Berger had only copies of documents; all the originals remain in the government's possession.Of course those were the copies with Bill Clinton's handwritten notes in the margins, but we won't go into that...

He was already “disbarred” when he wasn’t sent behind bars.

What a crock. He was doing his best to keep the secrets of what he has done. The disbarrment investigation could have gone areas where the trial neglected and could have been a far reaching investigation. Rather than be subject to being under any sort of investigation, he gave up his liscense so the proceeding could not b3e held.
Think about this people.
A career government lawyer gives up his official Professional status becuase he knows that he will be well protected by the people he is sheltering by his criminal conduct.

It’s even more significant if the answer is “Has given up” -
it means that the discovery phase would have had far worse consequences than Berger losing his license.

“Gave up” is correct. Berger had 2 options. The other option—don’t recall what it was—was more unpleasant that giving up his license to practice law, which he hadn’t done for years anyway. This is really causing him no pain, as far as I can tell.

He gave it up. He could have kept it, but then his testimony would be made public. He chose to give it up, so his case remains sealed from the public. Nope, nothing to hide here, please move along.

Incidentally, this case is a prime example of why I refuse to get a security clearance. The process is unjust on its face, (Why isn’t Berger STILL in jail for felony mishandling of SCI material?) and very intrusive. I won’t voluntarily submit to a facially unjust system.

I don’t think that he should’ve had unescorted access. He was a member of a FORMER administration. As he was OUT OF POWER (except for that damn shadow government), the Clinton Administration should not have any contemporary security clearance.
I realize that they were doing “research” for testimony. Looks like they were doing more than researching, they were purging documents.

He must have a lot to hide if he's willing to give up his license.
The MSM doesn't care.
If he had been a Republican this would have been on the front page of the NYT's - with many follow up stories.
The public's "right to know" and all that other bulls-it they delude themselves with -- right to know when it's dirt on a Republican.
It's almost like they're in bed with Larry Flynt...

Burglargate coverup continues........MSM is complicit, focusing on Scoot Libby and meaningless obstruction of juctice, while giving Sandy Berger a pass on treasonous acts. Where are the “jersey Girls” demanding he take a lie detector test so we can get to the bottom of what the Clintonistas knew about 9/11 and Al Qaeda, and if they purposely held back passing such info on to the Bush Administration.

The way I heard on another thread was that Berger resigned to stifle the Bar Associations investigation. They can't investigate him if he's not a bar member.
The headline is purposely misleading, implying that he is being punished when he's not. The MSM knows that 90% of their readers scan the headlines and move on without reading the body.
