For the poll to show
only 54% to be leaning Democrat is evidence of massive failure of the MSM and their friends the socialists. That assumes the numbers are accurate.
A liberal young person isn't surprising; but I'm pleased it isn't bigger...but I also question that high a number.
Also, let some of those liberal kids start getting soaked by the greedy government tax raisers...and then let us see how much they want to pay for everyone else's health care.

Twelve? What took you so long?
Reagan was my hero at the tender age of nine...

In the first place, younger people have always leaned left poltically, so this is not news. In the second place, any study can be designed to produce the result that the surveyors want, and I bet these results are exaggerated because of an insufficient sample size and poorly worded questions.
The New York Times is just trying to comfort itself with a positive story about the left because they’re upset that they can’t get any left-wing policy enacted even with Democrats narrowly controlling Congress.

...or evidence that the dumbing down of our youth by the leftist revolutionaries has been successful, and we are doomed.
Their Road to Damascus conversion to conservatism will begin when they get their first job and look at their pay stub and wonder who the Hell is FICA and why is he getting a cut of his hard earned money.
I know I did. And when they realize as healthy young adults are paying for "Free health care" that they do not need, they will too.

"Reagan was my hero at the tender age of nine..." Yes, but Ike was president when "I" was twelve--not exactly a sterling conservative.

Their views on abortion mirror those of the public at large: 24 percent said it should not be permitted at all, while 38 percent said it should be made available but with greater restrictions. Thirty-seven percent said it should be generally available. How odd that the Times didn't emphasize the fact that 62% of the kids disagree with abortion-on-demand!

In my “Salad Days,” young people were reptilian, prostrate left. To me, they have been losing ground... Which is good news!

The young always lean left. Then they figure out that they are paying for all the ‘free’ government benefits, and the smart ones become fiscal conservatives.

I was a conservative at age twelve.
Heartless bugger... ;-)
