxes, more government global warming regulations , etc. , further proves that the Democrat party is a threat to our way of life,to liberty, to every American and to the United states.

Thank the vast majority of Republican Senators that voted against cloture and this Amnesty.

Shame on Bush for opposing the will of 85% of the American people.

And shame on the liberal Democrat Trojan horses like Graham, Lott, McCain, Specter,Hagel, who call themselves Republicans.

Bush acts like a King rather than President.

Above the laws, refusing to enforce ones he doesn’t like.
He has exposed a glaring weakness in our form of government.
And you can bet every power loving politician who wants to be President is paying close attention to how he gets away with it.

This lose lose for Ted is a win win for us right wingers. There is going to be a continued push to enforce the laws and secure the border. Don’t think La Raza will be planning any marches soon. The more they march and harder will be the resistance. Bush and Ted underestimated the people they are suppose to represent. They got the b***h slapping they asked for.

Yes. Seems like that was a common sentiment. Why risk so much on a failed legislation? I wonder what effect the House’s “no confidence” announcement had? With the public up in arms, they probably concluded that the House version would fail, and their names would be attached to a wildly unpopular initiative. Only a fool would sign up for that. Looks like there are a lot of fools in the senate (fool = stupid crook).

Where have you been? This president is a one world boob who has delusions of a North American Union with Mexico and Canada. What better way accomplish this is to flood our country with one hundred million third worlders who will buy the politicians lies.

What we are going to see next is a full campaign by “separating” families in front of the cameras to elicit sympathy from the sheeple. They have to work on public sentiment. Think we’ll see media stories, according to their fairness doctrine, about illegal alien cop killers or vicious illegal alien gang members? NOT!

Let me explain President Bush's method of securing the border. In early 2006 there were more illegals crossing in the Yuma Az. Border Patrol Sector, than any other sector.

On April 18, 2006 President Bush flew into Yuma, Az. for a multi-million dollar photo-op to announce he was going to put National Guard Troops on the Border. My information indicates that the heaviest presence was in the Yuma Sector.

In the beginning, the presence of the Guard was successful because of fear of the military by residents of third world countrys. The flow of illegals slowed, and was diverted to more remote areas where there was less Guard Presence. The flow into the Yuma Sector was greatly reduced.

On April 9, 2007 President Bush kicked off his campaign to pass his "comprehensive immigration reform bill," with yet another multi-million dollar fly in to Yuma Az. announcing how successful his attempts to control the border had been.

June 16, 2007, I spoke with Chris Simcox of the MMCDC, he informed me that the Guard had been withdrawn from the border in central Az. where his people were deployed. At that time there were still a few Guard posts in heavy traffic areas in Southwest Az. usually one post every two to four miles, in some areas less.

Late in the afternoon, June 22, 2007, four days before the "immigration reform bill," was brought back from the dead, the border area along the Colorado River was saturated with National Guard, three to four, National Guard Posts per mile. Word was, that would continue for twelve days. Why 12 days? why now?

My personal observations from ground zero indicate that President Bush has no intrest in doing any more than create the illusion, that he wants to secure the border.
