No, I didn’t know that.
But I don’t think the phrase “very patience’s” has anything to do with dyslexia.

“There are pros and cons to every things’

There are also two sides to every piece of flypaper.
And the fly had better be darned careful which side he lands on.

Body slam!

Finger-in-door SLAM!

Grabit, SLAMIT, stabit, slabit, damnit!

Laundry balls, Laundry balls;
I've got great big laundry balls!
Toss them in, watch'em spin;
Cleans without puttin' soap in!

Oh, wait; those are someobdy else's scam...but only because Alticor/Amway neither thought of them first, nor could manage to steal buy the rights.

Scammin' in the mornin'
Scammin' in the evenin'
Scammin at supper time!
Join my pyramid, and scam all the time!

My Mom was an Avon Lady when we were kids and she was a SAHM. She LOVED it and made the “grocery money” each month selling it. I used to love how she’d paint each of her fingernails and toenails a different color so she could show her customers what each color looked like. She thought that marketing idea up all by herself. Proud of ya, Mom!

We girls couldn’t get enough of playing with her teeny, tiny lipstick samples and little bottles of perfumes. :)

My pal Kelly has made a mint selling Tupperware. She drips with diamonds and has plenty of cash to send her kids on to college even after paying for their private religious school education. She has a sense of humor similar to “The Sweet Potato Queens” and her demonstrations were “standing room only” for many, many years.

You’re either a true Salesman or you’re a schmuck. Ask any Girl Scout who has a ‘Cookie Quota’ to meet. ;)

But Amway, in any form, scares the be-jeezers out of me!

I remember mom taking me to a Stanley party back in the mid-forties. The other kids and I had a ball smearing mud on the visitor’s cars...

If you are in Amway, get out now.

You will never regret it.

At least look at what the naysayers are saying. Truth is sometimes ‘negative’.

I actually have a modest amount of respect for Amway’s system, based on the model I was introduced to 10 to 12 years ago. I carefully studied this model. It is not a pyramid or a scam. But it won't work unless you work. It's not magic, it's basic retail.

1. Their cleaning and vitamin products, and makeup are high performing and high quality, with a money-back guarantee, no questions asked, EVEN FOR AN EMPTY CONTAINER. (Who can object to that?) These are consumables everyone uses. You can dilute them to various strengths

2. Anyone can afford to buy a distributor kit, which is comprised mostly of products you can use.

3. No minimum purchases required. Ever.

4. Anyone can sell retail, and pocket the difference. Lots of people like to have a neighborhood person who can cater to them.

5. There are no territories staked, either by geography or past participation. In other words, anyone can be your customer.

6. If you do decide to heavily grow a business, it is easy to duplicate (you don’t have to reinvent a wheel). Here is the model:6B. Sell the products to anyone at any price. This builds your own private retail business -- but only if you want to.
6C. Anyone who joins under you can duplicate A and B easily. Remember: a very low-cost kit, mostly containing products. YOU decide who sells "under" you and how much time, if any, you give them for support. If you want to send them "up" the chain for support, they are still your person.

This may sound rather “silly,” but I really loved using the products. Fresh, low-chemical, high-performing, pleasant to use.

I once cleaned my female roommate’s house using Amway products and the Amway “canister” vacuum. When she came home, she couldn't’t believe the results. Old carpet stains were removed from her whole living/dining area (very little effort). it looked like new carpet had been installed when she got home. Her terracotta tiles used to have very hardened stains and blotches. When I got done, it was spotless, gleaming, and like new. Her stainless steel sink looked like it was newly installed. Her countertops were beautifully cleaned and reconditioned. And with the vacuum, in her bedroom alone, a removed an enormous amount of cat hair from the carpet. (It filled a very large Ziploc bag, just from her small room.) I also remember the wonderful spray starch. Boy, did my shirts look good. So easy to use. And the hand soap was wonderful -- a tiny amount did the trick, and it was very creamy, felt great on the skin.

If the old Amway comes back, I may just buy a kit and start getting products...

LOC, SA-8 -- these are products my mother used in our home. And yes, she was at one time a distributor.

Amway has soiled it’s own bed. When a nationally-known company has to change their name a number of times (which is EVERYTHING in marketing), then you know all is not well from deep within.

Some distributors prey on people, but some do not. That is not a flaw n the system, it is a basic universal flaw in the human character.

It is not a pyramid scheme, or close to a pyramid scheme. It is a franchising system. Study the model very carefully. It is not only sound, it is available for very little money to anyone. The initial kit is mostly product. And the products are returnable, no questions asked, even if the products are used up completely. (Yes, you heard me correctly - you can return empty containers for full refunds, no questions asked.)

After buying the kit, you get great products wholesale — but only if you want them. No minimum purchases, ever. If you want, you can sell products at any price point - wholesale, retail, or in-between. But you don’t have to.

Anyone under you gets the same deal as you. Your success is not limited to when you “came into” the program, and your downline’s success is not limited by you.

You don’t need business experience or special training for this. The system is easy to learn and easy to duplicate. You don’t have to deliver products to people, unless you choose to. And if you build a “direct” business (which can be done in a year or two — if you work hard), all your products and your downline’s products are delivered to you by truck.

You are rewarded for hard work in this system. With hard work, you can become a “direct distributor”. This is like owning your own small store. It is a great husband-wife business. A traditional husband-wife team can work very well together and build a business together.

There is ZERO financial risk, because you don’t keep an inventory, ever — unless your retail business is so large that you turn over products so quickly you choose to keep basics “in stock.” But you are never obliged to carry inventory, and even if you do, you can return it all at any time for a full money-back guarantee.

If you are your spouse decide to bring people in under you, you can use your own home, and you have no “entertaining” to do. Refreshments are actually product samples, and by sampling these products at low cost you generate income in sales.

What specific, concrete knowledge of the franchise system to you object to? How much actual knowledge do you have?

I just watched it a couple weeks ago, one of my favorites. You know you’re getting old when you remember when the Wayans brothers actually EARNED the reputation they have.

Whoa, I go out with my son for a bite to eat, and come back to a mailbox full of pretty darn creepy Freeper messages. Imagine my surprise!

TomB, I’m addressing this to you because you were the first who commented to my post and quite frankly, I don’t give a rip about taking the time to copy and paste the other addresses and responding to the other crap. I just want to put a response on the forum. And instead of your quip, how about just asking me why I might have posted what I did.

I have been part of this forum for several years. I rarely post - mainly because I don’t want to be the recipient of potential acerbic and often destructive responses/comments.

Several years ago one could expect and experience meaty discussion - as in an exchange of ideas with attempts at informing one another, possibly reaching consensus, but almost always respectful.

Not so anymore. My post could have said more than “Stop.” I could have used the negative tone others are using. Rather, I limited it to “stop” because I’m tired of reading negative beating up of entities and people here. I can go to MSM for that crap.

I am not associated with Amway, but from what I know they have done far more to promote a civil society than most of the remainder of our country. I wouldn't’t be surprised if that included you and the other people lashing out on this forum. Alticor, Amway are doing something - most people just bitch.

Unfortunately, this tone and type of the Amway “discussion” has become more of the norm for this forum. And, yeah, I know I don’t have to be here.

Who are these morons that think, “Hey after spending truckloads of money over many years to build up a name-brand recognition, I want to leave my mark on the company by making a name change”? Borland->Inprise->back to Borland, Crayola->Binney & Smith, Sear’s Hardware -> Orchard Supply. Idiots!

My guess was always that the name change to Alticore/Quixtar was done in part, if not entirely, to change the ownership structure of the company to the 2nd and 3rd generations from the co-founders. The legal structure of the company has always been very shrewd; it is one of the most sucessful privately owned companies in the country in the last 50 years.
