NDIANAPOLIS — A computer simulation of the 2001 World Trade Center attacks supports a federal agency's findings that the initial impact from the hijacked airplanes stripped away crucial fireproofing material and that the weakened towers collapsed under their own weight.
The two-year Purdue University study, funded in part by the National Science Foundation, was the first to use 3-D animation to provide visual context to the attacks, said Christoph Hoffmann, a professor of computer science and one of the lead researchers on the project.

Brackets holding the floor beams were just welded to the exterior vertical columns rather than having a mechanical load bearing configuration. As the floors above collapsed, the bracket welds just sheared off on each successive level.

You wouldn’t believe how many young people I work with still believe the conspiracy theory on 9-11! They have ‘splainin’ for everything, including voice-over for the engineers and 9-11 Commission. They believe the “Bush-ies” had their people voice over the Commissions’ and engineers’ findings so the public wouldn’t realize the attack really did come from our government!

I read somewhere that the terrorist hit both buildings above the absestos floors.
They were using absestos on the towers before it was banned and once it was they stopped. Thus the first tower was hit higher up.
Several materials were considered for the sprayed thermal insulation. The exterior columns required insulation not only for fire protection but also to control column temperatures under service conditions.Alcoa recommended for the exterior columns the use of a sprayed material produced by U.S. Mineral Products, Co. known as CAFCO BLAZE-SHIELD Type D. The same material was eventually selected for the floor trusses and core beams and columns. This product, however, contained asbestos fibers. On April 13, 1970, New York City issued restrictions on the application of sprayed thermal insulation containing asbestos. The use of CAFCO BLAZE-SHIELD Type D was discontinued in 1970 at the 38th floor of WTC 1. The asbestos-containing material was subsequently encapsulated with a sprayed material that provided a hard coating. A green dye was added to the encapsulating material so that the asbestos containing SFRM could be identified. Thermal protection of the remaining floors of WTC 1 and all of WTC 2 was carried out using CAFCO BLAZE-SHIELD Type DC/F, a product that contained mineral wool (glassy fibers) in place of the crystalline asbestos fibers. On the basis of tests, it was reported that Executive Summary Draft for Public Comment xxxvi NIST NCSTAR 1-6A, WTC Investigation the thermal properties of CAFCO Type DC/F were equal to or “slightly better” than those of CAFCO Type D.

I am amazed by the information that can be found and authoritatively verified through an Internet search. Asbestos is a bad guy so many media sources write cover stories to keep the bad guy image and exonerate poor political decision making.

The "little" fact that they leave out is that the main towers blew out the first 10 floors of WTC7 and then WTC7 caught fire and collapsed. The moonbats don't like to discuss that the first 10 floors were blown out with the force of a volcano.
