A Chicago expert and others say a cultural rift is forming between U.S.-born Muslims and foreign imams brought into the country to lead services at mosques. Although foreign imams lead 85 percent of non-African-American mosques in the United States, many in the younger generation of Muslims have a difficult time connecting with the religious leaders, The Christian Science Monitor reported Thursday.
"There is a strong feeling that not just the immigrant imams but also the first generation often can't relate very well to the society around them," said Umar Abd-Allah, chairman of Nawawi, a Chicago-based group that aims to provide relevant Islamic teachings for American Muslims. "There's just a very different worldview."
Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, who leads the Al-Farah Mosque in New York, told the Monitor the rift is stemming from the inability of many leaders to separate religious traditions and cultural differences. "The immigrant generation is still living psychologically in their homeland," Abdul Rauf said. "The second generation is the one that begins to assert itself as belonging to the new society."

A recent terrorist trial, and conviction, of an Islamic terrorists in New York City brought out the extent to which police have infiltrated Moslem communities in order to uncover terrorist plots. While most of this counter-terrorist activity within Moslem communities is kept secret, enough information has leaked out to make it clear that it’s no accident that the United States has not suffered another terrorist attack since September 11, 2001.
There is an extensive informant network within Moslem communities all over the United States. The FBI was pleasantly surprised right after September 11, 2001, by the number of calls they got from American Moslems, reporting suspicious events in their communities, or volunteering to keep an eye on things. It turned out that there was a substantial number of American Moslems, most of them recent immigrants (legal and illegal) that were pro al Qaeda. These attitudes had been causing distress among American Moslems since the 1990s. There had been violence, and even some murders, as the Islamic radicals tried to take control of Mosques, and other Moslem immigrant organizations

“There is an extensive informant network within Moslem communities all over the United States.”
Will it be enough?
It only took six years post 9/11.
“The tilte and article does not seem to be in conformity”
Huh?
Dissent must be made by Muslim Americans NOW, before it is too late...
I have known many Muslims who came after the fall of the Shah of Iran - they NEVER wanted to live under the thumb of the mullahs and they were always confident in their freedom to speak against Islamic Fundamentalists here in the U.S.
Now, Islamic Fundamentalists are finding a foothold in the West, and they threaten all who oppose them; not just “infidels” but moderate Muslims as well. American Muslims must fight now, or they will find themselves governed by sharia - even in America.
One can hope.
If it isn't, I doubt there will be a living møøslimb in all of North America.
I’ve several muslim friends at work. I also have more muslims at work that would like to kill me. If given the chance. We have each other on our lists.
Believe me.
At the same time we have organizations like CAIR and other Muslim groups that give the opposite impression and get all the press.

So far it’s worked.
“The body of the article however, does not give me that mipression.”
The whole article is just a little blurb, not much of anything there.
Ive several muslim I think are friends at work. I also have more muslims at work that I know would like to kill me.
Trust me on this one...
I’m comfortable with my “friends”. I’m aware of my enemies. Nobody pays more attention to their surroundings than your’s truly.
His response to 9/11 was very illuminating.
We walked a couple of 9/11 celebrants out the door on that Tuesday. Not my friends. A couple of temps that couldn’t be guaranteed their safety after their celebratory actions in the cafe while watching the replays........
They were collected and sent on their way by HR before the electricians and pipefitters could track them down.

I smell duki:
"In a move likely to cause controversy with church leaders, Imam Feisal said it was Christians who started mass attacks on civilians."
Unless we use the tactics of a regime like the Nazis or the Soviets, it takes years to infiltrate groups like that. It would be nice if it happened faster, but it didn’t. It would also be nice if the cops were already in there, but then we would be rightfully apprehensive of police spying on citizens.
I've been back in the gulf (Arabian, that is) on several occasions in the past few months - nice reminders of the hatred, mistrust and internal power struggles within the so-called ummah itself - and it's ours to exploit.
As for Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, google his name, and read some of his absurd rants.
Is this true? Well then I am pleasantly surprised too. Since we are not controlling our border anymore, it doesn't matter. However, should we be interested in controlling our borders again someday, it would be well to sort out which sort of muslim we want to accept into this country. Or maybe we have enough as it is. We certainly don't need to repeat France's and England's mistakes.
Hope for the best that the American-born Muslims will get their act together to be able to stand up to the radical imans because non-Muslim Ameicans are now keeping a close eye on them.
Koran ch 3 line 28-
Let not the believers take the unbelievers for friends rather than believers; and whoever does this, he shall have nothing of (the guardianship of) Allah, but you should guard yourselves against them, guarding carefully; and Allah makes you cautious of (retribution from) Himself; and to Allah is the eventual coming.
Koran ch 5 line 51-
O ye who believe! take not the Jews and the Christians for your friends and protectors: They are but friends and protectors to each other. And he amongst you that turns to them (for friendship) is of them. Verily Allah guideth not a people unjust.
It wasn't that long ago I was reading news about Protestants and Catholics going at it in Ireland, bombing, tortures, shootings. I know it isn't the same thing but to an extent it could be said Christians have been fighting each other since the beginnning of Christianity.
One question I have is why do the American muslims need to import imams from outside? One answer I can speculate is that they wish to be exposed to "the real thing" imams with street cred, if you will. To get into the whole Arabic thing with all the calligraphy, the clothes, even the ethnic food. It is like why American Christians travel to Israel and Jerusalem, to get close to the Holy Land, and be infused with the sacredness of the place, they want to be where Moses was, and where Jesus walked. I suspect they are expecting some profound experience of being led closer to God. The only problem is, when those imams get here and start with their al-queda take over the world nonsense, the imams are immediately at variance with the the country that American muslims have grown to love and have allegiance. It is good to see that American muslims are disturbed by the approach of the foreign imams. I hope American muslims decide once and for all that what the foreign imams preach is not the gospel they want to hear, stop inviting them, and find their own way based on their own studies and making islam work for them and work with the rest of society. There may be enough overlap of common values between Catholics, Protestants, Jews, and Muslims in this country that we can all live peacefully. I do recommend striving to strictly limit the number of middle eastern types to this country; we have to realize that not everyone is desirable for immigration. It is just dumb to let people in who we know we will have to send undercover cops after for the rest of their lives, and be constantly breaking up their plans to bomb and poison us. We need to let people in only who can be set loose with reasonable confidence they are not going to constitute a threat to society. This goes for South America as well (we still have MS-13 problems in this country).
Where ever the Muslims live a police state grows and prospers just like Communist Russia and all of the suppressive Muslim states.
While most of this counter-terrorist activity within Muslim communities is kept secret.
It's nice to know our great American leaders over the last 30 years have imported Gaza strip communities to every city in the US.
They are called Mosques.
CAIR gets press the old-fashioned way...they pay for it with Saudi money.
Scary and FUNNY all at the same time.
I’m a white, Christian female. I had a Farrakan Muslim coworker at a previous job.
She and I got along great and often yucked it up and often shared juicy gossip tidbits with each other.
I heard from others though that she HATED white people.
I don’t know if I was an exception to her rule or if she was just being nice to my face.
Here's a tip guys:
Real Prophets climb mountains to be closer to God.
They don't crawl into caves to listen to the hissings of The Serpent.
