U.S. forces rescued 41 Iraqi civilians Sunday from an al-Qaida hide-out northeast of Baghdad, including some who showed signs of torture and broken bones, a senior U.S. official said.

Take that Rosie...and those like her!
I get so tired -— and infuriated -— at listening to radio news and they tell us nothing but how many soldiers were killed today.
And things like “the highest number killed in a month for the past year” or some such figure.
And tell us nothing about how many terrorists were offed, or anyother successes.
Fox radio news is as bad as the rest.
It makes it sound like American soldiers are just standing around waiting for terrorists to shoot them.
There is a huge amount of evidence that the surge is working. Meanwhile, Fox News is reporting that among the 41 rescued is a 14-year-old boy who was blind-folded, bound and suspended from the ceiling.
Anyone who has seen the drawings from the torture handbook must understand that what we are fighting is pure evil.
We’ve got al Qaeda on the run in Iraq and we’re winning over the sheiks.
Doing the job no Muslim army is willing to do...
MSNBC posted the AP story about an hour ago, also as Breaking News.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18890132/
I want photos of these victims and their injuries PLASTERED all over Fox News and the new media!
Harry “the body” Reid and Ma Pelosi are saddened by the news.
The AP reporting good news from Iraq..... what’s the catch?
ROTFLMAO!!!!
I’m stealing that one!
LOL!!! Excellent photo-op.
MY EYES...MY EYES... make it stop ;-)
And when will photos of evidence of torture be on Page 1 of the NYTimes and Newsweek magazine?
BIGFOOT!!!
It is said that the best humor is close to the truth. Thanks for posting the proof of that statement and for giving me a much needed break from the misery on all the Sunday morning shows. LOL!
Exactly. That is 90% of the reporting on the war. It is obvious whose side the media is on.
Ohhh that’s sick...but priceless...mind if I “borrow” that pic?? LMAO
Hey, Nordie. There is another story that forces rescued nine hostages near Baqubah. Apparently our forces didn’t get the Rosie memo about U.S. terrorism. She will be so disappointed.
Well, at least the hostages weren't offered ham sandwiches or made to put panties on their head - that would've been unforgivable. /unbelievable ignorance.
Be my guest, since I lifted it anyway. It’s all over the internet, to include several funny threads here on FR devoted to it yesterday.
Good news ping.
Even though it’s Fox reporting it,.. it’s not up on MNF-Iraq or MNCorps-Iraq so I’m holding back. If true good news indeed.
Did Axis Sally or Tokyo Rose give out information about Allied success?
No.
Their mission was to demoralize the U.S. war effort and they did their job to the best of their ability.
The liberal news media is doing its job, as they see it, to the best of its ability.
In this war and in any other U.S. war that is not started and conducted during a Democrat's watch, the U.S. liberal news media will conduct themselves just as Joseph Goebbels, Reich Minister for Popular Enlightenment and Propaganda, conducted his Propaganda Ministry during World War II.
They share the same war aim as Goebbels and al Qaeda, namely, to bring about an American wartime defeat.
It's as simple as that.
Looks like a woman with a hairy chest. No wonder the terrorists want to commit suicide.
Now THAT’S Funny!
We even beat back the DemonRats, although the cost (to our pocketbooks) was high.
LOL...so true...
“Fox News is reporting that among the 41 rescued is a 14-year-old boy who was blind-folded, bound and suspended from the ceiling.”
Andy Sullivan claims that if you remain silent on torture you support it. He has said nothing about the al Qaeda torture manual found, or this incident, so I guess while he opposes torture by the United States, he is okay with al Qaeda torturing people.
Come to think, none of the MSM sources — except Fox New — have said anything, either. I guess they are okay with torture, too — so long as al Qaeda does the torturing.
Looks like the Diyala Awakening might have begun.
This is exactly why we should surround Sadr City, give residents notice to evacuate all elderly, woman and children within 24 hours.
All men of fighting age who try to leave the city should be detained, and questioned extensively off site.
After 24 hours....the city should be leveled. No place left standing to hide, not even a mosque!
Let’s fight the war to win. Lets fight the war as we did in WWII. War is hell, no one likes innocents harmed, but to win you must fight like hell and leave no doubt in the minds of anyone our resolve to win.
The next city to be surrounded might get the insurgents attention. Maybe they might wanna talk it out rather than fight.
Just my lil ol humble opine!
Gee.
I wonder if the worst thing these poor souls experienced was having panties put on the heads and having dogs bark at them while naked?
I suspect not.
Indeed!
“On Monday, Iranian and U.S. diplomats were scheduled to hold rare talks in Baghdad over how to end the violence in Iraq. U.S. officials accuse Shiite-ruled Iran of training, financing and arming militants here, in a bid to fan sectarian tensions. Iran denies that and blames the presence of U.S. forces here for the violence. “
How much longer are we going to allow this?
SSHHHHH!
Keep it down!
The war is LOST, remember?
/s
Not a chance; and don’t be surprised of the ISLAMIC torture manual is reported as a knock-off of a CIA manual.
As for reporting numbers of Iraqis and insurgents/terrorist fighters killed, I believe DoD as a matter of policy does not release such numbers to the press, possibly due in part to the difficulty (near impossibility in many instances) of distinguishing friend from conditional friend/ally from one of the many brands of terrorist/insurgent.
Hi, Thanks for the addition. Good Guys Rule!
LOL! My sister sent me that in e-mail the other day. I just hollered when I opened it, it was so funny!
Ummm, I hate to break it to you, but, most of the time, that's exactly what we're doing. This AQ find was either driven by a local national's tip or it was just blind luck.
Don’t fool yourself. Our soldiers have been working HARD to create those opportunities for folks to be comfortable giving them tips. The daughter of some friends was a Captain in a Stryker brigade, doing Intelligence work. She said it was interesting that when she spoke to the women, they always had some interesting information. Men treat them like they’re furniture, so they pick up some good intel just sitting quietly in the background.
Yes, yes, I know, I’m one of those working HARD to create that atmosphere, as painful as it is. As far as the women thing, it works sometimes, and others it doesn’t. They can sometimes be good for info, but just as often, from my experience, they’ll lie through their teeth to save the male of the house, even hiding evidence on her person since they know we won’t search them unless we have a female searcher. Kids can also sometimes be a good source, but they’ve been raised in an environment where it’s almost cool to be a terrorist fighting the jihad, so their cooperation is spotty at best.
How can this be?
According to the libs and the DBM, Al Queda is not in Iraq and our troops are the terrorists.
The libs and the DBM wouldn’t lie to us, would they?
“The AP reporting good news from Iraq..... whats the catch?”
Memorial Day. No one reading the papers.
Red, white and blue bump.
Al Qaeda put panties on their head?
Oh, the humanity.
Amen squarebarb!! You have hit the nail on the head BIG TIME!!
It infuriates me too. For today’s top of the hour news blurb they were using Memorial Day to focus on the fact that we’re coming up on 3500 US killed (or whatever the next significant increment is). It would make their day if we hit that number tomorrow.
I hear Rosie has a blog. Wish you would post this on her blog. ;)
That would blow her fans’ minds. Hehehehehehehe.
Second thought, I bet most of Rosie's fans wouldn't know that this is Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, the 9/11 mastermind.
