BOSTON - U.S. Senator Edward Kennedy said Monday that failing to pass immigration reforms would push illegal immigrants into isolation and create breeding grounds for homegrown terrorists. Kennedy pointed to several European countries where he said alienation and immigration problems has led to terrorist acts.
"Just look what happened in Great Britain, with the isolation of the communities," Kennedy said at a meeting of the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce. "Look what has happened in France. Look what has happened in Germany. Look where the cells are in terms of al-Qaida. They’re all in different communities, which failed to assimilate individuals."
The Massachusetts Democrat is a leading proponent, along with President Bush, of legislation that would grant millions of illegal immigrants lawful status, while tightening border security and creating new measures for weeding illegal workers off of job sites. The legislation has stalled in Congress amid criticism _ especially from conservatives _ that it gives lawbreakers amnesty.
But Kennedy said passing such legislation was critical to the country’s national security, among other arguments. "Why is it that virtually no Muslims in India are members of al-Qaida. Has anybody asked that question?," Kennedy asked. "It’s because they all feel they’re included."
If we were serious about national security...Ted Kennedy would be in Gitmo.

I agree with Ted that immigration reform is key to national security. That’s why the fact that the 1986 amnesty did not do anything to stop illegal immigration, and in fact gave incentives for 15 to 20 million more to come in, is the fault of the people who passed the 1986 act, people such as Edward Kennedy himself. So if there are Al Qaeda sleeper cells that came in through the open border, I hold him personally responsible. It’s amazing that he has the gall to not take any accountability for the open border and to continue to wag his finger in our face! When is a senator going to call him out for all the Big Government initiatives that have failed?

Here in Mexico, it’s kind of a shame that 20 million of our workers had to brave heat, desert snakes, tunnels, guns, to be caught, of course they aren’t felons, because they didn’t break the law. If they HAD of broken law, then the Cheif of Police, Sheriff, Game Wardens, or Fire Chief, or Highway Patrol could apprehend them, but they are protected. I wonder why Jesse Jackson doesn’t come out of his limo’s to do a press conference as some of these jobs according to our Ex President Vicente Fox....well you know he said there were jobs even Jesse’s friends refused to do. So, I guess if you don’t want to clean your own toilet and wash your dishes, you better get to passing that immigration bill and let all of these non felons drink from your public soup lines.
