Care to give a synopsis?

Typical left-wing New Yorker wetting itself over the idea that the GOP will implode from dissatisfaction.

Even the cartoons have gone to hell in the New Yorker. You’re lucky to find on or two good ones in an issue. They survived Tina Brown, unlike almost everything else that was worth a bean, but they have not survived the idiots who replaced her.

You’re correct. The New Yorker is dead. Tina Brown destroyed it, and David Remnick can’t resuscitate it. I’ve not read a decent poem there in years. The comics aren’t funny anymore, either.

New Yorker, R.I.P.

Ignoring the typical New Yorker bias, the information deals with the views of several political players (mostly by Rove vs Gingrich vs DeLay vs Viguerie, but few others as well) on state of GOP, in terms of evaluation of results of 2006 elections and visions of future direction.

And a usual dose of conservatism vs "middle-of-the-road" future of GOP - implosion or growth? But generally, a good concise overview of political environment and the roles that GOP leaders (past and potentially future) play.

The article was sub-titled “GOP Implosion.” It doesn’t paint a flattering picture of Karl Rove, that’s for sure. Newt Gingrich was quoted as saying Rove’s 04 campaign plan was “maniacally dumb.” Apparently Newt doesn’t think Karl is all that magnificent.

Not just the GOP.

Write on: Barletta knocks Marsicano off ballot

Barletta won the 'Rat mayoral primary, too. And they had to work to vote for him. The 'Rats ignore that lesson at their peril.

Well, that's all right, because just like with those other magazines I would only ever buy it for the articles.

“Typical left-wing New Yorker wetting itself over the idea that the GOP will implode from dissatisfaction.”

Don’t pooh-pooh the idea. I know a half dozen folk who are so disgusted they have changed their party registration in the last two weeks. My wife, a legal immigrant, decided after last years republican senate effort at ignoring the base, to change to Independent and is now supporting the Constitution party.

When the party ‘leadership’decideds to give their supporters the finger while sucking up to moneyed rino check writers and business owners, then yes, the party IS having a melt down. I have never voted for anyone but republicans, but if this amnesty sham is shoved down our throats, I will join my spouse as an ex-republican.

Remember, we have options other than saying ‘thank you sir, may I have another’ while being given the finger.

The cartoons were the only good thing in it. I never subscribed, but I always leafed through them in the doctor’s and dentist’s office.

Come to think of it, they don’t have it any more, either.

I have a good friend who used to work for the New Yorker. Tina shoveled him out.

Gingrich and other conservatives blast Rove and Gingrich says says "the Bush Administration has become a Republican version of the Jimmy Carter Presidency,"

It's a good read. Drudge had it linked in Red earlier.

This is exactly why I don’t trust Newt. Compares Bush to carter, never minding 911, WOT, Katrina, Iraq, unrelenting and nonstop lying liberals and their propaganda machine, the msm. Thanks Newt. Can always count on you to stick the knife in a little deeper.

I was joking about “for the articles”, of course; this magazine has not been on my reading list ever, though I have read a couple of articles through the years, and did notice the quality of cartoons at that time.

It does seem that after hurricane “Tina” lands somewhere, everything she touches turns to “Brown”.

“Can always count on you to stick the knife in a little deeper.”

That’s a self-inflicted knife, or hadn’t you noticed?

911, Katrina, WOT??? I don’t see those as being self inflicted.

Newt’s obviously pandering for good press by spouting MSM/DNC/BDS talking points.

To bad that an idea man has to stoop so low, well, see ya Newt!

You don’t think pushing liberal policies, not actually wanting to fight the WOT to win (that’s shown clearly by his policies), and insulting his own supporters is “self-inflicted”?

He is damned no matter what he does by one bunch or the other. Liberals never eat their own the way conservatives do. After being stabbed in the back at the last election by his own party he probably isn’t trying too hard to get your love now.

What? The White House worked to throw Congress to the Democrats. Remember “now we have a Congress we can work with”? He stabbed US in the back.

The man is a liberal. He’s an ally of Kennedy. You’re just going to have to deal with that.
