It's aliiiive! (Immigration Bill)

The corpse of S. 1348 is twitching. Remember: I pronounced it "down but not quite dead" after the cloture vote last Thursday. Now, Bush-Reid-Kennedy will be working overtime the next few days to prop it back up on the Senate floor, reports the NYTimes:

Senate Democrats opened the door to reviving the stalled immigration measure on Sunday, calling on Republicans to resolve their internal divisions and produce an agreement on how to move the legislation forward.

With Bush administration officials and Republican authors of the overhaul saying they had not given up on the bill, the spokesman for Senator Harry Reid of Nevada, the majority leader, said Mr. Reid would be willing to try again if Republicans agreed to a defined number of amendments and a time limit on debate.

“If and when Republicans can agree on a limited number of amendments and agree on the need to get this bill passed, Senator Reid is committed to finding room on the Senate schedule as soon as possible,” said Jim Manley, the spokesman, who said President Bush needed to play a role as well. “The hope is that he can apply enough pressure to provide the votes we need to get the bill out of the Senate.”

Mr. Bush is scheduled to visit the Capitol on Tuesday for a lunch with Senate Republicans. That meeting will come just days after the immigration proposal, one of his chief domestic priorities, was derailed when an effort to bring a two-week debate to a close came up far short of the votes needed.

On Sunday, Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez said the administration was “more determined than ever” to push the measure, which has drawn strong opposition from conservatives.

The "Grand Bargainers" will be toiling behind closed doors again. As I've warned many times, if they can't get what they want in one "comprehenshive" package, they will do what they've done for years under the radar--break off their favorite enforcement-undermining provisions and pass amnesty piecemeal.

Don't forget the amnesty hotline number--1-800-417-7666--if you'd like to get through to your senators and help drive a stake through this monstrously bad bill once and for all.

They just don't give up. Hopefully enough GOP senators who supported this shamnesty bill before won't want to get burned again by supporting it this time around.

Has any President in history tried to pass a bill four times in the face of overwhelming opposition by the public and even moreso by his own party?

George Bush is indeed creating his very own historic "legacy".

The Senate PIMPS have already taken money by contractors
etc. to ram this bill through. They must perform
for their johns.

Having already SOLD America (illegal, but ignored),
the Senate PIMPS MUST continue, or the contractors
will either want their money back, or will get
even other ways.

I just called my RINO senator and told him again how much I hate him, how we will humiliate him if he ever sets foot in the county again, how we look forward to humiliating him with a massive defeat if he dares to file for re-election in '08, how much we're supporting the Republican who has filed to defeat him already.

Yes, I'm talking about The Hagelmonster himself.

It feels good. Do it to your congressRINO too. And suck some money out these pro-amnesty people by using their 800 number.

Not just the contractor trade groups, but also K Street lobbyists and other heavyweight trade groups representing meatpacking, fast food, restaurants, florists, home building, and every other employer of low-skill and semi-skill labor in the U.S. They want to keep their supply of unedcated, unskilled, non-English speaking peasant labor.

But they are very much allied with other K Street "advocates" and unions (aka, even more lobbyists) who need new members and victims .... errrr ... "clients" (e.g., American Immigration Lawyers Assoc.).

These leeches all expect Congress to deliver what they demand in exchange for election votes and PAC money and God knows what else.

As reported last week:

Interest groups pushing for the bill said Democrats were supposed to deliver 35 votes and Republicans were supposed to deliver 25. "From our point of view we did our job, and from our point of view the Republicans didn't," said Frank Sharry, executive director of the National Immigration Forum, which wants a bill that offers a path to citizenship to illegal aliens.

And if we are going to be effective in DEFEATING him, Americans need to know who that someone IS and their agenda.

WHO? The bipartisan, globalist OPEN BORDERS LOBBY.

WHY? The creation of a NORTH AMERICAN UNION.

$hit in the game. Someone has him by the short ones and he has to deliver "or else."

It goes without saying. I have one list of the lobbyists (aka "trade associations") supporting Amnesty, and no doubt they are applying pressure to everyone. But Bush (as demonstrated by his past obesiance to Vincente Fox) may be looking at something beyond the normal arm-twisting.

Regardless, my original question stands: has any other President in history *ever* pressed a bill four separate times, even though his own party despises and rejects it?

It might have happened, but I really doubt it.

That’s right; and unfortunately they are killing America and it’s people in the process. I can’t tell you how much these people disgust me. It may be cheap labor for them for a while; but not for the taxpayer. I can hardly keep up with bills myself; much less pay for ingrates.

When GW leaves office, I hope I never see his face or hear about him again.

It is time to call these number and new numbers. I don’t have the new numbers but these are the ones which are unpublished. using the same method as the telemarketers, take a base number such as 202-224-3121, and dial lower and higher numbers. Example using the last four digits, 3120, 3119 etc. Every answer you get deliver the message.

The published numbers may now have inbound traffic restrictions, the telco system will be programed to only accept a predetermined number of inbound calls to the Senate which equates to the faucet being turned down to a drip. You will get a busy signal, but not because the dam burst, but because a percentage of incoming calls is only allowed through the pipe

The American Meat Institute ran this ad in Congressional Quarterly last year (AMI members including Hormel, Tyson, Cargill, and several hundred other companies process 70 percent of America's annual meat output). Regarding immigration Amnesty, the "trade associations" are allied with many powerful unions and immgration "advocacy" groups.

This list is representative, and by no means all-inclusive of the hundreds of groups supporting immigration Amnesty.:

"Though no one wants to reward illegal behavior, we must find a way for these workers to come forward, make good on the past and participate in a program that leads to permanent residency and eventual citizenship."

That was a pathetic joke, wasn't it?

It only motivated me to call EVERY SINGLE MEMBER of my state's House Of Representatives delegation once again, as well as both Senators, the RNC, the state GOP, and the White House. Each of the above also got a followup email.

That was the second time in two weeks, inspired entirely by the ComPost article.

By the way, no one I spoke with agreed with the Post's reporting, and everyone was aware of that article.

Just curious, what leads you to say that? Are you in the telco biz (sincere question)?

Issue resolved. Build a wall, enforce existing laws and once twelve million illegals have been identified, bring a new immigration bill back to us and we’ll consider it.
