In a just concluded House GOP Conference voted 114 to 23 to reject the Senate's Amnesty Bill.
Pelosi has now signaled that the House will start fresh on the Amnesty Bill and will not just embrace the Senate version.
It looks like, in fact, the House will . . . dare we say it . . . have committee hearings on the bill.

When Pelosi isn’t sleeping in Reid’s hip pocket, he’s sleeping in hers.
This is all for show. There’s no open debate rule in the House.

Hasn’t Pelosi stated several times that she will not bring the immigration bill to the floor unless there are 70 Republican votes in favor? If this is true and she holds to her word (I know) then there is hope. The democrats must have cover on this and they know it, but unlike the Senate the whole House is up for election next year and they know it!

If Heath Shuler from Western Carolina approves of this bill that allows illegal Mexicans to steal American jobs and suppress American wages, a smart opponent would cram it down his football throat from the one yard line.

Thank God for this, but the trouble is, they will start with their own version. I don't expect much better that the nonsense we got from the Senate. And then it goes to committee and we wind up with the full blown BS of the Senate Bill.
And all the Repubs can say they did not vote for the bill as it appears in the final bastardized version, so don't get mad at them.

NIGHT OF THE LIVING BILL...this zombie WONT DIE!Exactly, and the name will be changed to a more comfortable name for the public time and time again until we get tired of fighting it and accept it.
The Zombie bill would make for a good name however.

The House is functioning just like the founders intended. Having to face election every two years this in theory makes them much closer to the public and therefore more likely to abide by their wishes. Since they have been receiving overwhelming rejection on both sides of the aisle, you have to believe that they will punt rather than face up to the real difficult matter of giving the public what it wants. Result, status quo ante.

I think it will.
The Senators can now claim there is no point on voting for it as the House will not not support it.
Hopefully this is the nail that will seal the coffin.

Can’t Bushie see that the Dims are using the amnesty bill to break up the Republican party and drive their base away? It is so obvious to me. The Republican party is going to see a massive drop in donations.

There’s a wing of the republican party that thinks it has no need for security conservatives and social conservatives. They are sadly mistaken.
If they break up Reagan’s coalition, then they will doom the party to a generation of liberal rule....which could be their intention. Their motto: better a degenerate liberal than a damned Christian conservative.

Pelosi put out the word weeks ago that she would not consider the Senate bill unless Bush could guarantee at least 70 votes.
23 in the GOP caucus indicates GW has allot of arm-twisting and pork dangling to reach the magic 70.
