I’ve seen the pictures. The Japanese were awful. When my Dad’s boss died in the 70’s-his final request no Japanese at his funeral. He was forced to work with some because of the business he was in-he lost a son at the Japanese death camps which killed untold thousands of American soldiers.

Scary how much many in modern day Japan deny this and other atrocities and how they try to whitewash them from textbooks, etc. The Rape of Nanking is very well documented. We have pictures. We have testimony from survivors. We have testimony from Japanese soldiers. We have testimony from missionaries in the city. This sort of denial is little different from holocaust denial.

I am not kind to the Japaneese. I have been there and they still hold nuking them against us because they are not taught many truths about the war and what they did, both to start it and the atrocities they commited both during and before.

I saw the newsreel of Japanese soldiers throwing Chinese civilians in a hole and burying them alive.
I can’t forget it sixty years later.

Rhetorically, I inquire, why the f-ck cannot these Dumbassed Jap morons realize that history is NOT going away and one cannot massage it.
They did what they did and it has been recorded on paper, on film and everyone in the world knows it. Suck it up, Hiro. You murderous creeps committed war crimes and there is no escape. A fresh coat of paint applied to a shithouse does not make it the Waldorf Astoria.

I just can’t ever bring myself to trust the Japanese. We trusted Toshiba during the Cold War and they sold our secrets to to the Soviets so that the Soviets could make submarine props that we couldn’t detect.
This is just blatant revisionism.

Nanjing happened.
We put Japanese Americans in camps, it happened.
There were lynchings of black people in the South, it happened.
Germany killed millions of Jews and Poles, it happened.
The Spanish Inquisition happened.
We know these horrors and thousands more are true, we can’t deny them. What we can do is move on and try as hard as possible to never do it again.
But when we attempted to pretend they were not real we leave the door open for the horrors to happen again.

They US did inter Issei and Nissei and that is regrettable. Still, I don't believe you are comparing that to the Rape of Nanjing nor to the atrocities committed on Japanese POW's. Please tell me you aren't making that comparison.

Of course there were Japanese living on the west coast who were sent by their government (Japan) to commit acts of sabotage. It would seem the camps (with good housing, schools, etc...) were the right idea!
Unfortunately we lack the resolve to do the same thing today.

One of my father’s good friends from boyhood was a Bataan Death March survivor. The man was never the same, and came back with an abiding hatred of the Japanese, and would have nothing to do with them or own any Japanese product. Otherwise a seemingly sane and normal guy, if not physically well (as a result of his experiences).

Japanese soldiers threw Chinese babies in the air and caught them on the end of bayonets in Nanking. They used barbed wire to bind the captured Chinese into bundles of ten and tied them onto racks. Then, they poured gasoline on them and burned them alive. You can look it up.
"We took turns raping them. We always stabbed and killed them. When we were raping her, we looked at her as a woman. But when we killed her, we just thought of her as something like a pig." --Azuma Shiro, Japanese soldier.
Hiroshima and Nagasaki were earned.
To: DuncanWaring
I should read that, DW. I knew a survivor of the Bataan death march who could never, ever talk about it.
Because of the nukes, the U.S. would not hold a War Crimes Tribunal. It is a shame. The Chinese and the Koreans (everyone conveniently forgets them) suffered horribly. The use of “comfort girls” is still a really sore issue in Korea for the older generation.

And there are STILL many who deny that what we did in Dresden was an act of terror, pure and simple. Very little military value, much psychological value, a goodly percentage of the worlds great artworks and musical instruments destroyed. Not that the Nazis didn’t start it and are not ultimately responsible, but we did NOT need to firestorm 70-100K civilians to death.

We did the same to the civilian areas of Tokyo. Depending on whom you talk to, more died with fire bombs than with either nuke.
Then again, the destruction of Tokyo along with Nagasaki and Hiroshima prevented an invasion, and certainly stopped the war before the Soviets could invade.
