Congress: Like the victim of a slick used car salesman tricked into buying a lemon, Americans wish they could return the Democratic Congress their votes bought: Confidence in Congress has hit an all-time low of 14%.
Gallup just announced its annual survey of public confidence in an array of institutions in American life. Our brave men and women in uniform, naturally, were tops: Confidence in the military is at 69%. Small business, the chief jobs creator in our country, came in second at 59%.
Banks garnered only 41%; the Supreme Court, public schools and the medical system were all in the 30s in the confidence rankings.

Schaudenfreud? (May not qualify as we will likely all suffer!)
The Supreme Court does not deserve the 30’s rating it gets. I’d say it deserves a lower rating than Congress, and that Congress’s rating is too high as well.
Where does Congress rank compared to used car salesmen?, lawyers?, snake oil purveyors? carjackers?
congress is lower than whale $h*t
People did not know the cast of characters that were lurking in the minority awol from a freak show.
You got that right. After Kelo vs New London, my confidence in the Supreme Court is sitting about 0%, maybe even a little lower.
This is all over the MSM, just like when the Republicans were in power, right?
Not.
The MSM will say it’s because the Congress hasn’t forced Bush to withdraw from Iraq; hasn’t implemented socialized healthcare, etc.
Burn Washington, DC to the ground.

Howdy! Im a proud member of the 14 %er Club and think weve got the best congress money can buy. Now wheres that jug yall promised me fer sayin this?
With the Republicans in the senate pulling this Amnesty cr*p, I can see why Congress is at 14%.
Um...can you at least warn us soon enough so that my fiance can leave her job early today?
Seeing that vile, venial Harry Reid and Nancy pants Pelosi SHOULD give them heartburn!! Wait til Hillary is PRESIDENTE!!!
Worth changing taglines for.
That’s the ninth time (that I’ve counted so far) that you’ve advocated “burning DC”.
Knock it off before I cool you off...
I was just going to say.
The ONLY way I have heard about this “poll” is through conservative talk and this site. Certainly not in the MSM, either national or local.
So Americans are giving themselves a 14% approval rating?
Na.
Next election they will again vote for free health care, free gas, free education, peace, love, and prosperity, and for anyone who says they will control the weather.
And then whine when they don’t get it.
The Senate should be pulling about the same percentage as Congress ... or at least they deserve it if they pass amnesty on to Congress.
The Democrats should look on the bright side. At least they're pulling in 86% approval ratings from Islamofascists.

Wow! That looks like Ghoulardi’s “Pa-Pa Oo-Mao-Mao” guy!
(I have no idea how to spell that!)
Over 4 million people live in the DC metro area...95% of whom have nothing to do with any specific policy you oppose.
I personally live on the fringe of the area myself - you think I should die because of the stupid acts of Democratic-voting Americans? I’ve never held political office one day of my life.
Frankly, I’m not sure what I find more amusing: the fact that Congress has an approval rating of 14%, or the fact that about 90% of them will still get reelected, regardless.
This congress doesn’t care either. If they fix things just right, they’ll always be in power.
Schools should be in the 20 percentile range.
I think Hillary is going to be ‘Dear Leader’.

Get a clue, America. A Dhimmocrat-led Congress is a warning of things to come in 2009.
Congress has failed.... They must withdraw from D.C. immediately!
Since Pro and Con are opposites....
What's the opposite of Progress?
Maybe he figured the British did it and we are still friends...

That is really astounding. The country is roughly split 50/50 between Democrats and Republicans. If 100% of Republicans have confidence in the military (a pretty safe bet), then 38% of Dems have "confidence in the military." Given the shrill, ultra-leftist, anti-military, anti-Iraq, anti-Gitmo behavior of Dems, I'm shocked that many would have confidence in our military forces.
I guess I'm really mad huh? Since 10-14-1999 that's the first time I've ever been 'spoken to.'
I will comply.
The Brits already did that - didn't help ..
The old joke is
“How do you tell who the FBI agent is at the militia rally?
He’s the one calling for armed revolt.”
The guy’s probably a leftwinger trying to bring discredit to FR.
You're kidding?
You've been here long enough to know better.
Its no accident that incumbancy return rates are what they are. Afterall, the system was designed by politicians for the benefit of politicians.
They're not entirely inmune (yet) to their constituencies, although they're farther removed than you think.
You said: The ONLY way I have heard about this poll is through conservative talk and this site. Certainly not in the MSM, either national or local.

I think I saw a CNN reference to Newsweek (how’s that for 2 losers?) reporting a poll showing Congress at 25% approval, about 3 or 4 paragraphs into an article about BUSH’s low approval rating. No mention of the Gallup numbers, and you are right, I have not heard them anywhere except on Fox News.
Does anyone else have any sightings of the Gallup poll?
Step 1: Move the capital to the Kansas / Missouri border. Turn DC into a huge national museum. This will end the idea of flyover country forever.
Step 2: Term limits. No more than 2 terms for any office.
Step 3: No amendments to any bill that are unrelated to the bill. All unrelated amendments (ie, earmarks) must be put in one bill at the end of the year entitled Miscellaneous Spending. Each section of that bill must clearly state who the sponsor is.
Step 4: End all foreign aid, immediately. NO exceptions. If a country cant make it on its own, its not our problem. Use the money to first pay off the national debt, then reduce taxes accordingly. Evicting the UN from Manhattan is included in ‘ending foreign aid.’
Step 5: Redeploy the entire US Army to the southern border. Create a 500m ‘dead zone’ in which anything moving dies. Relocate the entire US Border Patrol to the Northern Border. Securing the border is no longer a law enforcement mission, but a military one.
No way.
Thanks.
Ghoulardi! Damn, haven’t heard THAT name for a looonnng time. That’d be ERNIE ANDERSON who came from my home town, Cleveland, and brought to Hollywood by his pal — also a former Clevelander from Chagrin Falls — Tim (previously TOM) Conway.
Lost Ernie a number of years ago. Tim still with us (but it IS only Friday).
Both very gifted comics.
And turn our area into the new Northern Virginia? No thank you! My brother had a great line about Northern Virginia when he visited 20 years ago (and it much more true today): Everything is close but nothing is convenient.
That must mean that some moron gave Nancy Boyda a 28% approval to offset me.
But what will they do about it? NOTHING! They will send them all back to DC and then gripe and complain some more.
I admit my congressman stinks. I have never voted for him, but others do so he keeps his job.
