You will never, and I mean NEVER, read a story about a demograhic, voters, or American, in the New York Times that says some group is leaning right.
More blowhard garbage from the leftist Times.
I’d guess this demographic is more interested in dating and discovery than in discerning the political views of a bunch of idiot politicians.
And the NYT says these people are interested in universal health care? Yeah, right. At that age you think you’re invulnerable, and the only doc you’re likely to see is on a TV show.
The NYT is on its monthly recruiting mission, waving the red flag and looking for a beer hall to rent.
Young American’s have always leaned left but they don’t vote until they have kids and then they lean right.
Our taxes lowered even more then Bush has.
Funny, but I’ve seen polls over the last few years that say the exact opposite - kids are increasingly conservative. I’m not going to waste the time searching for them right now. Methinks the NYT did a poll of NY City liberals to get this result.
“Young Americans are more likely than the general public to favor a government-run universal health care insurance system, an open-door policy on immigration and the legalization of gay marriage, according to a New York Times/CBS News/MTV poll. The poll also found that they are more likely to say the war in Iraq is heading to a successful conclusion.”
Who could be surprised since the schools are now more political indoctrination camps than places of learning? Add in a big dose of the horribly slanted media and this is what we get...
My son is thankfully entering private school this year. I hope real education catches hold quickly (he has some catching up to do). I also intend to start a blog that I hope will among other things provide some real educational material for young people, starting with some basic civics lessons.
Ann Coulter said it best when most young people are liberal until the graduate college, get a job and start paying taxes.
I confess I was like that until those three things happened to me.
Funny how harshly the real world slaps you in the face.
I’ve been a conservative since I joined FR at the tender age of 13. Off the top of my head, I can name 5 of my friends who are also republicans (all aged 17 or older). Most of them are a lot more vocal about it than the liberal kids. You never would have found that in my dad’s day (70s). Back then, everyone was liberal or silent.
Don’t believe ANYTHING in the NY Times Slime.
Thats why Chris Mathews does all his shows from some college.
I think sometimes a poll like this is showing a “me, too” phenomenon. All they hear on ABC, CBS, and NBC or read in the MSM is liberal propaganda, not to mention the indoctrination they have received if they attend many of our institutions of higher learning. Young people want to “fit in” and belong to what they perceive as the most popular group. Many of them already have some conservative beliefs, but are reluctant to voice them because they are not seen to be popular or “tolerant”. When they join the real world, marry, and start their own families, their attitudes often change.
You aren't a sheep.
yep Churchill
Anyone else get a private mail from “coorsdark”? Troll warning!
I think it's the Republican Party that's doing the drifting.
Every few years the New York Times runs this same story. I’ve never really believed it, since it’s in the New York Times.
Cry baby’s age 5-6.
“Dont believe ANYTHING in the NY Times Slime.”
The beautiful thing is that after the Dems lose in 2008, the NY Times will once again be muttering about ‘stolen elections’ and on and on...
They just don’t get it.
You were smarter than me. I was a member of TeenDems when I was in high school, and even answered phones for the Democratic Party Telethon.
Today I am a freeper. Churchill was spot on.
