President says 'status quo is unacceptable,' urges support for overhaul

WASHINGTON - President Bush urged lawmakers Saturday to "summon the political courage" to support his top domestic priority, an immigration overhaul that is hanging by a thread in Congress.

"We have an obligation to solve problems that have been piling up for decades," Bush said in his weekly radio address. "The status quo is unacceptable."

A fragile bipartisan compromise on immigration known as the "grand bargain" is due to come back before the Senate as early as next week. After critics sidelined the bill two weeks ago, it is being considered under an agreement to allow votes on a limited number of amendments from both Democrats and Republicans.

Speaking of that, colonias are also common in the United States. These small neighborhoods have no building codes, no sewer systems, no running water, no electricty, etc. and are almost exclusively inhabited by illegals.

The political class likes to frame things in absolute terms, either/or, black and white terms. Statement: "the status quo is NOT acceptable". Says who? That statement is not true. The status quo is acceptable compared to this bill.

Next the political class say things like - "the only thing that can be done is_______"

And 99 times out of one-hundred - there are indeed other options. It is false to say - "the *only* thing that can be done is_______"

I'm afraid that the political class does think we are a bunch of idiots out here.

his top domestic priority

Read that, folks.

Not Abortion - the murder of the unborn.

Not spending - the enslavement of Americans to a monstrous debt.

Not taxation - the mechanism of the enslavement.

Not reducing the size of a massive, unresponsive federal government.

Not the replacement of tyrannical judges who substitute their own opinions for that of the people's representatives, knowing that they will never have to answer to the electorate.

Not the end of a federal bureaucracy that makes 'laws' simply by publishing 'Regulations' which have all the power of laws, and no accountability to the people.

Nope. None of that animates Mr. Bush.

Handing over political power to the aggressive, relentless populace of a fundamentally evil country on our border. That's what animates him.

Anybody still 'for' this guy? Anyone actually vote for him on the basis of this being his 'top' domestic priority?

The only thing that makes any “sense” is money. When push-comes-to-shove, I usually figure there is money behind it.

There is a lotta bizarre stuff going on. In fact, FR had an article where a guy was accusing Blair of submitting to the E.U. and erasing England’s borders for allowing illegal immigration and not letting popular consent rule the country.

I can’t find the article on FR because I can’t remember the title.

The status quo is the situation where our elected officials sell us out to the international financial syndicates. The status quo is the acceptance of treason as a legitimate force to implement change. It is time to shift from the status quo back to enforcement of the laws against treason. It is a given that the Democratic leadership have sold their souls, but who ever thought Jane Fonda and John Kerry would have damaged the country less than the Republican leadership is now trying to do.

his top domestic priority

And I forgot to add:

Not the interior security of our country.

I remember when you could drive this country sea to sea and everyone you spoke to was a countryman: it was heartening. From San Francisco to New York, things were somewhat different, but mostly the same people, attitudes, and most certainly, language. All were Americans. Some of you will bring up the exceptions, but by and large it was true. Anyone over 45 can remember.

But now Mr. Bush wishes to enable those who would break down our walls, undermine our safety. This morning I had the displeasure of watching a slimy jerk from 'the U.S. hispanic chamber of commerce' actually say on national tv that breaking immigration law was like jaywalking.

Know what he's doing? Trying to grind down any resistance to guys like him gaining political power by importing their muscle - their people. Talking down the obstacles. It's an old con game. An old hustle: a gangster tactic.

These are the men who enabled the hijackers to walk freely among us, who pointed fingers at us when we said: who are they? Why are they here?

It's garbage like that who have made what was once one of the safest places on the planet into one of the more dangerous.

And Mr. Bush, the man who claims to be all about security and defense, is their point guy. Their agenda is again...his Top Domestic Priority.

The bodies are piling up in the streets even now. And all we get is a shrug of the shoulders. "Ain't gonna happen to me and mah kin".

I believe their is a worldwide plan to reduce the number of borders and to reduce the number of leaders which will make it easier for the international financial syndicates to control politicians and economic decisions, I call it the rise of corporate monarchies, which like the monarchies of old, will produce royal families with special privileges and immense power. The rest of the world peons will be a like the serfs of old, abused, plundered and subjected to a subhuman status in the royal order.

It isn’t necessary to ‘deport’ them.

Just make the jobs dry up by enforcing the existing law.

It is unspeakable hypocrisy for the President to lament the “status quo” which he is mainly to blame for. He has fostered illegal immigration for the sake of the large corporations that depend on cheap labor. He has arranged things (in violation of the law) so that Mexicans and others have a major incentive to migrate illegally. At the same time Bush has knowingly left our southern border virtually unprotected.

The solution is the same as the problem. THe administration has purposely obfuscated the situation saying that it is “unrealistic” to expel 12 million people. We do not have to. We only have to reverse the incentives.

Come on. As conservatives we believe in a market economy. Not that there should be one but that there always is one even if it is strangled by tyranny. We simply need to change the incentives:

- build the fence that Congress has already mandated.

- enforce that employment laws. Employers should be completely responsible for ascertaining via SS# that people are legal. Congress must mandate that a simple, foolproof means of checking SS# be available to all employers. Fines for breaking this law must be enforced across the board.

- put priority on employers rather than employees. THe recent raids which emphasizes the workers seems calculated to generate sympathy for letting them all stay. We are being manipulated! And, the enforcement is token and selective. Sure some illegals are criminals, drunk drivers, gang members, etc. and must be aggressively deported but most aren’t. I sympathize with these people who have been practically invited in by the Bush administration and industry. But they are illegals. They must leave.

- end the ‘anchor baby’ provision of US law even if a constitutional amendment is necessary.

Please note that the only law changes involved here are a simple, foolproof SS# checking system and the anchor baby provisions.

I am sick of the demands for a “comprehensive” law. I am sick of the Senate (except for a few stalwart conservatives). I am sick of this President. (Wow, two years ago that would have made me a DUmmie troll!)
