Just because you can't fight city hall doesn't mean City Hall can't fight you.
Tuesday night, Mayor Rocky Anderson got into a heated exchange with Dell Loy Hansen, one of Utah's biggest developers.
Now, 24 hours after their fight, Hansen feels like he's getting a "bum" rap.
Tuesday night began after a meeting at City Hall, one where the mayor and Hansen did not make nice.
According to the Mayor, Hansen confronted him in a hallway. And, again according to the Mayor, Hansen then put his arm on Anderson to which the mayor said:
Rocky Anderson: "I said I would kick his ass."
To which Hansen, in a phone interview from Logan said:
Dell Loy Hansen: "We were both animated. You were angry, you kicked my ass. I didn't say I was going to kick yours. I just walked away."
Anderson claims Hansen owes the city money from one of his buildings.
But Hansen says he gave the city a 583-thousand dollar check Tuesday night.
Anderson: "I was just doing my job and I'll continue to do my job to protect public monies."
Hansen: "I said if we even questionably owe it, pay it."
Hansen also says the mayor is attacking him because the developer actively supports Republicans.
Hansen: "I think it's because we're republicans, I honestly do."
Anderson: "He's crazy if he thinks this is about politics."
Hansen even jokingly suggested an old fashioned duel might be one way to end the bickering.
Hansen: "I am reading this book on Lincoln and it seems to be a very effective way to settle irascible disputes."
ABC 4 News: "He jokingly suggested that maybe the way to settle this was a duel?
Anderson: I think that he needs some medication."
Hansen insists he will pay everything he owes, even the interest.
But when I asked the mayor if the city is thinking about taking Hansen to court, the Mayor said, "absolutely."
For anybody who has forgotten, Rocky is the guy that debated Sean Hannity.
How does a moonbat like Rocky Anderson get elected in
a city that is mostly Mormon?
More to the point, Rocky is the guy who addressed an anti-war moonbat rally while the President was in Salt Lake.
How did that debate turn out anyway? I missed it.
It was great theater. IMHO, they are both lightweights.
SLC is VERY lib.
The reason for that was very simple, Rocky was NOT invited to shake the Presidents hand.
Salt Lake City, the liberal bastion of an otherwise, great state.

Ah yes, Rocky. The kooky mayor who now wants to sell the airspace above the new City Creek development project so that a skybridge can’t be built.
