PLANTATION -- One gunman is dead and another is in critical condition after they tried to rob a sandwich store and were shot by an armed customer Wednesday night, authorities said.
Two armed, masked men entered a Subway restaurant at 1949 N. Pine Island Rd. and demanded money at about 11:17 p.m., said Detective Robert Rettig, a police spokesman.
They then attempted to rob the lone customer by forcing him into the restroom but the customer, who was legally armed, pulled his gun and fired.
One of the suspects was struck in the chest and the other was struck in the head and chest, Rettig said.

The headline reads like the customer was trying to hold up the store and shot a customer in the process. The media sucks.

Possibly saved everyone’s (witnesses) life.It would be faster to just take his money without the bathroom visit.

Well they got a new editor several years ago and an originally mediocre paper became a REALLY crappy liberal paper. Their major competitor, the Miami Herald was always a liberal rag but at least they had good international news reporting and superb reporting on Latin America (for example, Andres Oppenheimer IIRC his name correctly) back during the Contra War/El Salvador stuff. I haven’t been able to stomache either paper for years and with net who needs ‘em? Besides I don’t own a bird.

And what if he was carring without a permit?......, and used his firearm that saved his life? Would this guy be a criminal?

Charges would have been either a misdemeanor FA charge, or referred to the DA, where nothing happened, based upon input from the PPD. Seems they were very citizen friendly in this case...and that’s good...citizens like this make the streets safer, take out the garbage when needed and watch the LEO’s backs.
