School Board Finds 'Gay Gene' Montgomery County, Md. School Board finds "gay gene" -- Violates State Board of Education's Order ROCKVILLE, Maryland, June 13 /Christian Newswire/ -- PFOX released this statement in response to the Montgomery County School Board's approval of a new sex education curriculum for public schools: "According to the American Psychiatric Association, there are no replicated scientific studies supporting any specific biological cause for homosexuality.

But now the Montgomery County Board of Education has done what science and medicine could not do by declaring in its newly approved curriculum that homosexuality is "innate" or inborn. The board could not produce any factual evidence for what it will now teach students -- only political "pledges" and payoffs for last year's school board elections as claimed by gay rights activists.

The board has demonstrated its bias and arrogance in ignoring the March 7, 2007 Order of Maryland State Superintendent Nancy Grasmick that states that the Maryland Board of Education will render a decision in July on the legal appeal of the curriculum. PFOX, Citizens for a Responsible Curriculum, and Family Leader Network had filed an appeal of the proposed curriculum, citing factual inaccuracies and violations of state and federal law.

The local board's action in adopting a final curriculum without waiting for the state board's decision as to the legality of that curriculum tramples on the rights of parents and violates the intent of the Superintendent's Order. In her Order, Grasmick cites the curriculum's attempt to address harassment problems relating to sexual orientation and gender identity. PFOX has documented how the curriculum fails to provide instruction on tolerance of ex-gays -- a group that is the object of harassment encouraged by Montgomery County public school staff and students, a fact which the Montgomery County Board of Education does not deny.

When PFOX distributed flyers to the high schools urging tolerance of the ex-gay community, the faculty at multiple schools cooperated with Gay Straight Alliance (GSA) student clubs to oppose our message of tolerance. A typical example was Winston Churchill High School where GSA students were allowed to place trash cans in the school hallways and carry trash bags labeled "PFOX" to urge all students to trash their ex- gay flyers.

The principal, Dr. Joan Benz, stood by the trash cans to ensure that the protest against ex-gays would not be disturbed. At Wootten High School, a gay teacher and co- sponsor of the school's GSA club warned PFOX to stay out of the public schools, compared sexual preference to African-Americans' skin color, and also compared PFOX to the Ku Klux Klan. This discriminatory treatment is not corrected by the curriculum on teaching tolerance for sexual orientation because former homosexuals are not included in the curriculum. Why did the Board approve a curriculum that is supposed to teach respect for diverse sexual orientations when it excludes former homosexuals -- the only sexual orientation that is subject to intolerance by both students and teachers? We wait for the Maryland State Board of Education to correct the failings of the local board and protect the civil rights of all groups, and not just gays, bisexuals and cross-dressers."

Suppose there is a gay gene, and that it can be detected prenatally. Suppose a woman is bearing a gay fetus. If she aborts for this reason, she is engaged in discrimination based on sexual orientation, but if she is prohibited from aborting on this basis, it infringes on her right to choose.

Discuss.

These people aren’t just doing this because they are secular humanists. I’ve met secular humanists who know that something isn’t natural when the parts fit together as they do in male and female.

These people are just perverts, pure, plain, and simple.

The “gay gene” would be the nail in the coffin for abortion on demand.

A woman would have to get a court order and prove that she wasn’t aborting because of sexual orientation.

Only hetero babies would be allowed to be terminated.

Let's try this with paragraphs:

Montgomery County, Md. School Board finds "gay gene" -- Violates State Board of Education's Order

Yep I heard about and just finished reading it. It was on WMAL all day yesterday.

Interestingly enough this is the second time the board has passed this same curriculum. The first time 2 years ago a state judge issued a cease and desist order. I’m guessing PFOX et al will pursue the same legal remedies.

This is why we send Clint Jr to private school.

If they ever actually found a "gay gene", I wonder how that would change the abortion debate.
Would the homosexual lobby suddenly find something in common with the conservatives?

Think about it. Democrats have no problems with gay babies ... as long as they're someone else's gay babies . . .

Having have to deal with this for nearly two decades at our schools, (I think Santa Cruz was ahead of the curve), I can tell you I have heard dozens of speakers who claim they are homosexual, both men and women.
Without exception every female homosexual stated they had been molested as a child.
Nearly every male homosexual had some incident in their lives which they could pin point that lead them to believe they were different somehow and there was a very nice man who helped them (none claimed to have been molested).
One fellow was beaten daily by his father, who he says screamed at him “be a man”, his response to the audience was, “well I showed him”.
One young man being raise by a female homosexual told the audience that his mother told him to experience sex with men because why limit yourself to only half the population.
What I never understood was how they and most in the audience could not see that this behavior was a choice (because of a variety of things) not inborn.

The way this will be handled will be to make any prenatal testing for gayness a prohibited hate crime. Already, research into prenatal detection of homosexuality is something researchers do not want to go near

Your guess would be wrong if you believe the Bible. Maybe you don’t, but it is true none the less. Romans 1:18-32. The sodomite product is found in Romans chapter one along with the course that leads to it. It begins with not honoring God as God and being unthankful. Then it proceeds from there through idolatry including the worship of man himself. Man who worships man is susceptible to the lure into the practice of sodomy, and that involves a reprobate mind — a mind that ceases to reason and think correctly.

If sexual preference/identity is innate...then pedophilia, bisexuality, bestiality, S&M, et al; must be innate.

Thus...all these different preferences/identities need special groups/laws to see they are not maligned, prosecuted, denigrated and so forth.

I would bet there are a myriad of causes for homosexuality and other perversions, such as brutal fathers, seductive mothers, childhood molestation, on and on...

But innate? I don’t think so.

Think about this logically....

If there were such a thing as a "gay gene", it would have been bred out of the population thousands of years ago (before societal pressures). Gays do not reproduce.

Only possibility that I can think of if it's an abnormality, in which case it wouldn't be appearing in 10% of the population (as claimed by gay activists) or even 2-3% (as claimed by reality).

IMHO, it's some sort of a chemical imbalance, perhaps reinforced by behavior. The whole issue has become so political that we'll likely never know.

I'm not saying that there is one, but any recessive gene can remain in the population. Granted, without societal pressures to make those with two recessive genes reproduce, it should actually show up even less often.

My point was that if it is genetic, then there can be a genetic test for it. If there's a genetic test, people could conceivably abort for that reason as well as for any other reason.

If homosexuality is the natural state for gays, then why are they so driven to adopt, or in the case of lesbians to have a baby of their own? If their natural state is one that does not make it possible to procreate, why do they have this natural desire to procreate?

The school board is right, they are born that way.

All are born sinners.

If, while we seek to be justified in Christ, it becomes evident that we ourselves are sinners, does that mean that Christ promotes sin? Absolutely not!
Galatians 2:17

Pray for this school board and all those who live in their district. Pray for the salvation of this Principal. Pray for any teachers there who may Christians. What a hostile place to work that must be. Pray for the truth to be revealed.

homosexuality is a behavior

That's still a bit sloppy, linguistically.

Maybe it's best to differentiate "same-sex attraction," which is not a behavior and not necessarily a sin (though it is a treatable defect the way a broken leg is a non-sinful treatable defect), with "homosexual behavior."

Exactly the point I was making above, that we’re born with a “sin” gene.

Of course, when it comes to Same Sex Attraction, some may be born with it, and others may develop it through some sort of abuse. People have physical and emtional and mental handicaps from both birth and abuse/accidents; it’s the same for the defect of Same Sex Attraction.

Ok, I should have said manifests itself in a behavioral action.

As far as same sex attraction if you mean culminating in a sexual act, that is a behavior that can be changed.
If you mean same sex attraction, “like hey thats guys cute” or “what a babe”.

Sorry, but there is so much “talk” about attraction, that people can no longer distinguish between love and intercourse.

In the homosexual community, they can not tell the difference.

I am a senior at Winston Churchill High School, and was actually there during the protest. No one really cared about the PFOX letter or the protest. Only the gay and “emo” kids participated, and they are losers (no one really likes them). The school is in Potomac, MD; a very wealthy area in the country near D.C. where mostly all kids are worried about which ivy they will be applying to.

...physical and emotional and mental handicaps from both birth...

True, and medical research has succeeded in determining the causes of many birth defects. Some combinations of recessive genes, for instance, can badly affect the children of those who inherit these genes.

As yet, no research has proven that homosexuality is inborn. svcw at Post 23 tells of personal experience on the subject.

What is an "emo" kid? I"m guessing it means anyone with emotional problems...one who is not necessarily gay.

I'm curious to know why the general school population sees gay kids as losers. (I could ask the same question about "emos", but I'm focusing now on gay students.)

Do they also have the similar thoughts about Derrick Ryan, a teacher at the school? He is a homosexual, if what I've read is true.

BTW, and unless you already know it--- Homophobia means "fear" of homosexuals. It does not mean "hate" of homosexuals. This is a concocted definition aimed at anyone who refuses to accept their behavior as normal.
