Kelly Clarkson: I've never been in love

NEW YORK (AP) -- Kelly Clarkson, who rails against a former flame in her new song "Never Again," says she's never been in love.

"I love my friends and family," the Grammy-winning singer and original "American Idol" tells Elle magazine in its July issue. "But I have never said the words 'I love you' to anyone in a romantic relationship. Ever."

Clarkson, 25, doesn't take romance lightly.

"I am very old-school, conservative in my thinking when it comes to relationships," she says. "Love is something you work at. It doesn't come easily. There are going to be bad days. You are going to have to work at loving someone when they are being an idiot."

She adds: "People think they're just going to meet the perfect guy. Don't be ridiculous." (Watch why Clarkson is one of Hollywood's "good girls" Video)

Glad to see a popular singer saying the word "conservative" in a positive, life-sustaining context. She seems to have her head on pretty straight, despite some past indiscretions. She's also looking pretty good these days (pics to follow...)

Dear Kelly,

I love you.

There, I said it.

She just hasn’t met *ME* yet. ;-)

I love you, Kelly — even if you are appearing at GoreFest next month.

You'll like this, then. I'm not a rabid Clarkson fan or anything, but I'll give the girl credit for doing a decent job in a tough business.

Oh, man. You beat me by 16 seconds.

Kelly, it’s not who’s first. It’s who hates Bill Clinton the most, baby.

Don't sweat, I don't think she's too impressed by speed. Seems like the slow-and-easy type...

Good or bad, celebrities deserve no attention.

Still... congratulations Ms. Clarkson for achieving baseline standards.

Baseline standards? Huh? Paris Hilton is a celebrity. Kelly Clarkson is a world-class singer.

I'm anxious to see Kelly team up with Reba for a new edition of CMT Crossroads, debuting Sunday, June 24th and repeating several times after that on the country music television channel. Should be a blast!

My pleasure, she's a cute girl.

I'm trying to get a date on some of the pics around the web, and having trouble locating something documented as recent. I don't know when the pink wallpaper was done.

I'd say she's a legitimate and talented artist, not just a celeb. As a life-long musician, I have a lot of respect for somebody who can achieve a Grammy.

I agree that if she were only an untalented celeb (Anna Nicole Smith comes to mind) she wouldn't be worth the trouble to post.

AP - Tue Jun 12, 11:55 AM ET Kelly Clarkson performs 'Never Again,' during the finale of 'American Idol' at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles, Wednesday, May 23, 2007. Despite singing about bad breakups Clarkson tells Elle magazine that she's never been in love.

I’ve been in love approximately 1,675,521 times in my life. Either that means Kelly is much more mature than me, or that means I’m a male and she’s a female (or all of the above).

I would think more like your head is not attached to your shoulders.

Do you have fainting spells often?

I would think more like your head is not attached to your shoulders.

Come on, now. What's worth pursuing in life if not love?

And to be honest, a guy being "a guy" is a refreshing thought these days considering what the liberals are trying to turn them into! : )

Good for Kelly, though. She's playing around in a den of snakes with her career, best to avoid getting bitten.

Wasn't clear if the poster was pursuing love or a bout of lust.

re: # 16  /  -> (pics on 4)  /  ...potatoes ??

I might need an interpretation, - oh never mind, I think I get it.

My first thought is #16 should be deleted. Wrong thread / poor taste.

But since it is there, might as well leave it so we can discuss it.

From the pics in #4, it looks like she has the figure that God gave her. What we don't want to promote on FR or elsewhere, is guys & girls / young women thinking that they are missing something or that God forgot something. And that they then have to run to plastic surgery or drugs to solve some imagined problem or deficiency. Everyone in agreement w/ that?

OBTW, if anyone thinks they need more potatoes, check the garden or try here:
